L'invention concerne un procédé de commande d'un moteur (40) à combustion interne comprenant une étape d'optimisation du fonctionnement du moteur (40) au cours de laquelle on sélectionne, en fonction d'au moins un couple de paramètres de fonctionnement du moteur, au moins une commande (210) parmi les commandes suivantes : - commander (210) une levée partielle (14) de la soupape d'échappement pendant une levée principale (10) de la soupape d'admission ; - commander (210) une levée partielle (13) de la soupape d'admission pendant une levée principale (11) de la soupape d'échappement.
