The set is a safety device comprising a backpack (100) with a back pocket (104) in which is inserted an electronic circuit (300) provided with a radio frequency receiver which receives and decodes commands coming from a box. remote control with buttons actuated by a user. The electronic circuit (300) comprises a printed circuit board bearing on one of its faces an array of light-emitting diodes, and control means make it possible to selectively activate some of the diodes of the array as a function of the commands decoded by the receiver. Each command corresponds to a different configuration (330) of activated diodes, indicating for example a signaling of: left turn, right turn, straight direction, or braking.
Description
The invention relates to safety equipment, especially for cyclists. In fact, unlike motorcycle or scooter users, cyclists do not have any means of signage to indicate how they move in traffic. To signal their intentions to turn right or left, they must raise an arm, and the handlebar is then held only one hand. And if they wish to signal their intention to stop or continue straight ahead without turning, they have no way to warn the users around them on the road (motorists, motorcyclists or even pedestrians) in the same way. they will evolve in traffic. The invention proposes a solution to this problem, in the form of safety equipment comprising: a backpack with at least one back pocket; a remote control box with a plurality of signaling keys and a radiofrequency transmitter circuit controlled by the actuation of the signaling keys; and an electronic circuit inserted in the back pocket of the backpack. The electronic circuit comprises a printed circuit board bearing on one of its faces an array of light-emitting diodes. It also comprises a radio frequency receiver circuit capable of receiving and decoding commands corresponding to respective keystrokes of the remote control by a user, and means for driving the light emitting diodes so as to selectively activate some of the diodes according to the commands. decoded by the receiver, each command corresponding to a different configuration of activated diodes. According to various advantageous subsidiary characteristics: the back pocket of the backpack is made of a translucent fabric capable of obscuring the electronic circuit inserted in the pocket in the absence of activation of the light emitting diode array, while being able to be crossed by the radiation of the electroluminescent diodes of the network which are activated; - the buttons on the remote control unit, and the corresponding commands decoded by the electronic circuit, comprise controls of the group formed by: left turn, right turn, straight ahead, braking; - The remote control unit comprises means for fixing the housing to a bicycle handlebar; - The electronic circuit comprises a rechargeable battery pack, a charger integrated circuit, and a charging cable adapted to be connected to a low voltage DC source; - The electronic circuit has a sleep mode, controlled from the remote control by a long press on one of the keys thereof; - The electronic circuit has a power saving mode, automatically controlled in the absence of pressing any key on the remote control for a predetermined time. This energy saving mode can in particular control a flashing of the light emitting diodes in a circular pattern and intermittently. An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which the same references designate identical or functionally similar elements from one figure to another.
Figure 1 is an overview, front view of the backpack of the invention with its remote control housing. Figure 2 is a rear view of the backpack of Figure 1. Figure 3 is a simplified rear view of the backpack of Figures 1 and 2, showing how to introduce the electronic signaling circuit.
Figure 5 is an elevational view showing how the housing of Figure 4 can be mounted on a bicycle handlebars. Figure 6 is a view of the central portion of the backpack, the electronic circuit being inserted into the back pocket with its various visible components. FIG. 7 is a simplified diagram illustrating the main functional blocks of the electronic circuit of the equipment shown in FIG. 6. FIGS. 1 to 3 show a backpack 100 used to constitute the safety equipment of FIG. invention. This comprises a bag proper 102 with, in a manner known in itself, various pockets and, typically, a rear pocket 104 allowing, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the insertion of a electronic circuit 300 The pocket 104 is intended for this sole use. It is made in a rather loose fabric, translucent, that is to say that this fabric will normally occlude the electronic circuit 300, which will not be visible from the outside but will let the radiation of light elements supported by the circuit 300, this radiation being visible from the outside through the fabric of the pocket 104. The backpack 100 also comprises straps 106, one of which comprises a pocket 108 that can receive a wireless remote control 200. The remote control 200 is illustrated in more detail Figures 4 and 5. It comprises a housing 202 provided with a plurality of keys 204, and can be attached to a bicycle handlebar G for example by means of a self-gripping strip 206.
The keys 204 are signal buttons corresponding to various indications such as: left turn, right turn, straight direction, braking. Pressing these various keys activates a radio frequency transmitter circuit producing a modulated signal according to that of the keys which has been actuated by the user.
The keys 204 advantageously comprise a light reminder confirming their activation, and there may be provided a permanent lighting key 208 so that the cyclist can more easily find the position of the signal buttons 204 in the dark. Figures 6 and 7 illustrate the details of the electronic circuit 300 inserted in the back pocket 104 of the backpack 100. This circuit 300 includes a printed circuit board 302 carrying the various electronic components and enclosed in a protective case 304 whose dimensions correspond approximately to those of the rear pocket 104 of the backpack. The card 302 carries an on / off switch 306, and is provided for its power supply with a charging cable 308 ending in a socket 310 to be connected to a low-voltage DC source, for example a USB socket 5 volts. The printed circuit board 302 carries on its outward facing face a network 312 of light-emitting diodes 314, 316. An opening in the case 304 allows these diodes to be visible, so that they can emit radiation sideways. outside the circuit 300, and therefore the outer side of the equipment carried on his back by the cyclist. The network 312 of diodes is configured so as to allow, by selective activation of certain diodes of the network, the display of different symbols, for example: right arrow, by activation of some of the green diodes 304; - left arrow, by activation of other green diodes 314; up arrow (towards the front), by activation of still other green diodes 314; Exclamation point (to indicate, for example, braking or deceleration), by activation of the red diodes 316. As illustrated in FIG. 7, the diodes 314, 316 of the network 312 are selectively activated under the control of a microcontroller 318. carried by the printed circuit board 302, and powered by a rechargeable battery 320 coupled by a charging circuit 322 to the USB port 310. The microcontroller 318 receives and decodes the commands sent from the remote control box 200 by means of a radio frequency receiver circuit 324 coupled to the remote control unit 200 via the wireless link 326. The microcontroller 318 activates a control circuit 328 for controlling the array of diodes 312, so as to generate a light emission reproducing, according to the commands received, the various corresponding symbols 328 to that of the signaling buttons 204 of the remote control 200 which has been activated. The radiation of the diodes is visible through the tissue of the pocket 104, as shown for example in 330 in Figure 2 by an arrow to the left, indicating the intention of the cyclist to move away or turn in this direction. The cyclist can transmit signals to motorists, bikers, etc. moving behind him, without both hands leaving the handlebars.
It can also send signals indicating for example its intention to go straight, or slow down or stop, which was not possible to do a hand gesture. Finally, the system can be put on standby from the remote control: if the user presses the center button on the remote control for a predetermined time (for example two seconds), the system switches to standby mode and emits no more light signals. To reactivate the system, simply press the central key for two seconds and the system will then return to working order. Also, when no key on the remote control is pressed for a long time (for example for five minutes), the system automatically switches to a "power saving" mode, which is different from sleep mode. This mode "energy saving" is materialized by a flashing of the diodes in a circular pattern and intermittently. On the other hand, it should be noted that the system never automatically goes into sleep mode, and that it is therefore imperative to press the central key for two seconds.
