Description
The present invention relates to a destructive shock sensor. In a general way, it is known that the dimensioning of the structures subjected to a shock is carried out currently either from computation with the finite elements in fast dynamics, or by static computation by use of an acceleration, or by tests or tests. on such structures or representations thereof. The dynamic and static calculations are made on the basis of known characteristics of the material constituting this structure. However, the characteristics of the materials vary depending on the type of stress and in particular the speed of deformation. The consequence is a bias in the calculations that leads to oversizing structures, this oversizing being particularly sensitive when static calculations are used. Finally, the current indirect methods, that is to say for example accelerometer and strain gauge measurements, do not make it possible to determine the influence of the rate of deformation. For example, it is known to use the static characteristics of resistance of the materials (Young's modulus, elastic resistance, tensile strength, elongation at break) without taking into account in particular the influence of the rate of deformation. Now this is of crucial importance in the field of sizing in the construction of machines such as for example motor vehicles, naval platforms, etc. The purpose of the invention is therefore to solve these problems.
For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a destructive shock sensor, characterized in that it comprises a support base provided with means for fixing first ends of generally rod-shaped test pieces, the second ends of which are adapted to receive test masses and that the first and second ends of the specimens are connected by low point grooves.
According to other characteristics of the sensor according to the invention, taken alone or in combination: the first ends of the specimens are threaded and fixed by screwing in tapped holes of the base; - The test masses are fitted on the second ends of the test pieces and held thereon between a shoulder and a nut screwed onto the corresponding end of the test piece; the axes of the specimens are parallel to the axis of impact and in that these specimens are tensile specimens; the axes of the specimens are perpendicular to the axis of impact and in that these specimens are shear specimens.
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows, given solely by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of an example of realization of a destructive shock sensor according to the invention; FIG. 2 represents a detailed view of this sensor showing test masses on a specimen, forming part of the constitution of such a shock sensor; FIG. 3 represents an enlarged view of such a rod-shaped test piece; and FIG. 4 represents a side sectional view of an alternative embodiment of such a destructive shock sensor for shear characterization.
In fact and as illustrated in these figures and in particular in Figures 1 to 3, the destructive shock sensor according to the invention is in the form of a series of simple sensors associated with each other via a common connecting room. Such a shock sensor comprises indeed a support base, designated by the general reference 1 in Figure 1, having for example the general shape of an L, a portion 2 extends parallel to the direction / general direction of the shock , designated by the arrow A in this Figure 1, and another portion perpendicular to the first, is designated by the general reference 3, and extends in a plane generally perpendicular to this direction / direction of shock.
The different binary simple sensors are then designated by the references 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in this figure and are arranged parallel to the base next to each other. In the example shown, five simple binary sensors are illustrated. Of course a different number of binary sensors may be considered.
In fact, each single binary sensor comprises a rod-shaped test piece, such as that designated by the reference for example 9 for the binary sensor 7 illustrated in FIG. 1 and in more detail in FIGS. 2 and 3. It is then conceivable that different For example, identical test pieces, to which test masses of different values are attached for example, in order to bias each test specimen differently, can be used and subjected to the same input shock.
A.As indicated above, each test piece is then in the general shape of a rod whose one end, for example the end of the test piece 9 illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, is threaded and is adapted to be engaged and fixed in a threaded hole of the base 1 and more particularly of the portion 3 of this base. Thus each test piece is firmly fixed on the base on which the shock is applied, taking care to size it correctly in order to avoid as much as possible its influence on the stressing of the weak point. The other end of the test piece is designated by the general reference 11 in these figures and is then adapted to receive masses of different values such as, for example, the mass designated by the general reference 12 in FIG. 2 for the illustrated test piece. . This end is also sized to minimize its influence on the stress of the weak point. The mass is then held in position for example between a shoulder 13 of the corresponding end of the specimen 9 and a nut 14 screwed onto the threaded end of the specimen. Of course other embodiments of these mass fixing means can be envisaged. This then allows this assembly to form a shock sensor which, when subjected to a given impact, causes deformation or rupture of the most stressed specimens, that is to say those associated for example with the masses of the most important test, while the less stressed test pieces do not break but can become deformed. This makes it possible to determine the behavior of the material of which the test pieces are made. The first broken specimen then gives an indication of the maximum tensile stress of the specimen. For this purpose, the two ends of the specimen, that is to say the one adapted to be fixed on the support base and that adapted to receive the test mass, are connected by a specimen groove c '. that is to say weak point or break / deformation designated for example by the general reference 15 in Figure 3. In fact, the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3 shows a destructive shock sensor implementing test pieces in tension. Indeed, and as illustrated in these Figures 1 to 3, the axis of the rod-shaped test pieces is placed parallel to the axis of the shock A.
The groove of the specimen then defines a weak point of tensile rupture thereof. Of course the length of the throat of the specimen can be modified to avoid the coupled stresses and stress concentrations, or to allow the bonding of an extensometry gauge (measurement of the deformation). This then makes it possible to obtain a destructive shock sensor by pulling the specimens at this weakening groove. Of course the test pieces can also be used in shearing as illustrated in FIG. 4.
In this exemplary embodiment, the axis of the specimens is placed for example at 90 ° with respect to the axis of the shock B. In fact, this FIG. 4 recognizes a shock sensor which always comprises a base designated by the reference 20, on which is screwed a specimen designated by the general reference 21 and more particularly one end of this specimen. This test piece 21 then has an axis perpendicular to the axis of impact B. The other end of the test piece is always provided with a test mass designated by the general reference 22 in this figure, while holding means position of this mass in position on the specimen, designated by the general reference 23, may also be provided. Thus the test piece is generally disposed at 90 ° with respect to the axis of impact. In order to avoid problems of stress coupling, this test piece is held in its lower part by screwing into the base and in the upper part by the holding mass. The test masses then rest on the base which allows a displacement of these in the direction of impact. In order to avoid a rotation of the masses, which would induce a tensile stress on the test pieces, a screw can be positioned at the top, almost in contact with these masses and maintained for example by a locknut on a part of the base , as illustrated. But it goes without saying of course that other embodiments can be envisaged. Thus the sensor according to the invention allows any type of material characterization that can be used in all areas having to deal with dynamic stressing type shocks or severe vibrations.
This then makes it possible to determine the static acceleration of dimensioning making it possible to carry out fast and realistic calculations, of shock resistance of the structures. It is thus possible to dimension the structures as accurately as possible while obtaining a saving of time in these operations.
Of course other embodiments can be envisaged.
