Description
The invention relates to a method for continuously calibrating a sensor, and more particularly to a triaxial measurement sensor of a substantially uniform vector physical field in time and space. . Many devices, such as mobile phones or satellite navigation system receivers, utilize on-board sensors, such as magnetometers, accelerometers, or directional antennas (for DOA measurements meaning "Direction of Arrival" in English 10 ), which provide a measure of a substantially uniform vectorial physical field in time and space plus a bias or "offset" in English. These biases can change abruptly or slowly over time. They do not depend on the physical field, but on the sensor or the carrier device integral with the sensor. The electronics of conditioning and conversion of the sensor can be at the origin of this bias, the effects of temperature are also a source. Incidentally, there may be mentioned the magnetometer which measures, certainly the terrestrial magnetic field, as an external physical field, but which is also sensitive to a possible magnetization of the ferrous materials of its nearest vicinity, that is to say those which constitute the reception device of the sensor. These materials are integral with the sensor mark. Because this magnetization is fixed in the sensor's mark, their magnetization acts as an additional vector constant to the external field, forming an additional constant at each measuring axis of the sensor. It is typically this magnetization that can be known during their use telephone or tablet type devices, a magnetization that contributes to the offset of the magnetometers. In order to have a precise measurement of the vectorial physical field which one wishes to measure, it is necessary to subtract these biases from measurements or measurements transmitted by the sensor. Some methods of eliminating bias require a particular gesture (such as what is advocated in some mobile platforms, the user being asked to perform a gesture similar to an "8" in space). Such methods are relatively restrictive for the user, or sometimes impossible to apply for devices on board motor vehicles. Methods for identifying these measurement biases are also known by fitting a sphere to a set of measuring points of the sensor, the measurement bias being the center of the sphere. The document "A curve fitting procedure and its error analysis" by I. Kasa, IEEE Trans, Inst Meas, 25: 8-14, 1976 proposes a method of approximating a sphere model on a scatter plot. The method is described for a purely general and geometric purpose, it is quite computationally efficient, but only works if the points used are correctly distributed over a sphere. If this method is applied to the calibration problem, it does not work for partial calibration. US Pat. No. 7,653,507 uses this method for sensor calibration. A partial calibration corresponds to the calibration of only a subset of measurement axes of a sensor with several measurement axes. G. Taubin's "Estimation of planar curves, surfaces and nonplanar space curves defined by implicit equations, with applications to edge and range image segmentation", IEEE Trans Pattern Analysis 20 Machine Intelligence, 13: 1115-1138, 1991, and " Direct least-squares fitting of algebraic surfaces ", V. Pratt, Computer Graphics, 21: 145-152, 1987 propose a method operating with data irregularly distributed (for example on a cap), but using a decomposition value singular or SVD for "Singular Value 25 Decomposition" in English, or a descent of Newton, which is not very economical in calculations, and does not work in partial calibration. Such a method is therefore difficult to achieve on a device having a computing capacity limited by the processor or the required energy autonomy. An object of the invention is to solve the aforementioned problems. An object of the invention is to determine these measurement biases by limited calculations, in the background, on any movements. Another object of the invention is to be able to operate in partial calibration. Also, according to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a method 35 for continuously calibrating a triaxial measurement sensor of a vector physical field, by determining axial bias of measurements by calculating a current value of or parameters of a predetermined model approximating a current set of stored data dependent on measurements provided by said sensor, the value of the parameter (s) representative of said axial bias, said method comprising the iterative steps in which: - a set is selected additional at least one new datum, dependent on measurements provided by said sensor; a next value of the parameter or parameters is determined from a projection of said current value on a geometric locus depending on a subset of the union of the current and additional sets; the current value of the parameter (s) is updated by the following value of the parameter (s); and updating the current set from the current set and the additional set. Such a method makes it possible to calibrate, continuously, a triaxial measurement sensor of a substantially uniform vector physical field in time and space, for example in a partial manner, with any movements, even small ones, and a quantity reduced calculations. By weak movements, we mean sensor rotation movements of a few degrees to a few tens of degrees of angle. Obviously, the method operates for large amplitude movements (complete rotation turn). In an embodiment, in an iteration, at the end of the selection step, it is tested whether or not the additional set performs a first validity condition of the current value parameter model, in which case the step is avoided. next value determination. Submitting the determination state to this first condition realization test avoids many unnecessary computations when this first condition is not realized. In one embodiment, the current value is updated if the subset performs a second validity condition of the next value parameter model (s).
Similarly, conditioning said update to the realization of the second condition makes it possible to confirm and validate the adequacy of the next value of the parameter of the model. The method may include an initialization step, in which an initial set of measurement-dependent data provided by said sensor is selected and stored, and a determination step, in which an initial current value of the one or more parameters is determined, approximated using said initial set, whose coordinates in the measurement space of the sensor respectively represent initial axial bias. The measurement space of the sensor is understood to mean a coordinate system formed by the measurement axes of the sensor. For example, an initial current value of the parameter or parameters is determined using previously known sensor characteristics. In one embodiment, said predetermined pattern is a sphere pattern, a parameter of which includes the center of the approximated sphere. A data of the sensor is assimilated to a point, taking as coordinates of the point the axial values transmitted by the measurement sensor. The use of a spherical model makes it possible to have an excellent compromise between the complexity of the predetermined model and the precision obtained by the method. In which case, said first condition may include a first criterion of proximity of the sphere. The first criterion of proximity of said sphere may depend on at least one datum of the current set. The second condition may include a second criterion of proximity of the sphere. For example, at the end of an iteration, the current set is updated from the current set and the additional set. The initial current value determination of the at least one parameter of the set may comprise the determination of an initial current center of an initial sphere approximated with the aid of said initial set, the coordinates of which in a coordinate system linked to the sensor respectively represent initial axial bias. The geometric locus may then be the mediating plane between two points taken from the subset of the union of current and additional sets. As a variant, the geometric locus can be defined as the intersection line of two mediator planes respectively obtained between two pairs of data taken from the subset of the union of the current and additional sets. For example, a pair of data is chosen in said subset that maximizes the distance between the center of the sphere and said mediating plane. Advantageously, one of the data of this pair is fixed, for example the most recent, and the second is chosen so that it maximizes the distance between the center of the sphere and said mediating plane. This has the advantage of significantly reducing the amount of calculations. Advantageously, the fixed data is taken from the additional set. Similarly, the previous choices of the data can be applied to the case of a locus corresponding to the intersection of the two mediating planes. This improves the speed of iterative convergence of the process and therefore limits the amount of calculations to be performed. In one embodiment, said threshold depends on the measurement noises of the sensor. For example, the selection of said additional set may use a decimation of measurements transmitted by said sensor. Thus, it avoids storing in memory too many measures. For example, said vector physical field may be the Earth's gravitational field. In a variant, said vectorial physical field may be the terrestrial magnetic field. Thus, the method according to one aspect of the invention is particularly applicable to magnetometers or accelerometers which can be calibrated continuously without requiring any intervention on the part of the user. The invention will be better understood from the study of a few embodiments described by way of non-limiting examples and illustrated by the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1 schematically illustrates an embodiment of the method according to an aspect of the invention; invention; FIG. 2 schematically illustrates an embodiment of the method according to one aspect of the invention, in the case where the predetermined model is a sphere whose coordinates of the center in the space of the measurements of the sensor correspond to the measurement biases. axial sensor; FIG. 3 schematically illustrates the selection of the data of the current set which maximizes the distance between the center of the sphere and said mediating plane; - Figure 4 schematically illustrates an example of obtaining the new center of the sphere according to one aspect of the invention. In the set of figures, the elements having the same references are similar. As illustrated in FIG. 1, the present invention relates to a method of continuous calibration of a triaxial measurement sensor of a vector physical field, for example the earth's gravitational field G or the terrestrial magnetic field H. This calibration continues is performed by determining axial measurement bias by calculating a current value vp or parameter p of a predetermined model MP approximating a current set EC of stored data. These stored data of the current set EC can depend on measurements provided by the sensor or be initial calibration data of the sensor. The value of one of the parameters p represents axial bias. Figure 1 illustrates an embodiment of the method according to one aspect of the invention. In a step 1, a selection and storage of an initial set EC of data dependent on measurements provided by the sensor is performed.
En fin d'une itération, on met à jour l'ensemble courant EC à partir de l'ensemble courant EC et de l'ensemble additionnel EA.Then, in a step 2, an initial current value vp of the parameter (s) p is determined whose coordinates in the measurement space of the sensor respectively represent initial axial bias. In one embodiment of the method, this initial value 5 vp can be determined from the initial set EC. In another embodiment of the method, this initial value vp can be determined from an initial value vp of the parameter or parameters p, using previously known characteristics of the sensor. Finally, the method comprises the following iterative steps: in a step 3, selecting an additional set EA of at least one new data item, dependent on measurements provided by said sensor; then - in a step 4, a next value vp 'of the parameter (s) p is determined from a projection of said current value vp on a geometrical locus dependent on a subset SE of the union of the current sets EC and additional EA; in a step 5, the current value vp of the parameter (s) p is updated by the following value vp 'of the parameter (s) p; and in a step 6, the current set EC is updated from the current set EC and from the additional set EA. The selection of the additional set EA may use a decimation of measurements transmitted by the sensor. In an iteration, it is first tested whether or not the additional set EA performs a first condition CN1 of validity of the model MP of parameter (s) p of current value vp, in which case the step of value determination is avoided. next vp ', which lighten the calculation load. Furthermore, it is possible to update the current value vp by the following value vp 'if said subset SE performs a second condition CN2 of validity of the parameter model MP (s) p of following value vp ', which avoids validating a new parameter of the model which is less efficient than the previous one. At the end of an iteration, the current set EC is updated from the current set EC and from the additional set EA.
The vectorial physical field may, for example, be the terrestrial gravitational field G, or the terrestrial magnetic field H. FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 represent non-limiting embodiments, in which the predetermined model is an Sph sphere comprising at least one parameter p representing the center C of the approximated Sph sphere. FIG. 3 shows an iteration for passing from a current Sph sphere, not shown, from current center C to the next sphere Sph of center C 'which will become the new current sphere. In FIG. 3 is shown the current center C of the current sphere approximating the EC current set of stored data depending on measurements provided by the sensor. In the example shown, the additional set EA of at least one new datum comprises a single new datum A supplied by the sensor. A next value C 'of the center of the sphere Sph is determined by taking a point B from the subset SE, and the current center C is orthogonally projected onto the mediator plane P of the segment AB. With the help of FIG. 3 it is possible to prove that the sphere Sph of center C converges towards a sphere of center O whose coordinates in the measuring space of the sensor correspond to the axial measurement bias. Indeed, the triangle OC'C is rectangle in C 'is rectangle in C', so we have, according to the theorem of Pythagoras: CC'2 + C'02 = CO2 25 Thus, we obtain: C'02 = CO2- CC'2, which implies that C'02CO2, because C'C20 Also, we obtain C'OCO, which demonstrates that C 'is closer to O than C, meaning that the new center C' of the new sphere approximation taking into account the new point A becomes the new center C of the next iteration 30 converges to O. Figure 3 demonstrates that in the case of the sphere, the choice of a particular point B taken in SE in this case which maximizes the distance between the center C of the sphere Sph and the median plane P of the end segment A and B converges towards the center O particularly rapidly.
We look for the point B of the subset SE such that C'O is minimum, using the point A of the additional set EA. In the right triangle CC'O, rectangle in C ', according to the theorem of Pythagoras, we have: CC'2 + C'02 = CO2, Thus, we have: C'02 = CO2 - CC'2, As CO2 is constant compared to B Minimize C'O is equivalent to maximize CC '. We therefore seek the point B of the current set EC which maximizes CC '. As for FIG. 4, it makes it possible to illustrate a mode of determination of the following center C '. We put ourselves in the plane ABC and we calculate C 'as follows. First, in a first phase, the orthogonal projection D of the center C is calculated on the line AB. We have the following relations: CD1AB CD. AB = 0 (1) D E AB AD = kAB (2) In addition, as CD = CA + AD, referring to (1), we obtain: CA. AB + AD. AB = 0 Which implies that: CA. AB + kAB .AB = 0 and thus k = AC .AB AB .AB In a second phase, C 'is calculated using the relations CC' = DE and DE '= AE - AD, which gives: CC = A1 = 1 - ÂD 2 From which we obtain: CC '= 141 = 12 - kAB = k) AB 2 Also we have: CC' = (1 .AB AB 2 AB .AB I Thus this method of calculating the limit projection the number of operations.
25In the case of a sphere, the first condition CN1 may include a first proximity criterion CP1 of the sphere Sph, which may depend on at least one datum of the current set EC. In addition, the second condition CN2 may include a second proximity criterion CP2. In the case of the sphere, the initial current value determination vp comprises the determination of an initial current center C of an initial sphere Sph approximated to said initial set EC, whose coordinates in the measuring space of the sensors represent 10 respectively initial axial bias. The geometric locus is then the mediating plane between two data of subset SE. Advantageously, at least one of the two data comes from the additional set EA. In addition, the subset data SE may be chosen as that which maximizes the distance CC 'between the center C of the sphere Sph and the mediating plane, the distance between the two data being greater than a threshold which may depend on measurement noise of the sensor. Of course, the geometric locus considered may be the intersection of two mediating planes constructed from two pairs of data of the sub-set SE. In a variant, the predetermined model may be another geometric shape such as an ellipsoid, a polyhedron, or even an ellipse or a circle when the movement is plane. 25
