Description

The present invention relates to a vehicle retarder system which recovers the kinetic energy of said vehicles during their deceleration in order to transform it into electricity. This kinetic energy, obtained initially by the consumption of gasoline, dissipates in heat during the braking of the vehicles. At a time when non-renewable energy sources are running out, it is important to limit energy losses and reuse them whenever possible. It is known from the state of the art a device which has been the subject of a patent application EP1606458 (A1) - Apparatus for converting kinetic energy. This device has the main disadvantage of frequently moving joints, making them prone to premature aging; moreover, these movements are a source of noise.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to rally a safety function, ie to slow down the vehicles, to an energy function while being simple, easy to implement, to maintain and modular. He is quieter and stronger. It is composed of a series of circular elements, for example rollers or rollers, fixed on shafts, which are parallel to each other and are connected to a transverse shaft by gears. This shaft is connected to a flywheel which is itself connected to an alternator. The shafts supporting the rollers or rollers are surmounted by a covering element, such as a plate pierced with holes, to let out part of the circular elements, on which the vehicles must pass. The vehicle must slow down to pass on the system. When its wheels pass over the circular elements, the tires rotate the latter and cause the rotation of the trees. These shafts, through the transverse shaft, rotate the flywheel and the alternator, which produces an electric current. This current is then converted and redistributed in the EDF network or consumed on site. According to the particular embodiments and installation: A front ramp and a rear ramp can be connected to the cover element to facilitate the passage of vehicles. The shaft connected to the flywheel and alternator must also be covered with a hood to protect it from the weather and possible shocks caused by vehicles. A pit can be dug to receive equipment. The cover is then placed on the floor and only the upper parts of the rollers or rollers protrude. Non-slip material may be applied to the rollers or rollers to increase the adhesion of vehicle wheels as they pass.

The flywheel is connected to the transverse shaft by a freewheel. The number of shafts to which the circular elements are attached may vary depending on the space available or the desired electrical power. The surface of the covering element is flexible; it consists of several parts that can be linked together.

The system can have a single tree. In this case, the flywheel and the alternator are fixed directly to the end of this shaft. - 2 - - The gears can be chosen so that the transverse axis is raised relative to other trees. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: Figure 1 shows the bottom view of the system.

Figure 2 shows the front view of the system. Figure 3 shows the side view of the system. Figure 4 shows the side view of a first variant of the system. Figure 5 shows the front view of a first variant of the system. Figure 6 shows the bottom view of a second variant of the system.

Figure 7 shows the side view of a second variant of the system. With reference to these drawings, a version of the system consists of two shafts (1) to which are fixed two series of rollers (2) each. The number of rollers and their dimensions are chosen according to the width of the tires of the vehicles. The distance between each series of wheels is determined from the distance between the tires of the vehicles. A plate (3) constitutes the covering on which the vehicles must pass. This plate is reinforced below by brackets (4) and beams (5). It is pierced at the places of the wheels so that they stand out slightly. The roll over height is calculated to maximize kinetic energy transfer between the wheels of the vehicles and the rollers. Each plate is sized to cover a tree; the plates can be fixed to each other if several trees supporting series of wheels are desired.

90 degree gears (6) are attached to the end of the shafts and provide speed and torque transfer to the main shaft (7). All shafts are supported by rolling bearings (8) to limit friction. An inertia flywheel (8) is fixed to the main shaft by means of a freewheel. The steering wheel can continue to rotate even when the shaft is no longer turning; this ensures a certain regularity of rotation to the alternator (10) and, consequently, a greater regularity of electricity production. The dimensions of the flywheel and the characteristics of the alternator which is connected to it are determined from the average torque and speed transferred by the wheels of the vehicles. The alternator is identical to those found in small wind turbines. It is connected to a frequency converter (not shown), which itself is connected to the power grid or to small electrical appliances nearby.

By way of non-limiting example, the width of a plate could be of the order of 2 m for a length of 1 m. A second version of the system is illustrated in Figures 4 and 5 and includes a worm gear (11 and 12) which raises the cross shaft relative to the other shafts (1), thereby eliminating the need to dig a pit to hold equipment.

A simpler version of the system is illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 and consists of a single shaft (1) to which the flywheel (9) and the alternator (10) are attached. - 3 - This system is intended primarily for any place where vehicles must slow down, including tolls, donkeys and parking lots. The electricity produced can be re-injected directly into the network and sold to EDF, or used to power nearby facilities, for example everything related to signage.5
