Abstract

The invention relates to an item of footwear comprising an upper (1) intended to receive the foot of a user, said upper being fitted on an upper face (2) of a sole structure, said item of footwear having a system for holding the foot in the upper (1), said system comprising at least one flexible tightening assembly (5) which extends on either side of an outer part of the upper (1), said assembly being designed to be able to be stretched and held in the stretched state around said outer part in order to ensure that said outer part is tightened over the area of the foot that is intended to be located opposite it, the holding system also having a structural insert (6) having a base plate (7) which extends continuously between the sole structure and the upper (1), said base plate being bordered on either side in each case by a flank (9) located opposite one side of the upper (1), the flexible arrangement (5) being connected to each of said flanks so that in the stretched state said arrangement exerts a tensile force on said flanks.
