Abstract
(Voir FIG 1).The present invention relates to a mobile and transportable device for protecting coastal areas against the consequences of storms and the proliferation of green algae, composed of four independent and co-operating main elements: e) A fishing net, preferably of the type of ocean tuna seine (1). f) A set of floating units (2) for maintaining said fishing net (1) at the surface. g) A set of connecting element (3) for holding said fishing net (1) attached to the seabed. h) A set of submerged dead bodies (4) for locally holding said fishing net (1) in position. First, the invention is directly inspired by the protective effect of coral reefs that protect coastal areas by preventing storms and significantly reducing the impact of cyclones. However, it has the advantage of being flexible and resistant compared to hard and fragile coral reefs. Second, it significantly limits the proliferation of green algae by allowing them to settle on the device during the winter period. Withdrawn at the beginning of the summer period, the said algae which could not develop to reach their adult size disappear then by drying and without fermentation because of too small sizes. According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the ocean tuna seine-type fishing net (1) is spread over the sea surface, maintained in this position by means of floating elements (2) and connected locally to the sea surface. means of connecting elements (3) to immersed dead bodies (4). (See FIG 1).
Description
MOBILE AND TRANSPORTABLE DEVICE FOR THE PROTECTION OF COASTAL AREAS AGAINST THE CONSEQUENCES OF STORMS AND THE PROLIFERATION OF GREEN ALGAE. 5 The evolution of climatic conditions leads us to observe almost daily the multiplication on the planet of devastating natural phenomena 10 whose consequences lead to the destruction of the environment and human infrastructure.
Among these phenomena, there are some that, beyond the occasional damage, lead to the slow and gradual destruction of the coastline or to its transformation: Winter storms and the proliferation of green algae.
The constant struggle between hot, humid and unstable air masses (depressions) and cold, dry and stable air masses (anticyclones) generates the winds. If the depression is very hollow, it creates storms. The winds act directly on the behavior of the sea. Storms are more frequent and violent in winter and therefore more devastating coastal areas in this season.
Wind is the main factor in wave formation on the sea. The longer it is in time, strength and distance, the higher the wave height will be. This phenomenon can be significantly amplified by the constitution and shape of the seabed. Indeed, the wave of the tide coming from the ocean displaces a certain volume of water. When this volume of water encounters an elevation of the seabed, its volume remains unchanged, the sea-level rise may increase which may create some type of highly destructive wave. Similarly, it can be even more amplified, when it occurs in association with a tide of high coefficient. In addition to direct damage to humans such as loss of life or infrastructure, maritime storms degrade the coastlines of many countries and territories considerably. This is all the more conceivable when we know that the height of the waves approaching the coastline depends on the speed of the wind and that an established wind blowing at 130 km / h can cause the formation of breaking waves of several meters or even a ten meters high.
In order to mitigate the devastating effects of the waves, it is most often resorted to off-shore facilities such as rockfill, construction of dikes, walls, and other solid infrastructures designed to oppose the violence of the sea.
If the effectiveness of all these devices has shown its limits, it seems obvious that their durability can be assured only by heavy and costly interventions. Indeed, dikes must be monitored and maintained over the years and sometimes rebuilt in full after strong storms.
All these buildings, and particularly the rip raps, often rest on a soil of sandy structure and therefore very sensitive to erosion due to marine movements.
The maintenance or the constant reinforcement of the efficiency of these constructions involves considerable costs and induced damages of the littoral. It suffices to note the numerous heavy truck movements on the roads next to the dikes being built or repaired to imagine the extent of the damage caused to the traffic lanes and the inconvenience imposed on the neighboring populations. A relaxation in this maintenance of the defense infrastructure can have serious consequences in terms of human lives and considerable material damage. The last storms and floods that hit the French territory are enough for them alone to prove it.
We know that France has 7000 km of dikes being repaired constantly. The average cost of repairs and maintenance of these dikes is about 40 Euros per year and per capita. 30 Storm Xynthia, which struck the French coast in February 2010, caused 52 casualties and more than 1 billion Euros in property damage, to which is added the cost of buying homes located in the dark zone amounting to 800 millions of euros.
When we know that according to a recent study by the Mission des Risques Naturels (MRN), 35 26 French departments would be strongly affected in the event of a storm and that more than 770 000 housing and business premises would be swallowed up, it is urgent to reconsider the means of protection of the coastline and consider other techniques in view of the announced multiplication of severe weather This emergency is not exclusive to the French territory but applies to all the territories of the world which have coastal coasts in danger.
Another maritime phenomenon occurs unpleasantly in the environment of humans and influences their living conditions: the proliferation of green algae.
In fact, this uncontrolled and uncontrollable proliferation has led to the invasion of many coastal areas, significantly disrupting the tourist interest of certain regions and generating very high collection costs.
These green algae, mainly of the ulva family, do not pose any problem in winter because of too small sizes: from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. It is only at the arrival of spring, when an increase of the luminosity and the temperature intervenes that they develop in an anarchic way thanks to the important contribution of the nutritive salts resulting from the anthropic activities.
In autumn, the future recruitment of green algae, seeks to establish itself on substrates sufficiently resistant and close to the light and air / water interface warmer in temperature to be ready to develop the following spring.
The device of the present invention is positioned at sea. It intervenes directly on the consequences of the aforementioned phenomena either: on winter storms by reducing their impact on the littoral zones, or on the proliferation of green algae by collecting them before they become problematic.
As the device is preferably implemented in the autumn to be removed at the end of the winter, by direct intervention at sea and not out of the sea, the nuisance for the residents of the coastal areas concerned will be greatly reduced.
The present invention is directly inspired by the protective effect of coral reefs which protect coastal areas by preventing storms and greatly reducing the impact of cyclones. Indeed, a coral reef can potentially absorb 90% of the impact force of a wave, thus protecting the coastline and infrastructure. Through these induced effects, the coral reef also limits coastal erosion. For example, 5 in Sri Lanka, one square kilometer of reef prevents the erosion of 2,000 m3 of coastal sediments annually.
In more than 100 countries and territories, coral reefs protect more than 150,000 km of coastline by limiting erosion or mitigating the effects of storms 10 and strong offshore waves.
Without claiming to equal the efficiency of coral reefs, the present invention aims to break the waves breaking (the hydrodynamism) at sea before they reach the coast, moving large amounts of substrate, weakening the 15 hard constructions (dikes, breakwaters, etc ...). However, it has an advantage over coral reefs: the reef is composed of hard but fragile elements, which can be destroyed by the impact of the waves, the device of the invention is flexible, it follows your shape of the wave without breaking.
Far from the mathematical calculations (Stokes approximations, Airy model, etc.) the inventor based the present invention on a simplified reasoning analyzing the two-part wave, a lower part in contact with the marine substrate and a part superior subject to the wind.
This is due to the friction at the interface between the movement of the water and the substrate, in the same way that the wind is slowed by the relief. The upper part generated by the wind remains constant in speed and direction. The duration of this wind will create the height of the wave (the longer the wind will be in force and in a given sector, the higher the wave will be).
These contradictory forces create the devastating wave breaking effect.
In its design and in the first place, the device of the invention limits the breaking of the wave by opposing it to a plan developed on a sufficiently large and flexible surface on which it will slow down and then diminish.
Second, the present invention aims to significantly limit the proliferation of green algae by providing a support on which seedlings (future green algae) can be fixed during the winter period. They will be removed at the same time as the device of the invention in the spring, they will be destroyed then by drying, without fermentation because of too small sizes.
The present invention relates to a mobile and transportable device for protecting littoral zones against the consequences of storms and the proliferation of algae, composed of four independent and cooperating main elements:
(a) A fishing net, preferably of the ocean tuna seine type. b) A set of floating units (buoys) to maintain said fishing net on the sea surface. c) A set of connecting elements for holding said fishing net attached to the seabed. d) A set of dead bodies immersed to maintain locally said fishing net in position.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the ocean-tuna seine-type fishing net is spread over the sea surface, maintained in this position by means of floating elements and fixed locally by means of floating elements. associated with submerged dead bodies.
Contrary to the common use of an oceanic tuna seine, most often used submerged vertically at sea, the device of the present invention resorts to a horizontally extended ocean tuna seine, flat on the surface of the water and maintained in this position by a large amount of floating elements.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the ocean tuna seine used in the device of the invention has a length of about 1600 meters and a depth of about 280 meters. Thus, extended horizontally on the surface of the sea, the tuna seine of the device of the invention has a horizontal plane of length 1600 meters and width 280 meters, an area of about 45 35 hectares. The weight of a commercial standard ocean tuna seine is around 70 tonnes. Consequently, in order to reduce the constraints due to this
However, in order not to impair the efficiency of the device it is preferable not to divide the surface of the device in more than three or four parts of equal length.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oceanic tuna seine used in the device of the invention has on each of its two lengths a sufficient quantity of floating elements, for example marine floats commonly used by commercial fishing. , as well as buoys preferably foamed to maintain it in a horizontal position on the surface of the sea. These two lengths of floats and buoys will subsequently be called "external floating lines".
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the buoys preferably foamed are of different shape and / or color from those of the floats of the invention, in order to differentiate them from each other and are positioned between said floats at regular intervals, to locate the attachment points of the device connecting elements with dead bodies immersed and resting on the seabed. They will be referred to as "positioning buoys".
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oceanic tuna seine of the device has over its entire length and at regular intervals of its width, several floating lines consisting mainly and only of successively placed floats, to form floating lines. referred to below as "intermediate floating lines". These lines are intended to enhance the buoyancy of the oceanic tuna seine of the invention. Thus, in a calm sea situation, the planes of the seine between each floating line are much less submerged than if the seine was maintained by the only floating lines outside. However, the very weight of the seine tending to bring the floating lines together, a submerged part of the seine always remains between each floating line. The outer floating lines then being brought closer to one another, the installed device only shows the lines of floats and buoys. When the wind forces, it pushes the floating lines, the net of the seine stretches, the hollows between the floating lines are reduced substantially increasing thus the surface of the seine opposed to the hydrodynamics.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, only the two outer floating lines of the device are firmly connected to the submerged dead bodies which rest in the seabed, by means of connecting elements themselves connected equally firmly to the points of contact. fixing the two external floating lines at the location of each of the positioning buoys. The seine device is preferably attached to the seabed by as many connecting elements as there are dead bodies placed on the seabed and fixing points on each of the outer floating lines.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the effectiveness of the device is conditioned by the weight, the number and the positioning of the dead bodies. Thus, depending on the place of installation and the wind force these parameters can be adjusted in order to enhance the efficiency of the device.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the dead bodies whose weight greatly contributes to the effectiveness of the device are preferably made of vibrated concrete and therefore of high density. They are manufactured in dimensions particularly adapted to their function and for example of reduced height compared to their external dimensions. It is best recommended for a dead body of 1.5 tons not to exceed a height of 20 to 25 centimeters. In order to reinforce their attachment on the marine substrate, they have a concave bearing surface that acts as a suction cup. They are on the other hand provided with a fastening element, for example of the Organo type of diameter 34.
Placed on the seabed in line and with respect to the floating lines and so as to be connected to said external floating lines of the seine device and more specifically to the connection points marked thereon by the foamed buoys, they are for example 20 meters apart, in an amount of 160 units in the case of an ocean tuna seine net with two external floating lines of 1600 meters in length.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the connecting elements intended to connect the two outer floating lines of the seine to the immersed dead bodies are most often constituted by two chains assembled together by means of a highly resistant element. example of shackle type. These strings are hereinafter referred to as "parent" and "daughter".
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, one of the ends of the main chain of the connecting element is connected directly to the dead body, the other is connected to one end of the daughter chain. The main chain consists of large section links, usually 30 millimeters and has a length ranging from 2 to 3 meters depending on whether it is placed upstream or downstream of the device of the invention. For example, 3 meters side outdoor floating line oriented full sea side and 2 meters side outdoor floating line oriented coastal side. The main chain is fixed firmly to the dead body for example by means of a shackle made preferably in a high-strength material compatible with immersion in a marine environment, usually 24 millimeters section. It is generally kept on the ground by its own inertia and moved by the force of waves, thus dampening the effects of the swell.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the daughter chain of the device is usually made of links of lesser section, for example 14 millimeters in diameter and has a length sufficient to allow the movements of the device ensuring optimum results. of operation, usually 1.5 times the depth of the sea at high tide, at the place of installation.
The free end of the daughter chain is firmly connected to the outer floating line for which it is intended for the connection point marked by the presence of a buoy foam.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the implementation of the device of the invention involves the use of the same amount of connecting elements (parent and daughter chain associated) that there are dead bodies and points of attachment marked by a buoy foamed on each of the outer floating lines. Only the outer floating lines are connected to the dead bodies by the connecting elements (associated parent and daughter chain). Intermediate floating lines are usually free and simply intended to limit too great immersion of the seine that would alter the efficiency of the system.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention the device of the invention is placed at sea in a place of depth close to 10 meters. In greater depths the effectiveness of the device is substantially diminished. To be as effective as possible, the seine of the device of the invention is arranged perpendicular to the prevailing wind.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the device of the invention is set up each year before the autumn storms, for example in early October, to be removed the following spring, for example at the end of March to be cleaned and stored in a manner that does not interfere in any way with the summer nautical activities. The entire device at sea is obviously marked day and night to secure navigation.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the seine of the device being most often 1.6 km in length, a more extensive protection of the coastline can be obtained by positioning several devices in extension of one another with a sufficient gap between them to allow access to the coast. To maximize the protection of the coastline, devices of shorter length can be installed in certain areas.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, when the device is raised from its marine position at the beginning of the summer period, the seine is spread over a preferably sandy area for at least a fortnight to allow the destruction of algae. green by drying and without fermentation because of too small sizes. During the period when the device is not used, some maintenance work is generally undertaken to prepare the device for refitting in the fall or in the event of a weather alert. The installation or uninstallation time of the device of the invention can be evaluated according to the weather and the means implemented between one and two weeks.
The following description with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of non-limiting examples will make it possible to understand how the invention can be put into practice.

The present invention relates to a mobile and transportable device for protecting littoral zones against the consequences of storms and the proliferation of algae, composed of four independent and co-operating main elements: a) A fishing net preferably of the oceanic tuna seine type ( 1). b) A set of floating units (2) for holding said fishing net (1) on the sea surface. c) A set of connecting element (3) for holding said fishing net (1) attached to the bottom marine. d) A set of submerged dead bodies (4) for locally holding said fishing net (1) in position.
(Voir FIG 1). According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the ocean tuna seine type fishing net (1) is spread over the sea surface, maintained in this position by means of floating elements (2) and fixed locally to the sea surface. means of connecting elements (3) connected to immersed dead bodies (4). (See FIG 1).
Contrary to the common use of an ocean tuna seine, most often used submerged vertically at sea, the device of the present invention uses an oceanic tuna seine (1) extended horizontally, flat on the surface of the water and maintained in this position by a large amount of floating elements (2).
Ainsi, étendue horizontalement sur la surface de la mer, la senne de thonier océanique (1) du dispositif de l'invention présente un plan According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oceanic tuna seine (1) used in the device of the invention has a length of about 1600 meters and a depth of about 280 meters. Thus, extended horizontally on the surface of the sea, the oceanic tuna seine (1) of the device of the invention presents a plan
The weight of a commercial standard ocean tuna seine is around 70 tonnes. Accordingly, and with the aim of reducing the stresses due to this weight in transport, placing at sea and maintenance, the ocean tuna seine (1) of the device of the present invention can be cut into several parts in its length. However, in order not to impair the efficiency of the device it is preferable not to divide its surface in more than three or four parts of equal length.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oceanic tuna seine (1) used in the device of the invention has on each of its two lengths of floating elements consisting for example of marine floats (F) commonly used by professional fishing, as well as buoys (B) preferably foamed to maintain it in a horizontal position on the surface of the sea. These two lengths (LFE1, LFE2) of floats (F) and buoys (B) will subsequently be designated : external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2). (See FIG 1 and 2).
(Voir FIG 2). According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the buoys (B) preferably foamed are of a shape and / or color different from those of the floats (F) of the invention, in order to differentiate them from each other and are positioned between said floats (F) at regular intervals, for locating the points of attachment of the connecting elements (3) of the device. They will be designated below: positioning buoys (B). (See FIG 2).
(Voir FIG 1). According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the oceanic tuna seine (1) of the device has throughout its length and at regular intervals of its width, several floating lines (LFI) consisting mainly and only of floats (F ) successively placed, to constitute additional floating lines hereinafter referred to as Intermediate Floating Lines (IFL). These lines are intended to enhance the buoyancy of the oceanic tuna seine (1) of the invention. Thus in a calm sea situation, the planes of the seine (1) between each floating line (LFE and LFI) are much less submerged than if the seine (1) was maintained by the only external floating lines (LFE1, LFE2). However, the very weight of the seine (1) tends to bring the floating lines (LFE and LFi) between them, a submerged part of the seine (1) still remains between each floating line (LFE and LFI). The external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) being then brought closer together the installed device only reveals the floating lines (LFE and LFI) of floats (F) and buoys (B). When the wind forces, it pushes the floating lines (LFE and LFI) and tends to move them away from each other, the net of the seine (1) stretches, the hollows between the floating lines (LFE and LFI) are reduced substantially increasing the surface of the seine (1) opposite to the hydrodynamism. (See FIG 1).
(Voir FIG 1 et 2) According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, only the two external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) of the device are firmly connected to the submerged dead bodies (4) which rest in the seabed, by means of connecting elements (3 ) themselves also firmly connected to the attachment points of the two external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) at the location of each of the positioning buoys (B). The seine (1) of the device is preferably connected to the seabed by as many connecting elements (3) as there are dead bodies (4) placed on the seabed and attachment points on each of the outer floating lines (LFE 1 and LFE2). (See FIG 1 and 2)
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the effectiveness of the device is conditioned by the weight, the number and the positioning of the dead bodies (4). Thus, depending on the place of installation and the wind force these parameters can be adjusted in order to enhance the efficiency of the device.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the dead bodies (4) whose weight greatly contributes to the efficiency of the device are preferably made of vibrated concrete and therefore of high density. They are manufactured in dimensions particularly adapted to their function and for example of reduced height compared to their external dimensions. It is preferably recommended for a dead body (4) of 1.5 tons not to exceed a height of 20 to 25 centimeters. In order to reinforce their attachment to the marine substrate, they have a concave bearing surface that acts as a suction cup. They are on the other hand provided with a fastening element for example of the Organo type of diameter 34 (0). Placed on the seabed in line and so as to be connected to the external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) of the seine (1) of the device and more precisely to the attachment points marked thereon by the positioning buoys (B), they are for example arranged in the seabed at twenty meters from each other, in the quantity of 160 units in the case of an oceanic tuna seine (1) comprising two external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) 1600 meters in length. (See FIGs 3a and 3b).
(Voir FIG 4). According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the connecting elements (3) intended to connect the two external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) of the seine (1) to the immersed dead bodies (4) consist of two chains ( CM and CA) assembled together by means of a highly resistant element for example of the shackle type (MA). These strings are hereinafter referred to as "parent chain" (CM) and "daughter string" (CA). (See FIG 4).
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, one of the ends of the main chain (CM) of the connecting element (3) is connected directly to the dead body (4), the other is connected to one of the ends of the the girl chain (CA). The main chain consists of large section links, usually 30 millimeters and has a length ranging from 2 to 3 meters depending on whether it is placed upstream or downstream of the device of the invention. For example, 3 meters on the outside floating line (LFE1) facing the open sea and 2 meters on the outside floating line (LFE2) facing the coast. The main chain (CM) is firmly connected to the dead body (4) for example by means of a shackle made preferably in a high-strength material compatible with immersion in a marine environment, usually 24 millimeters section. It is generally kept on the ground by its own inertia and moved by the force of waves, thus dampening the effects of the swell. (See FIGS. 1 and 4) According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the daughter chain (CA) of the device is most often constituted by links of lesser section, for example of 14 millimeters in diameter, and has a sufficient length. to allow movement of the device ensuring optimum operating results, usually 1.5 times the water level, as shown in the charts.
The free end of the daughter chain (CA) is firmly connected to the external floating line (LFE) for which it is intended for the point of attachment marked by the presence of a buoy (B) foamed (See FIG 2 and 4).
Selon le mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, ta mise en place du dispositif de l'invention implique le recours à la même quantité d'éléments de liaison (3) (chaîne mère CM & chaîne fille CA) qu'il y a de corps morts (4) et de points d'attache repérés par une bouée (B) moussée sur chacune des lignes flottantes extérieures (LFE1 et According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the implementation of the device of the invention involves the use of the same amount of connecting elements (3) (motherboard CM & daughter chain CA) that there is of dead bodies (4) and attachment points marked by a buoy (B) foamed on each of the outer floating lines (LFE1 and
LFE2). LFE2). Only the external floating lines (LFE1 and LFE2) are connected to the dead bodies (4) by the connecting elements (3) (mother line CM & daughter chain CA). The intermediate floating lines (LF () are most often free and simply intended to limit too great immersion of the seine (1) which would alter the effectiveness of the system (see Fig 1 and 4).
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention the device of the invention is placed at sea in a place of depth close to 10 meters. In greater depths the effectiveness of the device is substantially reduced. To be as effective as possible the seine (1) of the device of the invention is arranged perpendicular to the prevailing wind.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the device of the invention is set up each year before the autumn storms for example early October, to be removed the following spring, for example at the end of March, to be cleaned and stored until the spring of the following year, so as not to disturb in any way the summer nautical activities. It is obviously marked day and night to inform navigation.
(Voir FIG 5). According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the seine (1) of the device being most often 1.6 km in length, a more extensive protection of the coastline can be obtained by positioning several devices in extension one of the other with sufficient lag between them to allow access to the coast. To maximize the protection of the coastline, devices of shorter length can be installed in certain areas. (See FIG 5).
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, when the device is raised from its marine position at the beginning of the summer period, the seine (1) is spread over a preferentially sandy area for at least a fortnight to allow the destruction. green algae by drying and without fermentation because of very small sizes. During the period of non-use of the device, some maintenance work is generally undertaken in order to prepare the device for re-installation in the autumn or in the event of a weather alert. The time of installation or uninstallation can be evaluated according to the weather and the means implemented between one and two weeks.
