The sleeve is extended by a right flat metal part (5) from left, and the sleeve is extended by a flat metal part extending to right, where the right and left twist bars are held in hands. A set of ends of the metal parts is equipped with a set of machined notches (4) in a specific direction.

Description

The present invention relates to an instrument used in the operating room during operations of the spine, in order to bend and preform the spinal rods before the final blocking of the latter. Similar systems are known for which there are many disadvantages. Indeed, for all the existing systems, it is impossible to cross the irons in which case the torsion force is terribly reduced. On the other hand, the notches apprehending the stem most of the time tend to rip on the spinal rod, a phenomenon traditionally observed. The present invention is characterized in that the instrument consists of two separate parts held in each hand "in the manner of a handlebar". The two pieces are made for one of a prolonged handle from the left side, for the right hand, a metal plate curved downwards and for the other a metal handle from the right side, for the left hand, a metal plate curved downwards. When the instrument composed of the two parts is in function, the two curves intersect and bear against each other when handling both in one direction and the other. To cause this crossing of the two parts, the curved portion has a recess on its height and length to cause, during use, a moving bearing point corresponding to the specific requirement of the torsion of the spinal rods. The recessed portion of the left curve is the opposite of the right curve so that the crossing can be done in a perfect alignment. The two curves have inside the recess vertical grooving to further strengthen the holding of the virtual axis when supporting the two instruments against each other. On the other hand the notch which apprehends the spinal rod being at the base of the two instruments is round inside, of a diameter greater than the entrance of the said notch, so that at the least movement both sleeves, the spinal rod can in no case out of the notch. This outfit is supported by a chamfer located on both sides of the notch.

The invention is described below according to a particular non-limiting embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 shows the right bar-bend.

Figure 2 shows the left torsion-bar. - Figure 3 shows the notch apprehending the rod. Figure 4 shows the two irons crossed in support, front view. Figure 5 shows the two crossed irons in support, seen from above. Figure 6 shows the base of the two crossed irons apprehending the spinal rod. Figure 7 shows the two notches in action when bending a spinal rod.

With reference to these drawings, the entire device according to the invention is composed of two parts (1, 2). - In Figure 1 the part (1) is the right bar-twist whose handle is extended by a metal plate (5) to the left. The latter is hollowed out from the inside (6) and curved downwardly, having a vertical internal groove (3), allowing effective hooking during handling, as well as an end notch (4). ) coming to wrap the spinal rod. - In Figure 2, the piece (2) shows the left bar-twist whose handle is extended by a metal plate (7) going to the right. The latter is hollowed out from the inside (8) and curved downwardly, having a vertical internal groove (9), allowing effective engagement with the workpiece (1) when it is in contact with the workpiece (1). against each other when handling them. In turn she comes to wrap the spinal rod with its notch end (10). FIG. 3 represents the tip of the left and right bar bends (5, 7) having a notch (4, 10) open at its base, whose dimension (11) is slightly greater than the diameter of the rod. The inner diameter of the notch (12) will be greater than the size of its entrance to capture the spinal rod and prevent it from razing at the first bending movements. This holding is reinforced during bending by the chamfers (13) located on either side of the notch. - Figure 4 shows the two benders (1,2) crossed, with their respective grooves (3,9) in abutment against each other. The notches (4,10) apprehend the spinal rod (14) and on a movement forward or back on the sleeves (1,2) the torsion is done according to demand thanks to the three supports concretized by the two notches (4,10) enveloping the spinal rod and the central support of the two twists-bars. - Figure 5 shows the two coupled twisting bars (1,2) in vision from above, such that the practitioner sees them during the operation. The grooves (3,9) can be used at different distances thus allowing the choice of the spacing of the torsion and thus changing the radius of the bends. - Figure 6 shows in section and top view of the spinal rod (14) passing through the two notches (4,10) and the crossing of irons (1,2), the virtual axis of this coupling is by the grooves (3,9) interlocking into one another. - Figure 7 shows the tip of the two irons (1, 2) represented by two notches (4, 10) which after action have bent the spinal rod (14) at the convenience of the surgeon.
