Abstract

The pinion (1) has an outer gear tooth (1a) followed by a cylindrical bearing supporting a jaw clutch washer (3). The washer is axially supported against the gear tooth and is provided with axial dog clutch teeth (3a). The washer has another cylindrical bearing arranged between an end of one of the dog clutch teeth and a square flank of the gear tooth to receive a flat thrust washer (4) forming an abutment for clutch sleeve teeth, during engagement of corresponding gear. The thrust washer is fixed on the jaw clutch washer. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an idle pinion of a gear box.
