Description
OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method of diagnosing a burner installed in the exhaust gas duct of the internal combustion engine to clean the exhaust gases of the engine and supplied with fuel in a system. of fuel from the fuel tank by a fuel pump via a stop valve. The invention also relates to a device for implementing the method defined above. State of the art Such combustion gas burners are for example used to heat an exhaust gas cleaning installation more rapidly, by catalytic effect, downstream of the burner in the exhaust gas installation of a internal combustion engine, after the cold start of the internal combustion engine to reach the operating temperature of the exhaust cleaning plant. For this, the burner is fed directly with fuel and the fuel line of the burner derives from the upstream pipe for supplying fuel to the internal combustion engine. DE 42 15 134 A1 describes such a burner. DE 195 04 184 A1 discloses a method of managing an exhaust gas burner for the regeneration of a particulate filter of a diesel engine. According to this document, it is known to activate the exhaust gas burner once a certain state of charge has been detected to start the regeneration of the particulate filter (also called a black smoke filter). It is intended to ensure an early implementation of the exhaust gas burner if the temperature of the exhaust gas downstream of the particulate filter 30 exceeds a certain threshold. Such exhaust gas burners are currently used in conjunction with other exhaust systems to clean the exhaust gases of stationary diesel engines. The burner itself is only one
As a result, there is currently no diagnostic function for such exhaust gas burners. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention aims to develop a method for diagnosing an exhaust gas burner. The invention also aims to develop a device for carrying out the method. DESCRIPTION AND ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION For this purpose, the subject of the present invention is a process 10 of the type defined above, characterized in that, to diagnose the burner, actuators are definedly controlled in the fuel supply system and in the fuel system. the burner air supply system and an analysis of the values provided by the sensors installed in the fuel supply system and in the air supply system and from the reaction of the values provided by the sensors at the control of the actuators we conclude to the correct operation of the burner. The invention also relates to a device for diagnosing a burner installed in the exhaust gas duct of an internal combustion engine for cleaning the exhaust gases of the engine and having as part of a a fuel supply system of the burner, a fuel tank, a fuel pump and a shut-off valve through which the fuel feeds the burner, said diagnostic device being characterized in that the fuel pump, stopping and a metering valve and an air pump of the burner air supply system are controlled by a diagnostic unit and the signals of a pressure sensor installed downstream of the shut-off valve. the flow direction of the fuel and those of an air mass flow meter installed on the inlet side of the air supply system are operated by the diagnostic unit. This method according to the invention and this device for implementing the method make it possible, in the context of a diagnosis
A fault in the system or its handling is detected and allows taking appropriate measures to avoid damage to the environment and the system. For the diagnosis of the fuel system of the burner a preferred variant of the method provides for a leakage check of the shutoff valve, a control of the entire system, a leakage control of the entire system and / or a control of the burner metering valve. This allows an overall diagnosis of the fuel system by monitoring all components of the system. A variant of the method provides for the sealing check of the shut-off valve, to start the fuel pump and to exploit the signal provided by a pressure sensor installed downstream of the shut-off valve in the direction of passage. fuel. If the pressure remains at its rest value, for example at the ambient pressure, it is concluded that the stop valve is tight. If, however, the pressure should increase this would be an indication of a seal leakage of the shut-off valve or its opening. We can distinguish between these two cases by exploiting the rise in pressure; a slow rise in pressure makes it possible to conclude rather with a lack of tightness. The control of the entire system when the fuel pump is activated consists in opening the shut-off valve and using the pressure curve supplied by the pressure sensor. The pressure thus increases to a target value given by the design of the system, for example a mechanical overflow valve; it can be concluded that the entire system does not have a significant leak. If, on the other hand, the pressure remains at the initial value (for example the ambient pressure) or increases only slightly, the following faults can be diagnosed: a) the fuel pump is defective: if no increase in pressure is observed, 4 b) the pressure sensor is defective: if no increase in pressure occurs, c) the shut-off valve has not opened or opened only slightly: if there is no pressure increase or only a very small increase, d) the fuel tank is empty or almost empty: if no rise in pressure or a brief change in pressure occurs, e) the entire system is not watertight : if there is a significantly lower increase in pressure. By exploiting the absolute rise of the pressure and / or a variation of the rise in pressure as a function of time, which is done by calculating the derivative of the pressure as a function of time, it will be possible to distinguish the cases mentioned above. for example by comparing it to appropriate thresholds. A variant of the method provides that, to control the tightness of the entire system, the shut-off valve is closed when the fuel pump is activated and the fuel pump is turned off when the shut-off valve is closed to measure the pressure. evolution of the pressure with the pressure sensor and exploit the signals obtained. If the pressure remains constant on a target value, the entire system is sealed. But if the pressure decreases slowly, it means that the entire system has a leak. It will be possible to control the metering valve if, when the fuel pump is neutralized, it is open for a definite time and the evolution of the pressure is exploited by the pressure sensor. If the pressure remains constant this means that the metering valve has not opened. If the pressure drops sharply, it means that the metering valve opens correctly. According to a preferred variant of the method, the burner air supply system is diagnosed by controlling the air supply of the burner and for this purpose the air pump feeding the burner is started and the signal supplied by a mass flowmeter is used. air. If the mass flow remains at its initial value, that is to say at zero kg / h for the air mass, there is either a defect in the air pump or a defect in the air. mass flow meter of air. If the mass flow increases to a target value, it can be concluded that the air supply system is working properly. According to a preferred variant of the device, the diagnostic unit comprises a command executing the diagnostic method 5 by the following steps: - sealing check of the shut-off valve, - control of the entire system, - control of the sealing of the entire system, - check of the burner metering valve, and / or - check of the air supply and in case of faults, display of the corresponding operating faults. It will thus be possible to carry out an automatic diagnosis of the burner by displaying the corresponding operating faults by a display for the user of the internal combustion engine, for example in the form of a light and / or transmitting signals to the main control of the engine which saves them in a fault memory. The operation of the diagnosis described above can be implemented as a program in the diagnostic unit which can integrate an independent component or be provided in the main control of the motor. A preferential application of the method described above provides an on-board burner diagnosis as part of the monitoring of the exhaust gas cleaning system of a diesel engine. Particularly in the case of fixed motors, ie engines of construction machines, military vehicles, etc., such burners are used so that this possibility of diagnosing the burners makes it possible to avoid sufficiently in time in fault, damage to the environment and the system. Drawings The present invention will be described below in more detail for a method of diagnosing a burner and a diagnostic device of a burner shown in the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic view of a fuel system of a burner,
La figure 2 montre également schématiquement un système d'alimentation en air 20 du brûleur 30 montré avec sa soupape de dosage 31 faisant partie de l'installation de gaz d'échappement 1 en FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic view of an air supply system of the burner; FIG. 3 is a diagrammatic sectional view of the burner structure; FIG. 4 shows a flow chart of the diagnosis of the burner system; FIG. fuel supply, - Figure 5 shows another flow chart of a diagnosis of the air supply system. DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION FIG. 1 schematically shows the structure of a fuel supply system 10 of a burner 30 mounted in the exhaust gas line 40 of an internal combustion engine and making part of an exhaust system 1. The burner 30 is supplied with fuel 11 from a fuel tank 12 via a fuel pump 13. The fuel supply system 10 comprises in the direction of passage of the fuel 11, downstream of the fuel pump 13, a shutoff valve 14 and a pressure sensor 15. The burner 30 has a metering valve 31 integrated in the burner. The burner 30 is for example a combustion gas burner from the company Eberspacher. According to the invention, the fuel pump 13, the shut-off valve 14, the pressure sensor 15 and the metering valve 31 of the burner 30 are connected to a diagnostic unit (this unit is not shown in FIG. 1). The fuel pump 13, the stop valve 14 and the metering valve 31 can be controlled at least from time to time as actuators for diagnostic purposes by the diagnostic unit; the signal curve provided by the pressure sensor 15 will be used by the diagnostic unit. It is expected that both the absolute value and also the derivative as a function of time of the sensor signal will be compared to specific thresholds or setpoints and in case of deviation one will draw conclusions as to a fault situation. FIG. 2 also schematically shows an air supply system 20 of the burner 30 shown with its metering valve 31 forming part of the exhaust gas installation 1
The air is transferred by a pump 23 to the burner 30 and at the input a mass air flow meter 22 determines the air flow rate. The mass air flow meter 22 is for example a hot film flow meter (HFM flowmeter). The signals of the air mass flowmeter 22 can also be operated by the diagnostic unit (this unit is not shown in FIG. 2). The air pump 23 can be activated at least from time to time by the diagnostic unit. Figure 3 shows schematically the structure of the burner 30 which has a substantially cylindrical structure; the fuel 11 and a part of the air 21 pass as internal air 21.1 through a metal sheet 32 to be burned on the surface of this sheet; another part of the air 21 arrives as outside air 21.2 around the metal fabric 32 to thus ensure complete combustion of the fuel 11. The burner 30 is ignited by a spark plug 33 electrically heated from time to time to ignite the mixture fuel / air. A thermo element 34 monitors the ignition of the burner 30. The glow plug 33 and the thermoelement 34 can also be connected to the diagnostic unit and be correspondingly controlled or by the operation of the signals. FIG. 4 shows an exemplary flow chart 100 for the fuel system diagnostic method of the burner 30. A functional block (I) 101 starts the fuel pump 13 and a functional block (II) 102 determines the fuel pressure and calculates deviations from a model. By the request (I) 103 it is determined whether there has been a rise in pressure. If this is the case, the result (I) 104 is diagnosed as corresponding to a stop valve 14 not sealed or open. If a pressure increase is detected, the functional block (III) 105 opens the shut-off valve 14. By the request (II) 106 it is again determined whether there has been a rise in pressure. If this is not the case, the result (II) 107 is that the shut-off valve 14 does not open, the fuel pump 13 is defective, the tank 12 is empty or the system is empty. not waterproof; these situations will thus be diagnosed; to distinguish the possibilities, as described above, we use the absolute value or the derivative in
If there is no increase in pressure which is determined using interrogation (III) 108, it can be diagnosed as result (III) 109 that the system is not waterproof. If the increase in pressure is greater, in the functional block (IV) 110 the shut-off valve 14 is closed and in a functional block (V) 111 the fuel pump 13 is neutralized. By the request (IV) 112 it is determined if the pressure is constant. If this is not the case, it is diagnosed that the system is not waterproof (result (IV) 113). If the pressure remains constant, in a functional block (VI) 114 is opened the metering valve 31 of the burner 30. In another request (V) 115 is determined whether the pressure remains constant. If so, the result (V) 116 is diagnosed that the diagnostic valve 31 is closed or does not open. If the pressure decreases predictably, it is diagnosed as result (VI) 117 that the fuel supply system 10 is operating normally. FIG. 5 shows another execution diagram 200 for example for the functionality of the diagnostic method for the air system 20 of the burner 30. In the functional block (I) 201, the supply pump is first started. in air 23 and in a functional block (II) 202 is provided the signal of mass air mass meter 22. If against all expectations, the mass flow does not increase what is determined using the request 203, we diagnostic result (I) 204, a defect of the air pump 23 or mass air flow meter 22. If the mass flow increases, it is diagnosed as result (II) 205 that the air supply system 20 is working properly . The flowcharts 100, 200 of FIGS. 4, 5 are preferably implemented as a program in the diagnostic unit while also being able to be stored in the form of modelable set points which compare the sensor values obtained after a corresponding activation of the actuators. in the fuel supply system 10 or in the air supply system 20 to be compared to these values. The method and the device for carrying out the method according to the invention make it possible, as part of a diagnosis
