Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for planting seedlings of nearly spherical shape in a well oriented manner, that is with the root plate at the bottom and the neck at the top. Currently, seedlings such as onion bulbs for seed production are machine-grounded in a groove. The plants are then oriented randomly because their shape is practically spherical. It is then necessary to straighten them, the operation of manually orienting them so that the root plate is below in order that the plant can grow normally, with the roots down and the future stem up. This straightening operation is manual, and prior to ridging earth is mechanized. The plant can then begin to grow. The planting operation is therefore done in 3 distinct and separate phases: distribution of the bulbs in the furrow, manual recovery, ridging. The planting operation is long, at a time of year when the weather is random making the working conditions difficult. The device according to the invention makes it possible to mechanize the straightening operation. It consists of two chutes positioned end-to-end, forming an angle between them, the whole being slightly inclined with respect to the horizontal and moving with a movement back and forth close to the horizontal, in the large axis of the guides. The secondary chute is more inclined than the primary chute. The plants are fed upstream on the primary chute which aligns them by sliding them down towards the secondary chute by the movement back and forth. The plants then arrive on the secondary chute whose inclination with respect to the horizontal is stronger, which makes them roll on themselves until this rolling is interrupted at the moment when the collar of the bulb, shaped prominent frustoconical point and diametrically opposed to the root plate, touches the bottom of the chute. At this stage the seedlings all have the same orientation and then slide to the end of the secondary chute with the root tray facing upwards. Finally, the plants fall from the second chute, whose end has a shape detail, which triggers during its fall a rotational movement of the plant around a horizontal axis passing through the center of gravity of the plant and perpendicular to the major axis of the guides. The drop height is set so that the rotation is a little more than half a turn, so that the plants fall to the ground in the furrow with the root plate down well oriented.
For optimal operation and in particular to adapt to the type of plant, the ambient humidity and the unevenness of the ground, various adjustments are possible: the shape of the section of each of the 2 chutes, the general angle of inclination, the angle between the primary and secondary chutes, the amplitude of the movement back and forth, the frequency of this movement. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 represents the device of the invention from the front. Figure 2 shows the device of the invention in profile.
With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a primary chute (1) in the form of a receptacle for plants fed in zone (3). The movement back and forth (W) advances the plants in the bottom of the 2 troughs (1) and (2) of the zone (3) to the zone (6). The zone (4) is the alignment zone of the plants that will pivot in zone (5) until the collar touches the bottom of the secondary chute (2). Then the plants will slide down in zone (6), to finally fall while turning on themselves thanks to the detail of form (7). According to particular embodiments: - the 2 chutes (1) and (2) are welded at a fixed angle. - The inclination (a) of the 2 chutes is adjustable to compensate for the slopes of the ground - the 2 chutes (1) and (2) are articulated so that the angle (b) is adjustable 20 -the inclination (a ) 2 chutes is adjustable to compensate for the slopes of the ground. - The movement back and forth (W) is provided by a crank system, whose frequency and amplitude are adjustable. the fixing of the two troughs (1) and (2) is ensured by oscillating levers with circular movement around a median position adjustable slightly inclined with respect to the vertical. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for planting seed onion bulbs. It can be mounted on a planter, which traditionally comprises a hopper, tracer tracers, a device for dosing and distribution on the ground. The device according to the invention is mounted downstream of the metering device which feeds it, and ensures the distribution in the furrow of the bulbs which are then well oriented. Downstream, it is possible to mount a ridging device on the planter. Thus, the device according to the invention allows the planting of bulbs in a single pass where it had 3: distribution of bulbs in the groove, manual rectification, ridging.
