Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a traction bolt having a double stop mechanism to prevent inadvertent loosening of the latter. Such bolts are used in many applications requiring a high safety with respect to the risk of loosening, more particularly for aeronautical applications such as engine attachment fasteners on aircraft. Such bolts are subjected to severe vibratory conditions and must at the same time transmit significant forces without any play. To this end the tension installed in the bolt during tightening must be kept under all circumstances. The resistance to the fatigue stresses to which these bolts are subjected imposes a drawing limiting stress concentrations likely to be sites favorable to the initiation of cracks. This requirement excludes many obstacle braking devices such as flip nuts.
A known solution of the prior art is to use a nut whose crown, itself threaded, generally placed on the opposite side to the bearing face of the nut is deformed elliptically, its section then having a major axis and a small axis. When tightening the nut on the screw, which is cylindrical of circular section, this ring deforms, returning to a circular section, and thus installs a significant stress on the flanks of threads, a constraint which opposes the loosening of the 'nut. This solution has the advantage of not introducing geometric stress concentrations in the nut or screw compared to the same unbraked solution. It is therefore particularly suitable for highly stressed traction bolts. However, this solution of the prior art is not always satisfactory and, when subjected to high vibratory stresses, such nuts are able to loosen. There is therefore a need for traction bolts able to withstand high fatigue stresses but having greater safety against loosening, without increasing their mass.
To meet this need, the invention proposes a traction bolt comprising: a screw pierced with a radial hole; a nut having a bearing face; and, at the end opposite said bearing face, a crown. Threaded elliptical section, extended by a crowned ring of internal diameter greater than the thread diameter of the thread of the nut - a pin adapted to be inserted in a slot and in the radial hole of the screw.
Thus the nut object of the invention comprises a double braking mechanism. The first braking, constituted by the ovalization of a threaded ring, makes it possible to stop the nut after having installed the adapted tension in the screw. The cooperation between the slots and the pin makes it possible to stop the nut in rotation relative to the screw by obstacle and to preserve the pre-tension in the screw even in case of loss of ovality of the elliptical crown. The internal diameter of the crenellated portion, greater than the diameter at the bottom of the nets makes it possible to considerably reduce the concentration of geometrical constraints at the junction between the crenellated part and the thread of the nut. Thus, surprisingly, by reducing the material section of the crenellated portion, the strength of the nut is increased so that this castellated nut can be used for a pull bolt, whereas it is, according to the prior art, used more specifically for bolts working in shear, that is to say, undergoing only moderate axial stresses at the threaded portion.
Advantageously, the nut comprises between the elliptical ring and the bearing face a form of maneuver, the elliptical portion being of outside diameter less than the envelope diameter of the operating form. Thus the elliptical portion can be more easily shaped during the manufacture of the nut.
The pin used to stop the nut is preferably a cotter pin, this type of pin allowing a good compromise between the efficiency of the stop of the nut and the drilling diameter of the hole in the screw. Given their reliability, such bolts are advantageously used in engine attachment devices for aircraft. They make it possible to form easily removable engine fasteners when operations of removal of said engines are necessary during the life of the aircraft. The invention will now be more specifically described in the context of its preferred embodiment, in no way limiting, shown in Figures 1 to 3, in which: - Figure 1 shows in perspective the 3 essential elements of the invention, the screw (1A), the nut (1B) and the pin (1C) the three elements are not represented on the same scale; - Figure 2 shows a side view and in axial section of an embodiment of the nut; and FIG. 3 illustrates an embodiment of an assembly using a traction bolt according to one embodiment of the invention. FIG. 1, according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the traction bolt comprises a screw (1), which comprises at one end (11) a maneuvering shape comprising a bearing surface (111), connected to a cylindrical body (10) terminated at the opposite end to the operating form by a threaded portion (12) of circular section. The threaded portion is pierced radially through a hole (13) of diameter adapted to receive a cotter pin (3).
The nut (2) comprises a bearing face (211), surmounted by a maneuvering shape (21) and at the end opposite the bearing face, a ring (25) cut radially by slot openings. (23). The threaded length of this nut is chosen sufficient so that said nut can transmit traction forces at least as great as those that can be transmitted by the screw. 2, the nut is traversed by an axial bore comprising a threaded portion (22) adapted to engage the thread (12) of the screw and at the crenellations (23) a recess (230) of a diameter greater than the thread diameter so that the inner wall (230) of the crenellated portion of the ring does not contact the top of the threads of the screw when the nut is screwed thereon. The ring (25) of outer diameter less than that of the operating form (21) comprises a threaded portion on a height (251) between the end of the operating form and the crenellated portion of the ring. During the manufacture of the nut, the ring (25) is ovalized by deformation. This ovalization of the threaded height (251) located in the ring (25) serves to brake the nut on the screw. 3, according to an example of assembly of 3 pieces (100, 101, 102) by a bolt according to one embodiment of the invention, the cylindrical portion (10) of the screw is tensioned between the face of support (111) of the screw and the bearing face of the nut (211), by tightening the nut (2) at the end of the screw.
The installation of this voltage makes it possible to ensure a constrained contact in compression at the interfaces between the parts thus assembled, and the transmission from one part to the other of the force flows. The ovalization of the threaded portion (251) of the ring gear (25) ensures a first stop in rotation of the nut and thus the preservation of this prestressing after tightening the assembly.
Once the pre-tension is fitted, the pin (3) is inserted into the hole (13) made at the end of the screw, so that the pin passes radially through the screw and two diametrically opposite slots of the nut ( 2). Thus the nut remains immobilized in rotation by the pin even in the case where the ovalization of the nets in the crown would be insufficient to slow it down given the conditions of service to which it is subjected. For aeronautical applications such as attaching engine attachments, the screw and the nut are advantageously made of a nickel-based alloy having a temperature resistance, corrosion and mechanical strength adapted. A nickel alloy comprising chromium and iron, known under the trade name INCONEL ® 718 is particularly suitable for this type of application. In order to avoid any seizure phenomenon between the screw and the nut, a surface coating may advantageously be applied to the threads of the nut. By way of non-limiting example, a silver coating is effective. This coating also makes it possible to reuse the same screw and the same nut in case of disassembly and reassembly of the connection by bolt. Thus, the double stop mechanism makes it possible to use nuts having received a silver coating and which are easily removable without compromising on the safety when the device is loosened. The above description clearly illustrates that by its different characteristics and advantages, the present invention achieves the objectives it has set for itself. In particular, it allows greater security to loosen a pull bolt, while preserving its ability to disassemble and reuse.
