Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to motor vehicle seats and the protection of the occupants in case of shocks. More particularly, the invention relates to a vehicle seat back, extending between a lower part located downwards, and an upper part located upwards, said backrest having a front face intended to serve as support for the back of a user, and said file comprising: - a rigid frame, - a protective device mounted on the rigid frame in an upper part of the front face of the backrest so that a rearward force, applied to the upper part of the front face of the backrest, is transmitted at least partially to the protection device, said protection device having a rest position and comprising at least one deformable element able to undergo deformation when a force directed towards the rear and greater than a first predetermined threshold is transmitted to the protection device by the front face of the file, - padding interposed between the protective device and the back of a user. Such motor vehicle seat backs are known in the prior art and are intended to protect the occupant, including his neck and upper back, by absorbing energy due to impact. However, in the prior art, this deformable, energy-absorbing element is elastic and at least partially restores energy towards the occupant's back, and this element tends to favor a rebound effect. harmful. It seemed useful to perfect the seat backs to avoid this inconvenience.
The invention aims to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above. For this purpose, according to a first aspect, the invention provides a seat backrest characterized in that the deformable element is able to at least partially retain said deformation after cessation of the application of said force. Thanks to these provisions, the energy absorbed at the moment of impact is not returned to the upper back of the occupant of the seat, which avoids the rebound effect. The deformable element of the protective device may be of elastic nature and be retained in the compressed position by a retaining device. The deformable element of the protective device may also be an element whose plastic deformation is predetermined. In various embodiments of the invention, one or more of the following arrangements may also be used: the protection device comprises a support member and the deformable element is formed by an elastic member, the support member being movably mounted on the frame between a rest position and an erased position where said support member is moved rearward opposite the front face when is subjected to said force greater than said first predetermined threshold, the elastic element normally returning the support member towards its rest position, the protection device further comprising a retaining device adapted to retain the support member in its erased position, so as to prevent the return of the support member to the rest position when the support member has reached the erased position; - The retaining device comprises first retaining means integral with the armature and complementary retaining means integral with the elastic member or the support member; the first retaining means are in the form of one or more notches and the complementary retaining means are in the form of one or more hooks; - The retaining device is adapted to retain the support member as soon as the support member has been moved beyond a predetermined stroke from its rest position; - The support member is further elastically deformable, when in its erased position, it undergoes a rearward force greater than a second predetermined threshold; - The support member is rotatably mounted relative to the frame, about a substantially horizontal transverse axis parallel to the front face of the backrest; the deformable element is able to deform plastically under the effect of said force greater than the first predetermined threshold; the protection device comprises at least one wire having a first portion integral with the armature and at least one second portion parallel to the front face of the backrest, and an intermediate portion forming the deformable element, the intermediate portion being suitable for plastically deformed by said force greater than said first predetermined threshold. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle seat, comprising a file comprising one or more characteristics above. Figure 9 is a partial schematic perspective view of the seat back, according to a second embodiment of the invention; - Figure 10a is a schematic side view of the seat back of Figure 9, the protective device being in the rest position; - Figure 10b is a schematic side view of the seat back of Figure 9, the protective device being in the deformed position. In the different figures, the same references designate identical or similar elements.
FIG. 1 shows a general view of a transport vehicle seat, said seat having a seat 50, a backrest 51, and a headrest 52. Said seat can be mounted in the vehicle in the traditional orientation, that is, an occupant 60 sitting on the seat will be facing the road, directed towards the normal direction of travel of the vehicle, or said seat can be mounted in the vehicle back to the road 'it is that is, an occupant sitting on the seat will be back to the road, the opposite of the traditional orientation. In the following description, the `rear 'direction (AR) will mean the direction located on the side of the back of the user 60 on the seat while the` front' direction (AV) will mean the direction on the opposite side, to the front of the user and this whatever the direction of assembly of the seat as explained above. According to a first embodiment of the invention, the backrest 51 comprises a frame 1, a padding 4 and a protection device 10, which is located on the front face of the seat back, opposite the part upper 61 of the back of the user 60. This protection device 10 protects the user 60 from a shock from the rear, the rear being defined as above, in a manner to be described later. In Figure 2a, the covering cap and padding 4 usually equipping the backrest 51 are not shown. The frame 1 of the backrest comprises two lateral uprights 1a, 1b, on each side of the backrest, and a crossbeam 1 which extends between the upper portions of each of the uprights 1a, 1b, and which contains headrest guides 40. The armature 1 is preferably rigid, and made, at least for its structural parts, of metallic material. Due to the curvature ld (Fig. 1) of the lateral uprights 1a, 1b, the upper part of the reinforcement, comprising the upper portions of each of the uprights 1a, 1b and the crossbar 1c, is shifted rearwardly with respect to general plan from the front of the file. Thus the protection device 10 can be housed between the frame 1 and the upper back 61 of the user 60. This protection device 10 comprises an elastic element 2 which will be described later and a support member 3, which is described below. The support member 3 is a thin piece which extends generally parallel to the back 61 of the user 60, and comprises in the illustrated example two support portions 3a, substantially flat and extending in a substantially parallel plane to the front face of the seat back 51, these bearing portions 3a being connected by a depression 3b profile shaped `V ', the bottom of the` V' protruding towards the rear direction `AR '. On the two support portions 3a can come to rest the upper back 61 of the user 60, while the depression 3b is based on the elastic element 2 in its middle part 2c. From the lateral ends of the bearing portions 3a respectively extend on each side a tab 3d having a journal 7 (see also Fig. 4), directed outwards, the two journals 7 being aligned on a parallel axis and of which the axis is substantially horizontal. The support member 3 is mounted on the armature by means of a hinge, which in the illustrated example is a rotational assembly about a substantially horizontal axis Y1, this axis Y1 passes through the uprights the frame 1, substantially in the curved portion 1d of the amounts of the armature 1. In the uprights 1a, 1b are provided bearings 8 centered on said axis Y1 which receive the pins 7 of the support member 3, already mentioned above. . The support member 3 can be made in the illustrated example of plastic or sheet metal.
It is understood that the support member 3 could have another shape and could be articulated differently on the frame, by sliding or otherwise, without departing from the scope of the invention. The elastic element 2 is interposed between the support member 3 and the cross member 1c. It is in the form of a thin metal part comprising a central portion 2b in the form of a domed frame and four lateral tabs 2a extending from each of the corners of the frame 2b (see also FIG. amounts 1a, 1b. The central portion 2b has a bending 2c which protrudes perpendicularly to the general plane of the frame 2b, in the direction of the support member 3. This elastic element 2 is made of metallic material and has good elasticity. This elastic element 2 is for example obtained from a metal sheet cut by stamping and deformed to give it the necessary bending, so as to give it an elasticity similar to that of a leaf spring. Figures 2a and 2b show the protection device 10 in the idle state, in particular, the support member 3 is at its rest position. As illustrated in FIG. 2b, and in more detail in FIG. 6, the end of lateral lugs 2a form with notch-shaped housings 12 formed in the crossmember 1c a retaining device 6 whose operation will be detailed. thereafter. This retaining device 6 comprises first integral retaining means of the armature, in this case notches 12 (FIG 6) and complementary retaining means integral with the elastic element 2, in this case hooks 13, 14 formed on the lateral lugs 2a of the elastic element 2. Furthermore, the armature is provided with recesses 16 which allow access to the complementary retaining means 13,14.
The operation of the protection device, still according to the first embodiment will now be described. Figures 3a and 3b show the protection device 10 after loading, for example when a rear impact has been experienced by the seat and its occupant 60. Referring again to Figure 1, if a shock from the direction the back of the occupant and the seat back against each other, as this force tends to crush the occupant's head and head 52 against each other. In this case, the upper back 61 of the occupant 60 exerts a force F towards the top of the backrest and in particular towards the protection device 10. In FIGS. 3a and 3b where this situation is represented, the support member 3 is moved from its rest position to a position called the erased position in which the elastic element 2 is elastically deformed, due to the force exerted by the bottom of the V-shaped profile 3b of the body 3. The energy of the relative displacement of the upper back 61 is thus absorbed by the deformation of the elastic element 2. By deforming, the elastic element 2 takes a shape less convex than that of its state of rest and consequently, the lateral tabs 2b move outwards, as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 6. If the crushing is sufficient, the already mentioned retaining device is triggered, that is to say that the hooks 14 located on ch 2a each side leg 2a move outwardly and, since the side tabs are adapted to flex, the hooks 14 reach and exceed the position of the notch 12 vis-à-vis so that the hooks 14 are then locked in the notches 12 integral with the frame. In this way, the elastic element 2 is retained in a position that substantially corresponds to the erased position of the support member 3, and the support member 3 is thus retained in the erased position to avoid the effect of rebound and energy return to the back of the user 60. Of course, other forms of lockable retaining means known in the art can be used. Similarly, the complementary retaining means could be installed on the support member 3 and not on the elastic element 2, which would lead to an equivalent result. In Figure 7 is illustrated a typical diagram showing the displacement of the bearing portions 3a of the support member 3, depending on the force exerted by the upper back of the occupant. Zone 88 corresponds to the zone of elastic deformation of the support member 3 and the elastic element 2. If the force exceeds a predetermined threshold Fi, then the stroke exceeds the predetermined threshold di, and the retaining means 6 lock the position of the elastic element 2 as described above. On the other hand, as long as the force exerted remains below the predetermined threshold F1, the deformation is reversible, the protection device 10 returns to its rest position (FIGS. 2a and 2b) in the absence of force. In cases where the force exceeds the predetermined threshold Fi, it is desirable to avoid the rebound effect that would occur if the system were reversible. Thus, thanks to the presence of the retaining device 6, the rebound effect can be avoided because the elastic element 2 is locked in the compressed position and can not restore the energy to the back of the occupant. In addition, advantageously according to the invention, the support member 3 can plastically deform, in case of a force greater than a second predetermined threshold F2, to absorb the excess energy. The support member 3 then moves beyond the erased position, to an extreme position shown in FIG. 5. The wings 17 of the 'V' profile of the support member 3 open. by deforming in the deformation plastic zone of the material of the support member 3. The zone 89 illustrated in Figure 7 shows that this area is beyond the elastic zone already mentioned. Furthermore, when the retaining device 6 is triggered and retains the elastic element 2 and the support member 3 in the erased position, it is possible to return the system to its initial position by unlocking the retaining device 6. To do this, through the access provided by the recesses 16 mentioned above, it is possible to access the complementary retaining means 13, 14 and tighten them towards each other (cf. 6) according to the arrows marked 19 in Figure 6 so that the hooks 14 escape from the notches 12. Thus the elastic element 2 returns to its shape and its initial position, the indentations 13 repositioning next to the notches 12 The shape of the elastic element 2 and can be optimized by tests or calculations to allow an ideal match of the energy absorbed by the elastic deformation of the elastic element 2 when it is crushed between the body of support 3 and the crossbar lc, with respect to the need for dissipation for the energy of the upper back of the user. Similarly, the shape of the support member 3, the dimensional characteristics of the 'V' shape of the depression 3b can be optimized by tests or calculations in order to obtain an ideal match of the energy absorbed by the plastic deformation of the 'V' shape compared to the additional need for dissipation for the energy of the upper back of the user. Thus, the force-versus-force characteristics shown in Figure 7 for the top of the backrest can be optimally chosen for the protection of the upper back in relation to the protection provided by the headrest of the seat. According to a second embodiment of the invention, represented in FIGS. 1, 9, 10a and 10b, the backrest 51 comprises a frame 1, a padding 4 and a protection device 10, which is located on the front face of the backrest. seat, vis-à-vis the upper portion 61 of the back of the user 60. This protection device 10 protects the user 60 from a shock from the rear, the rear being defined as above, d a way that will be described later. In Figure 9, the covering cap and padding 4 usually equipping the backrest 51 are not shown. The frame 1 of the backrest comprises two lateral uprights 1a, 1b, on each side of the backrest, and a crossbeam 1c which extends between the upper portions of each of the uprights 1a, 1b and which contains headrest guides 40 The armature 1 is preferably rigid, and made, at least for its structural parts, of metal material. Due to the curvature Id (Fig. This protection device 10 comprises a deformable element 20, which in the example shown is a metal wire. This wire 20 first comprises two first portions 21 integral with the frame 1, fixed to the crossbar by fixing lugs 42. The attachment can also be made by any means known in the art: clipping, welding, screwing or other. These first portions comprise the two ends of the wire 20 and each of them extends in a plane parallel to the face of the crossbar ic, with the shape of an inverted `L 'in the illustrated example. This wire 20 further comprises respectively in the extension of the first portions 21 two intermediate portions 23 projecting from the cross and downwards. In extension of each of the two intermediate portions 23 extends respectively a horizontal section 25 directed outwards, parallel to the general plane of the folder. Then, in extension of each horizontal section 25 extends respectively a vertical section 24, oriented upwards. Finally, between the upper ends of the vertical sections 24 extends a second portion 22 which connect the latter together. This second portion 22 is substantially horizontal and is positioned facing the upper back 61 of the user 60. The upper back of the user is thus positioned vis-à-vis the second portion 22 and vertical sections 24 The padding 4, interposed between the upper back 61 of the user and the portion of the wire 20 formed by the second portion 22 and the vertical sections 24 distributes the force over a sufficient area so that the maximum effort punctual is not too high for the upper back 61 of the user. The section of the wire 20 is chosen by tests and / or by calculations so that the plastic deformation which will be described in detail later is optimal with respect to the effect of the protection sought. The operation of the protection device according to the second embodiment will now be described.
Figure 10a shows the protective device 10 at rest and Figure 10b shows the protection device 10 after loading, for example when a rear impact has been experienced by the seat and its occupant 60. Referring again to the figure 1, if a shock from the rear direction is sustained, the inertial force tends to crush the occupant's back 61 and the seat back against each other, just as this force tends to crush the occupant's head and the headrest 52 against each other. In this case, the top of the back 61 of the occupant 60 exerts a force F towards the top of the backrest and in particular towards the protection device 10. In FIG. 10a, the second portion 22 is at a distance of distance and first portions 21. The force F is substantially perpendicular to the plane formed by the second portion 22 and the vertical portions 24. When this force F is relatively small, the wire 20 is deformed in the elastic domain, thanks to the portions intermediates 25 which work in torsion, and thus in this case the wire 20 returns to its initial position when the solicitation ceases. When this force F exceeds a predetermined threshold F1, the intermediate portions 24 undergo stresses greater than those of their elastic domain and then deform plastically. This then results in a crushing of the device 10 which is shown in Figure 10b, which results in a permanent deformation. The distance between the second portion 22 of the first portions 21 is then smaller than el. In the case of this second mode, the deformation is irreversible and the device can not be returned to the initial position.
The deformable element 20 of the protection device 10 could have another shape: any other type of configuration for the deformable element 20 can be envisaged as a folded or curved plate, tubes of axes parallel to the plane of the file, or other , since this configuration comprises a first part bears on the armature 1 and a second part on which rests the upper back of the user, and an intermediate portion adapted to deform plastically. Similarly, the deformable element 20 is not necessary in metal but could be in any other material capable of deforming plastically beyond a certain effort.
