The present invention relates to a vehicle brake amplifier, in particular for a motor vehicle. More particularly, the invention relates to such a braking amplifier comprising an outer casing provided with a front shell and a rear shell and defining a front depression chamber and a rear chamber separated by a central wall mounted between the shells to allow a variation of the volume of the rooms. In known vehicles, such braking amplifiers are mounted on the apron separating the engine compartment and the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The apron is covered with layers for example felt type to isolate the cabin noise from the powertrain. Modern diesel engines with direct fuel injection generally emit a lot of noise that tends to pass the deck at locations where sound insulation layers can not be present. This is the case in particular at the location of apron bushings, such as those located at the interface of the brake booster and the brake pedal, especially since the envelope of the booster amplifier braking is made of thin sheet metal that can easily be crossed by sounds that are then transmitted to the cabin. One solution is to add a felt-like coating to the front shell of the brake booster to cap said hull and to soundproof it. In some cases, the liner is slit and holed so that it can be disposed on the braking amplifier in a vehicle assembly shop when the brake booster is mounted on the apron. The liner is slotted to allow mounting around a block having the master cylinder of the hydraulic brake circuit of the vehicle and is perforated to allow the passage of the vacuum outlet fitted on the front hull. The acoustic efficiency of such a cracked and holed coating is not optimal, in particular because the slot locally degrades the acoustic performance. In addition, the coating is difficult to arrange on the brake amplifier and may be degraded during assembly. In other cases, the coating is not split and it is disposed on the brake amplifier during assembly of the brake amplifier, before assembly of the block comprising the master cylinder. The assembly of the block on the envelope is then more delicate because of the risk of deterioration of the coating. In addition, the handling of the brake amplifier in the vehicle assembly shop requires precautions to avoid damage to the coating. Another disadvantage of the insulating coating disposed to cap the front hull is that of hiding a traceability label usually placed on the front hull for reading a bar code in order to record the relationship between the amplifier number of the hull. braking and vehicle number in order to be able to organize vehicle recalls in the event of a problem or defect on a series of brake boosters. The traceability label must be doubled and also be glued to the insulation.
The insulating coating disposed to cap the front shell also has the disadvantage of being expensive because it must resist over time the environmental constraints of the engine compartment such as high temperature, low temperature or fluid projections.
The present invention is intended to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.
For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a brake amplifier for a vehicle, in particular for a motor vehicle, comprising an outer envelope provided with a front hull and a rear hull and delimiting a separate front chamber and a separate rear chamber. by a central wall mounted between the hulls to allow a variation of the volume of the rooms. In this braking amplifier, the front shell has its inner face facing the central wall covered with a sound-absorbing material so as to attenuate the transmission of noise from the outside to the inside of the envelope, which allows avoid that the envelope forms a sound box in which the noise amplifies.
Le bord périphérique intérieur de la membrane 42 se termine par une lèvre 46 enserrant de façon étanche la surface périphérique extérieure d'un piston creux d'assistance 48 disposé selon l'axe A. In various embodiments of the braking amplifier according to the invention, one or more of the following arrangements may also be used. the rear shell has its inner face facing the central wall covered with a sound-absorbing material so as to attenuate the transmission of noise from the outside to the inside of the envelope; the sound-absorbing material of each shell is in the form of a substantially annular layer whose geometry corresponds to the geometry of the inner face of the shell that the layer covers; the soundproofing material covering each shell is held by gluing on the inner face of the corresponding shell; the sound-absorbing material covering each shell has its periphery maintained being wedged between the shells at the interface thereof; at least one of the hulls having a shape of revolution comprising a flat central portion substantially perpendicular to an axis of revolution of the shell and opened by a substantially circular central mouth centered on the axis, a frustoconical portion, a substantially peripheral portion; tubular and an annular end portion serving as an interface between the two shells for their assembly, the sound-absorbing material covers the central flat portion; at least one of the shells having a form of revolution comprising a flat central portion substantially perpendicular to an axis of revolution of the shell and opened by a substantially circular central mouth centered on the axis, a frustoconical portion, a substantially tubular peripheral portion and an annular end portion serving as an interface between the two shells for their assembly, the sound-absorbing material covers the frustoconical portion; at least one of the shells having a form of revolution comprising a flat central portion substantially perpendicular to an axis of revolution of the shell and opened by a substantially circular central mouth centered on the axis, a frustoconical portion, a substantially tubular peripheral portion and an annular end portion serving as an interface between the two shells for their assembly, the sound-absorbing material covers the substantially tubular peripheral portion. Furthermore, the subject of the invention is also a vehicle comprising an engine compartment and a passenger compartment separated by an apron, a braking system comprising a hydraulic circuit provided with a master cylinder, a brake pedal in the passenger compartment and an amplifier. a thrust rod which is connected to the master cylinder, a control rod is connected to the pedal and which is fixed relative to the deck in the engine compartment. In this vehicle, the braking amplifier is in accordance with the invention and the sound-absorbing material is adapted to attenuate the transmission of engine compartment noise towards the passenger compartment via the chambers of the braking amplifier, which makes it possible to avoid that the envelope forms a sound box in which the noises amplify and are transmitted to the cabin. Other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of one of its embodiments, given by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawing showing a section of the amplifier of FIG. braking according to the invention. The pneumatic brake booster 10 according to the invention shown in the drawing comprises an outer casing which is intended to be placed in the usual way between the brake pedal of a vehicle and the master cylinder controlling the hydraulic braking circuit of the vehicle. . The envelope of the braking amplifier 10 is fixed on the apron by means of screws 11. By convention, the part of the braking amplifier turned towards the master cylinder is called "front" and of the brake amplifier facing the apron and the brake pedal. In the drawing, the front is on the left and the back is on the right. The envelope of the braking amplifier is provided with a front shell 12 and a rear shell 14 having substantially a symmetry of revolution about an axis A. Each shell 12 and 14 has a flat central portion 16 substantially perpendicular to the axis A and opened by a substantially circular central mouth centered on the axis A, a frustoconical portion 18, a substantially tubular peripheral portion 20 and an annular end portion 22 serving as an interface between the two shells for their assembly . The inside of the envelope is partitioned by a central wall 30 which is generally substantially perpendicular to the axis A and which defines inside the space delimited by the envelope 10 a front chamber 32 and a rear chamber 34 , the front chamber 32 permanently communicating with a source of vacuum by a sealed passage 36. The wall 30 comprises a flexible scrolling membrane 42 of elastomer, reinforced in its central portion by a metal support disc 44. The outer peripheral edge of the membrane 42, which forms a bead 45, is sealingly secured to the outer casing at the junction of the front 12 and rear shells 14 being tight in the annular portions 22. The inner peripheral edge of the membrane 42 ends in a lip 46 sealingly enclosing the outer peripheral surface of a hollow assist piston 48 disposed along the axis A.
The piston 48 is part of a mechanism 50 of known type forming a valve to manage the pressure in the vacuum front chamber 32 and the rear chamber 34 under the action of a control rod 52 connected to the pedal and actuating the mechanism 50 depending on the positions of the pedal according to the driving conditions of the vehicle. The piston 48 is integral with a push rod 54 connected to the master cylinder of the hydraulic braking circuit of the vehicle. The central wall 30 is axially movable with the piston 50 allowing braking assistance due to the depression in the front chamber 32 relative to the pressure in the rear chamber 34 according to said driving conditions. During its movements allowing a variation of the volume of the chambers 32 and 34, the central wall 30 does not come into contact with the tubular portions 20, frustoconical 18 and central plane 16 of the shells 12 and 14. A main spring interposed between the piston 48 and the front hull 12 tends to bring back the piston 48, in its rest position shown in the drawing. The envelope of the braking amplifier 10 contains layers of sound-absorbing material 60 each disposed on the inner faces of the shells 12 and 14, these layers having the function of attenuating the transmission of noise from the outside to the inside of the the envelope to prevent the envelope forms a sound box in which the noise is amplified and is transmitted to the passenger compartment especially through the piston 48 and the valve mechanism 50. In the mode of embodiment shown, the layer of sound-absorbing material 60 associated with the front shell 12 is glued on the latter and covers its flat central portion 16, its frustoconical portion 18 and its substantially tubular peripheral portion 20. The layer of sound-absorbing material 60 associated with the shell 14 is bonded to the latter and covers its frustoconical portion 18. Each layer of sound absorbing material 60 has a substantially annular shape whose geom Etria corresponds to that of the corresponding portions of the shell with which it is associated. Each layer of sound absorbing material 60 is flexible enough to fit on its shell. In the embodiment shown, it is the inner face of the front shell that is most completely covered by the sound-absorbing material because this shell is on the one hand more directly exposed to the sound waves emitted by the powertrain and other It is easier to vibrate because it is not fixed directly to the deck. The layer of sound-absorbing material 60 associated with the front shell 12 is pierced at certain locations in order to be traversed by one of the screws 11 and the sealed passage 36. Advantageously, during its deflections, the central wall 30 enters not in contact with the soundproofing material layers 60 which do not therefore disturb the operation of the brake amplifier 10. Advantageously, the layers of sound-absorbing material being protected by the sealed shells of the envelope of the braking amplifier, they are constituted by an insulating material for example felt-type possibly coupled with rubber for weighing it down, which does not need to be able to withstand all the constraints of the environment of the engine compartment. Such a material must be chosen from among those which make it possible to reduce the vibratory modes to the desired level. As the soundproofing material is protected in the shells 12 and 14, it does not require manipulation of the braking amplifier with additional precautions. Likewise, the usual traceability label can be kept. In an alternative embodiment of the braking amplifier, the soundproofing material layers cover the tubular portions and the annular end portions of the shells. Said layers are jammed at their outer periphery at the interface of the shells, between the annular end portions of the shells. For example in the case where it is flexible, a layer stuck at its periphery is also glued to its central end. In an alternative embodiment of the braking amplifier, only the front shell has its inner face covered by the sound-absorbing material which for example covers only a portion of said inner face. The sound-absorbing material may be formed by any means that attenuates the transmission of noise from the outside to the inside of the envelope.
