Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a utensil (hereinafter referred to as a hat) necessary for the provision of straps on the wheels of railway axles to allow sufficient pressure to transport them on a road vehicle platform, or mobile body. Until now, the transportation of railway axles by road was carried out using wooden bed bases for wedging and the axles were strapped at their axis. Often, the axles need to be transported to be restored. But when the axles have just been repainted, the paint on the axis (or anti-rust ...) is not yet dry, and any degradation can be detrimental to railway safety. This is why putting the straps on the axis is prohibited. This device overcomes this problem because the strap is affixed to the wheels. Indeed, the wooden hat is placed between the wheel and the strap. It thus makes it possible to have a horizontal surface above the railway section which has a partly inclined profile and a flange at its end. Figure 1 shows a detailed diagram of the hat, seen from below, from the front, from the right and from above. All dimensions listed (in millimeters) are given as an indication to allow an order of magnitude. Figure 2 shows the cap on a railway axle wheel and shows the case where the strap is disposed perpendicular to the axis of the axle. There is a strap on each wheel. Figure 3 illustrates the case where the strap is arranged parallel to the axis of the axle: there is thus a single strap for the axle. The underside of the cap is adapted to fit on the profile of a train wheel to allow a maximum contact surface thereon. The slight slope of the wheel profile (1) and the flange (2), for which a notch is provided, are taken into account. This contact is shown schematically in Figure 3 (reference (1) and (2)). The curvature of the wheel is also taken into account (5). For the arrangement of the strap, notches are provided, which allows it not to slide on the cap, both for a strap perpendicular to the axis of the axle (3) that parallel to the axis (4) . A rounding on the edge of the notch is provided to avoid cutting the strap on the fold line (6). It takes a thickness between the notch for the wheel flange and the end of the cap (reference (7) in Figure 1 right view) sufficient to prevent the wood from breaking.
