Description

The invention relates to a motor vehicle thermal and acoustic protection screen, and a method of producing such a screen.

It is known to provide a thermal and acoustic protection screen for a motor vehicle, in particular a tunnel comprising, superimposed on one another, a layer of elastic material, in particular based on felt, intended to be arranged against the sheet metal of the vehicle, and a stamped metal structure, in particular aluminum, intended to be turned towards the heat source, formed in particular of an exhaust line.

Such an assembly forms a sound insulation system mass / spring type, the mass being formed by the structure and the spring by the elastic layer. In addition, the structure has reflective thermal insulation properties provided by aluminum.

Such an arrangement has the disadvantage of being complex and expensive, particularly because of the stamping step of aluminum. In addition, the metal structure does not allow to achieve acoustic absorption in addition to the insulation, which does not allow optimal acoustic protection.

The aim of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks by proposing an arrangement that can be used in the case of moderate heat sources, in particular at temperatures of less than approximately 250 ° C., which is for example the case for non-vehicle exhaust lines. equipped with catalytic systems.

For this purpose, and according to a first aspect, the invention proposes a motor vehicle thermal and acoustic protection screen comprising, superimposed successively on one another, a structural layer of porous material, an acoustic sealing film and a layer of elastic material. The structural layer is intended to be turned towards the heat source and the elastic layer to be disposed against the sheet of the vehicle.

Structural layer means a sufficiently rigid layer to be self-supporting and thus confer on the screen this property. The rigidity of the structural layer also allows it to resist grit.

The proposed arrangement allows for a mass / spring type sound insulation system, the mass being made by the structural layer in association with the film and the spring by the elastic layer. In addition, said system has acoustic absorption properties due to the porous nature of the structural layer, which optimizes the acoustic protection properties of the screen.

According to a second aspect, the invention proposes a method of producing such a screen.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear in the description which follows, with reference to the attached figure which is a schematic representation in partial section of a screen according to one embodiment.

With reference to the figure, there is described a screen 1 for thermal and acoustic protection of a motor vehicle, in particular a tunnel or under hood, comprising, successively superimposed on one another, a structural layer 2 of porous material, a film 3 acoustic sealing and a layer of elastic material 4.

For porous material is meant for example a material having a resistance to the passage of air between 500 and 2500N.s.m-3. The film 3 also makes it possible to seal the elastic layer 4 with respect to the fluids. According to one embodiment, the structural layer 2 is based on compressed felt, in particular glass fibers, bonded with a resin, in particular phenolic.

The use of glass fibers makes it possible to achieve thermal insulation with moderate temperatures of less than about 250.degree.

According to one embodiment, the structural layer 2 has a thickness of between 2 and 5 mm, in particular of 3 mm, and a density of between 0.15 and 0.25, in particular of 0.20. According to one embodiment, the film 3 is based on a plastic material, in particular polyamide, for example having a surface density of 50 g / m 2.

According to one embodiment, the elastic layer 4 is based on felt, especially glass fibers, bonded with a resin, especially phenolic resin.

According to one embodiment, the elastic layer 4 has a thickness of between 10 and 15 mm, especially 12 mm, and a density of between 0.02 and 0.05, in particular of 0.035.

According to the embodiment shown, the screen 1 further comprises a protective layer 5, for example non-woven, arranged facing the structural layer 2 and / or the elastic layer 4, said protective layer being arranged opposite both in the embodiment shown.

A nonwoven used as a protective layer 5 may have a mass per unit area of about 100 g / m 2. It can be based on polyester which can be treated hydro / oleophobe.

According to a not shown embodiment, the screen 1 further comprises a complementary fluid sealing film disposed against the outer face of the structural layer 2. In the case where the screen 1 comprises such a complementary film and a protective layer 5 of the structural layer 2, said complementary film is disposed between said structural layer and said protective layer.

We now describe a method of producing a screen 1, not provided with a complementary film, comprising the following steps: • provide a mold heated, for example to 200 ° C, provided with a punch and a matrix provided with a vacuum suction system, • arranging in the mold a complex comprising two layers of felt provided with a resin, activated by the temperature of the mold, between which is disposed a sealing film 3, • making a mold cavity by descent of the punch, • carry out the suction so as to press said film against the layer disposed facing the die and to compress it to produce a structural layer 2, the other layer of felt forming an elastic layer 4 , • unmold the screen 1 obtained.
