The invention relates to a brake system comprising a single brake wear indicator and a wear indicator comprising a shutter integrated in its connector. The invention aims in particular to limit the cost of the braking system while facilitating the mounting of the wear indicator with a beam connector of the vehicle. The invention finds particular advantageous application in the field of disc brakes fixed or floating caliper. As shown in FIG. 1, a disk brake system 1 comprises a disc 2 rotated with the wheels of the vehicle and a stirrup 3 integral with the chassis. This stirrup 3 comprises two brake pads 5.1, 5.2 positioned on either side of the disc 2. Under the action of a force generated by the hydraulic braking circuit of the vehicle, the plates 5.1, 5.2 come into contact with the disc 2 and brake the vehicle. The pads 5.1, 5.2 have friction linings capable of friction with the disc 2. These linings are subjected to high forces and temperatures and wear over time. In order to check the wear of the plates 5.1, 5.2, an electrical wear indicator 6.1, 6.2 is implanted in a manner known in each brake pad 5.1, 5.2. There are thus two wear indicators 6.1, 6.2 3. Each wear indicator 6.1, 6.2 generates a connector 7.1, 7.2 which is connected to a beam connector (not shown) mounted on the side of the vehicle. This beam connector is generally connected to the brake control system of the vehicle. Specifically, the two brake-side connectors 7.1, 7.2 are connected to the vehicle side harness connector having two orifices, each connector 7.1, 7.2 cooperating with a port. The invention results from the observation that the two plates 5.1, 5.2 wear out in an equivalent manner over time due to the symmetry of the braking device. It is therefore possible to remove one of the wear indicators to keep only one by stirrup. This saves a wear indicator. This removal of wear indicator is done without modifying the beam connector on the vehicle side, so as not to have to make a beam connector specific to an opening only. However, if a two-aperture beam connector is used and only one of these apertures is used, there remains a free entry that is not sealed. This poses problems for sealing the electrical circuit of the vehicle connected to the harness connector. In order to solve this sealing problem, the invention uses a shutter intended to plug the free inlet. Thus, in the invention, the vehicle-side electrical harness connector is not modified and comprises two openings: the first opening being intended to be sealed by a shutter, in order to guarantee the tightness of the electrical circuit; the second opening being intended to cooperate with the wear indicator connector. The beam shutter is pre-assembled, or overmolded on the wear indicator connector from the caliper. This shutter can be plastic, rubber, or metal with a seal. The geometry of the shutter is controlled because it has the same shape as a wear indicator connector (a shape complementary to the opening of the beam connector). When assembling the wear indicator on the vehicle braking system, the operator performs the following steps: - engage the shutter in the first opening of the beam connector, - break the shutter by a rotational movement ( or other motion), and - engage the wear indicator connector in the second opening of the harness connector. Thus, the implementation of the invention by the operator is simple with a single set of operations to close the vehicle beam. The invention therefore relates to a braking system comprising: - a brake caliper, - two brake pads mounted on this caliper, - a single brake pad wear indicator implanted on one of the two brake pads, this indicator with a connector at one of its ends, and - a beam connector located on the side of the vehicle, this beam connector having two openings each adapted to receive a wear indicator connector, - one of these openings being blocked by a shutter and the other opening receiving the connector of the wear indicator. The invention furthermore relates to a brake pad wear indicator comprising at one of its ends a connector and a shutter, the connector being intended to come into cooperation with an opening of a motor vehicle harness connector. the shutter being intended to plug an opening of the beam connector, the connector and the shutter being connected to each other by a breaking zone which can break when the connector and the shutter are displaced relative to one another; the other. In one embodiment, the shutter is overmolded with the wear indicator connector. In one embodiment, the shutter is plastic, rubber, or metal with a seal. In one embodiment, the shutter has a protrusion at its end, this protuberance being encapsulated inside a hollow rod 25 of the wear indicator connector. The invention also relates to a method of mounting a wear indicator on a beam connector positioned on the side of the vehicle, this method comprising the following steps: - inserting the shutter in one of the openings of the beam connector, - detach the shutter and the wear indicator connector by breaking the rupture zone, and insert the wear indicator connector into the other opening of the harness connector.
According to one embodiment, to separate the shutter and the wear indicator connector, the wear indicator connector is rotated relative to the shutter. The invention also relates to a braking system comprising: - a brake caliper, - two brake pads mounted on this caliper, and - a single brake pad wear indicator installed on one of the two brake pads. The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows and the examination of the figures which accompany it. These figures are given for illustrative but not limiting of the invention. They show: FIG. 1 (already described): a schematic representation of a braking system according to the state of the art comprising two wear indicators, FIG. 2: a schematic representation of a braking system according to FIG. invention having a single wear indicator; - Figure 3a: a schematic representation of a conventional beam connector with two openings; - Figure 3b: a schematic representation of an end of a wear indicator according to the invention comprising a pre-assembled shutter with its connector; - Figures 4: schematic representations of steps of the mounting method according to the invention of a connector of a wear indicator on a beam connector positioned on the car side. The identical elements retain the same reference from one figure to another. FIG. 2 shows a disk brake system 1.1 according to the invention. Like the conventional braking system 1, this system 1.1 comprises a disk 2 driven in rotation with the wheels of the vehicle and a caliper 3 integral with the chassis of the vehicle. This stirrup 3 comprises two brake pads 5.1, 5.2 positioned on either side of the disc 2. Under the action of a force generated by the hydraulic circuit of the vehicle, the pads 5.1, 5.2 come into contact with the disc 2 and brake the vehicle.
However, unlike the conventional system 1, the system 1.1 according to the invention comprises a single wear indicator 6.1 implanted on the disk 5.1. This wear indicator 6.1 comprises a connector 7.1 at one of its ends intended to come into cooperation with a connector 9 of beams positioned on the vehicle side shown in FIG. 3a. More specifically, this beam connector 9 comprises a first 10.1 and a second 10.2 apertures each adapted to receive a wear indicator connector. These two openings 10.1 and 10.2 open on a face 11 of the connector 9. These openings 10.1, 10.2 are connected to cavities 13.1, 13.2 of smaller diameter than the openings 10.1, 10.2. These cavities 13.1, 13.2 are interconnected and open on a face 12 opposite the face 11 to the circuits of the vehicle control system. Thus electrical conductors can connect the circuits of the control system and the connector 9 through the cavities 13.1, 13.2. Furthermore, Figure 3b shows that the wear indicator according to the invention comprises at one of its ends a shutter 15 which is pre-assembled or overmolded with the connector 7.1. The elongated connector 7.1 is adapted to cooperate with one of the apertures 10.1, 10.2 of the beam connector 9. The shutter 15 is a solid part which has the same shape as the connector 7.1, so that it is capable of sealing one of the openings 10.1, 10.2 in a sealed manner. This shutter 15 may be plastic, rubber, or metal with a seal. The connector 7.1 and the shutter 15 are interconnected by a rupture zone 19 of low mechanical strength and small diameter. In one embodiment, the shutter 15 is assembled with the connector 7.1, so that a protrusion 21 of the shutter penetrates inside a hollow metal rod 23 of the connector 7.1, this rod 23 30 coming into contact with the walls of the connector 9. In a first step of fitting the wear indicator with the beam connector 9 (shown in FIG. 4a), the operator introduces the shutter 15 inside the opening 10. this shutter 15 abuts against the face 11 of the connector 9.
Then the operator breaks the rupture zone 19 by rotation of the connector 7.1 around an axis 26 perpendicular to the sheet or by twisting 31 of the connector 7.1 about its axis 32. During this operation, the operator retains the shutter 15 to prevent it from rotating with the connector 7.1. Alternatively, the operator pulls on the connector 7.1 by holding the shutter 15, so that the protrusion 21 escapes elastically from the rod 23 of the connector 7.1. As shown in FIG. 4b, a connector 7.1 is thus obtained which is disconnected from the shutter 15, the shutter 15 being always engaged in the opening 10.1. Then in a step shown in FIG. 4c, the operator engages the connector 7.1 inside the opening 10.2 so as to establish an electrical connection between the wear indicator 6.1 positioned on the brake pad and the circuits electronic braking control system. Alternatively, the operator first disconnects the shutter 15 of the connector 7.1 of the wear indicator, before each introduce into one of the openings 10.1, 10.2.
