Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Various methods are known for making a window in a sheet of fibrous material, in particular by using a film segment having an edge presenting a closed outline trapped in a layer of fibrous material or adhered to the layer. fibrous material. However, in the existing embodiments, the window is generally of a simple geometrical shape so that even when the authentic window is made by a segment of film whose edge is trapped in the fibrous material, it is possible for a fraudster to illusion by making a cut in a sheet of fibrous material then by gluing a segment of film having dimensions greater than the window and whose edges are applied on the periphery of the window on a face of the sheet of fibrous material. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the invention is to provide a sheet of fibrous material comprising a window whose shape is easily identifiable while presenting an increased difficulty of reproduction by a fraudster. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In view of accomplishing this object, there is provided according to the invention a sheet of fibrous material having a window formed by an annular film segment having an inner edge and an outer edge trapped in the fibrous material. The fibrous material trapping the inner edge of the annular film segment then constitutes an island of 2 fibrous material having an easily identifiable appearance and clearly distinguishable from the appearance of a segment of fibrous material reported on a film. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the annular film segment comprises perforations or a serrated edge along at least one edge. This improves the tear resistance of the film segment forming the window or the central island of fibrous material. According to another aspect of the invention, this relates to a process for producing a sheet of fibrous material comprising a window, the method comprising the steps of partially immersing in a fiber bath a porous form comprising annular masks in relief, successively deposit on the masks annular film segments having edges protruding masks in relief, and ensure the formation of a fibrous layer until the inner and outer edges of the film segment are trapped in the fibrous layer.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description of a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention, in relation to the accompanying figures of the invention. which: - Figure 1 is a schematic sectional view illustrating the implementation of the method according to the invention, - Figure 2 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the film segment used according to the invention, FIG. 3 is a partial perspective view, in section along the line III-III of FIG. 2, of a sheet of fibrous material equipped with a window according to the invention; FIG. 4 is a view of In a second embodiment of the invention, FIG. 5 is a front view of a film segment according to a third embodiment of the invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION With reference to FIGS. 1 and 3, the method according to the invention uses, in a manner known per se, a porous form 1 partially immersed in a fiber bath 2 and driven in rotation while maintaining the level of in the form 1 to a level lower than that of the bath 2. According to the invention, the porous form 1 comprises annular relief masks 3. In the embodiment illustrated, the masks 3 are made in a known manner per se by drawing the web of the porous form 1. Annular film segments 4 carried by a support strip 5 are applied successively to a mas-3 while it is outside the fiber bath 2. On note in this regard that in the case where the annular portion of the mask 3 is porous, the film segment 4 can be maintained applied to the mask 3 by a slight depression created inside the shape 1. In the case where the mask 3 has a annular portion made waterproof, for example by a varnish, it was found that the film segment 4 is maintained applied against the mask 3 by the surface tension forces resulting from the film of liquid that remains on the surface of the masks during the shape rotation 1. The film segment 4 can also be held in place by an adhesive having a low tack or a water-soluble adhesive.
The film segments 4 are appropriately sized so that the inner edge and the outer edge of the annular film segment protrude from the annular portion of the masks 3. According to the first embodiment illustrated in FIG. annular film 4 have perforations 8 along the inner edge 6 and along the outer edge 7. During the rotation of the form 1, fibers are deposited on the porous part of the shape 1 by surrounding the masks 3 and filling the porous central portion 16 of the masks 13, firstly below the edges protruding from the film segments 4 and then above them to form a layer of fibers 9 trapping the inner edge 6 and the outer edge 7 of the annular film segment 4 and thus producing an annular flange 10 visible on either side of the sheet of fibrous material and delimiting a central island 11 connected to the remainder of the sheet of fibrous material by the film segment In the second embodiment illustrated in FIG. 4, the film segment 12 has crenellated toothed edges 13 made both along the inner edge and the outer edge of the film segment 12. In this figure, the part The ring of the mask 3 has been represented by lines or dashes.
In the third embodiment illustrated in FIG. 5, the inner and outer edges of the film segment 14 are serrated according to triangular teeth 15. Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and it is possible to provide alternative embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims. In particular, although the ilustrated film segments are generally circular in shape, annular film segments having any geometrical or non-geometric shape can be made allowing easy identification of the fibrous sheet by the shape of the window. performed. In this connection it should be noted that the inner edge and the outer edge may have different shapes from each other. On the other hand, although the invention has been described by mentioning only the entrapment of the edges of the film segments in the fibrous mass, this imprisonment can be associated with a bonding by providing a coating of the edges or of the entire surface with an activatable glue during drying operations of the sheet of fibrous material. It is also possible to use, in a manner known per se, the window thus produced to obtain particular visual effects, whether these are of optical and / or chromatic order, in particular by using more or less transparent film segments in function desired effects. Although the masks have been illustrated as embossed areas of the porous form, masks reported on the porous form can also be used. Non-adherent or hydrophobic substances can also be deposited on the masks, avoiding any deposit of fibers on the masks.
Although according to a preferred method the sheet of fibrous material is made by means of a single porous form, it can be provided to produce the sheet of fibrous material according to a bijet technique. Although the invention has been described with film segments having perforations or a serrated edge along each edge of the film segment, film segments having perforations or a serrated edge can be made on only one of the edges. or combining a serrated edge with perforations, the inner edge and the outer edge not necessarily being made in the same way. Although the invention has been illustrated with film segments whose edge is perforated or serrated along its entire length, perforations or teeth can be made on only part of the contour, for example to reinforce the embedding in directions for which the sheet is subjected to significant efforts.
