Abstract
Description
ARME MICRO-ONDEMICROWAVE ARM
TECHNICAL FIELD AND PRIOR ART The invention relates to a microwave weapon. The invention applies to embedded high power microwave weapons, for example, in a missile, shell, bomb or drone type vector. The power of microwaves can be equal, for example, to some GW. According to the known art, a microwave weapon comprises a microwave generation system and a horn for focusing the microwave energy on a target in order to destroy it. The schematic diagram of such a weapon is shown in FIG. 1. The microwave generation system comprises a cathode 1, an anode 2, a generator stage power supply system of Marx Ei, Ci (i = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), and feedblocks 6, 7. The anode 2 constitutes a cylindrical enclosure 20 in which the Marx generators are placed. The cathode 1 is inserted in an electrically insulating plate 5 which closes one end of the cylindrical enclosure. The Marx generator stages consist of an alternation of spark gaps Ei 25 (i = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and capacitors Ci (i = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) immersed in a dielectric atmosphere A (dielectric oil or dielectric gas under pressure). The power supplies 6, 7 feed the stages of generators Marx. A high potential difference, typically between 100kV and a few MVs, is applied between the cathode 1 and the anode 2. The horn 3 which allows to focus the microwave energy extends, on the side of the cathode 1, the cylindrical chamber which constitutes the anode 2. A conductive sheet F electrically connected to the anode 2 separates the horn from the anode. The potential difference between cathode and anode mentioned above is then established between two planes close to each other, namely the plane Pi in which is located an end of the cathode and the plane P2 in which is located the conductive sheet F. A microwave-transparent exit window 4 closes the horn 3. The vacuum is made in the horn 3 and between the sheet F and the electrically insulating plate 5. As can be seen in FIG. cylindrical chamber 2 and the horn 3 have substantially equivalent dimensions. It follows that the microwave weapon has a large volume and mass, which is detrimental in terms of weight and bulk.
L'invention ne présente pas cet inconvénient. The invention does not have this disadvantage.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Indeed, the invention relates to a microwave weapon comprising an anode and a cathode between which a potential difference is established, a power system consisting of generator stages of Marx to establish the difference of potential and a horn to focus a microwave to emit. The power supply system comprises at least one set of stages of Marx generators connected in series, outside the horn, between a first terminal and a second terminal, the first terminal being electrically connected to the cathode and the second terminal being electrically connected to the end of the horn through which the microwave is emitted.
According to a first embodiment of the invention, the Marx generator stages are bathed in a dielectric atmosphere and an electrical insulation plate placed between the cathode and the anode separates the dielectric atmosphere from a vacuum made between the cathode and the cornet. According to a second embodiment of the invention, an electrically insulating structure surrounds the cathode and the horn taking support, on the one hand, on an extension element of the cathode and, on the other hand, on an element extension of the end of the horn by which the microwave is emitted, the horn being provided with holes, a vacuum pump for evacuating in an enclosure delimited by the cathode extension element, the electrically insulating structure and a microwave-transparent exit window which closes the end of the horn through which the microwave is emitted. According to an improvement of the second embodiment of the invention, the electrically insulating structure consists of a succession of insulating rings separated from each other by distributors, each distributor having its potential fixed by at least one stage of the generator. from Marx. In general, the microwave weapon according to the invention comprises at least one set of Marx generator stages. According to a particular embodiment, the microwave weapon comprises four sets of Marx generator stages uniformly distributed in the space that surrounds the horn.

Detailed description of modes of implementation of the invention. FIG. 2 represents the schematic diagram of a first embodiment of a microwave weapon according to the invention.
The horn 3 is used as the current feedback of the Marx generator stages. The Marx generator stages constitute a power system having a first terminal electrically connected to the cathode 1 and a second terminal electrically connected to the end of the horn 3 by which the microwave energy is emitted. A dielectric atmosphere A surrounds the horn 3 and baths the Marx generator stages. An electrically insulating plate 5 placed between the cathode and the anode separates the dielectric atmosphere k from the vacuum formed between the cathode 1 and the horn 3. Feeding blocks 6, 7 feed the Marx generator stages. Figure 3 shows a second embodiment of the invention. According to the second embodiment of the invention, an electrically insulating structure S, preferably cylindrical, surrounds the cathode 1 and the horn 3. The structure S is supported, on the one hand, on an extension element, for example a planar face, of the cathode 1 and, secondly, on an extension element, for example a flat face, the end of the horn 3 by which the microwave energy is emitted. The horn 3 is provided with holes t whose dimensions are sufficiently small in front of the wavelength of the microwaves to not hinder the propagation thereof. A vacuum pump 8 evacuates the chamber delimited by the structure S, the cathode extension element 1 and the window 4. Advantageously, the electrical insulation between the current return conductor formed by the horn 3 and the stages of the Marx generator is then without the need to bathe the stages of the Marx generator in a dielectric atmosphere (dielectric oil or dielectric gas under pressure).
According to the improvement of the second embodiment --- of the invention, the electrically insulating structure S consists of a succession of insulating rings a separated from each other by R splitters. The R splitters are conductive elements of which the potential is set by the stages of the Marx generator. It follows advantageously minimizing the risk of breakdown of the structure S. FIG. 5 represents an implementation of a microwave weapon according to the schematic diagram of the improvement shown in FIG. 4. The structure S consists of a succession of insulating rings separated from each other by the distributors R. The capacitors Ci and the gaps Ei are placed between the distributors R.25
