Abstract

The support has an adjustable self-gripping belt (2) surrounding a leg and maintaining a tibia in contact with a thin section piece e.g. spring plate (5), in form of a foam padded channel (1). The channel provides the support to be laterally rigid and flexible towards the front with a spring effect. The foam padded channel is fixed on the spring plate that is supported on top of a trail running shoe in which the support is provided.

Description

Technical Field: The invention is intended primarily for ski touring, but it can also be used for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, telemark, snowboarding and for any situation requiring support on the shins. State of the art: Currently, ski touring shoes are a compromise between contradictory qualities: Rigidity for the descent, flexibility and lightness for the climb. Despite the adjustment devices, the shoes are either 10 too soft for the descent, or too rigid to lengthen the pace at the climb, which is wasting time. Their weight makes you lose energy. Their manufacture of plastic material causes perspiration during the climbing effort and causes blisters.

The present invention is a removable tibia support, which is used in addition to a pair of shoes, to improve the maintenance of the leg during a ski descent. The skier can therefore use cramponable walking shoes, inexpensive and ideally flexible for the climb. Leather shoes limit perspiration and blistering. The weight gain between 1 and 2 kg on the pair of shoes is much greater than the weight of the invention of about 0.5 kg. The present invention consists of a tongue-shaped piece (5), constructed for example of composite materials and dimensioned to be laterally rigid, while being flexible forward with a spring effect. A stiffness perfectly adapted to the practice of skiing, can be obtained by deformation of a piece (5) of thin section, functioning as a leaf spring blade. The spring effect can also be obtained by a damper (10) interposed between an attachment point (11) fixed on the front half of the ski and a rigid rod (9) connected to a tibia support. A foam padded gutter (1) provides a comfortable tibia support. The piece (5) may consist of elements that can slide and be blocked by screws, for adjustment in height or length adapted to the size and size of the skier. A velcro strap (2) encircles the leg. Strings 10 or straps (7) tightened around the shoe by quick fasteners (6), keep the device resting on the top of the shoe (8). Rubber strips bonded under the tongue (5) prevent the device from slipping while protecting it from wear against the loops of the shoe. A cord (4) stretched between a pierced insert (3) and for example a carabiner attached to the front half of the ski, makes it possible to pre-force the device towards the front of the ski, that is to say to impose the inclination and the minimum force to be provided at the beginning of bending. List of drawings: Figures 1 and 2 show the device installed on the skier with a sectional view. Figure 3 (also figure of the abstract) represents a variant. Figure 4 shows a variant with rod and damper.

Embodiment of the invention: The part (5) can be made for example of composite materials, by laying on a template, successive layers of fibers, laminated with epoxy resin, the whole is demolded after polymerization. An adjustable self-gripping strap (2) and foam (1) can be glued with neoprene glue. Rubber bands can be glued under the tongue. The insert (3) may be an aluminum peg, with a hole for passing a cord (4). The variant of Figure 4 can be made with a damper 35 (10), machined parts of aluminum, a carbon fiber tube / epoxy (9) glued at both ends.
