The compacter is located in the median plane and has at least two interchangeable rollers (20A, 20B) on a rotary support block that turns about a horizontal axis (YY) so that one can be in the compacting position and the other(s) retracted. The compacter is located in a main support (21) that is moved vertically by a pair of power cylinders (23).

Description

The invention relates to a machine for lapping or draping a fiber web on a mold.

It is known, for example from the document US 4842684, to automatically deposit on a mold or removal tool, thanks to a robot equipped with a draping head, a ribbon or a sheet of fibers for the manufacture of various parts such as airplane wings, from a composite tape consisting of fiber elements (carbon, glass, Kevlar, etc.) glued, impregnated with a thermosetting or thermo-plastic resin, and supported on a support ribbon in paper or plastic film. The composite tape is unwound from a reel to pass over the draping head where the prepreg fiber ribbon is separated from the support tape, the latter being returned to a winding mandrel, while the prepreg is applied to the mold or the previous layers already deposited, by a compaction system generally consisting of a roller or an applicator shoe connected to the drape head. To ensure the best guidance of the prepreg, the separation of the prepreg and its support must be as close as possible to the laying roll of the layup head disposed transversely to the tape. In addition, the drape head must be movable along several axes so as to adapt to the increasingly complex shapes of the parts to be produced according to this technique. Given the shapes of the parts produced, and in particular their edges, it is not only necessary to deposit sections of full-width ribbon on four sides, but also sections of various shapes, obtained by complex cutting of the ribbon. For through cuts of simple shapes, a single-phase dispensing process is used which includes in situ cutting of the strips to be deposited and their immediate removal by the same machine. A mechanical or ultrasonic knife cuts the pre-impregnated tape directly onto its support paper without cutting the latter, which will be rewound onto the mandrel after peeling. For complex form cutting belts, a two-phase process is used, in which the cutting is done upstream in the process, with a first specialized machine and where the successive pre-cut sections are arranged on a support strip or between two protectors and wound on a cassette installed on the draping head. The Applicant has developed a double-head glazing machine, as shown in the document FR 05 07 159, each of which may be used alternately during a deposition cycle. These two sets may, for example, correspond to different depositing processes or to different bandwidths (usually 50 to 300 mm). It is thus possible to have on the double head, in other possible combinations: - monophase 300 mm and biphase 150 mm biphase 150 mm and biphase 50 mm 20 - biphase 150 mm and monophase 150 mm. - single phase 150mm and single phase 300mm A double head machine reduces manufacturing time. Although this machine is perfectly satisfactory, the Applicant has resolved to improve it further.

According to the present invention, while in the preceding machine, each depositing assembly is associated with its own compacting roller, it is now proposed to provide the double head with a compacting assembly 2894510 common to both depositing assemblies and located between them. This unique and common compaction set is capable of compacting all the bandwidths used on these heads without disassembly. In other words, the subject of the invention is a double lapping head comprising two depositing assemblies for two strip circuits disposed respectively on either side of an average plane of the double head, each deposit assembly comprising a cassette or a reel for the web and means for bringing the web to a drop station located in the immediate vicinity of said mid-plane, band-pressing means using a roll or shoe being provided at the level of the web. dispensing station, characterized in that the means are in the form of a single compaction device common to both deposit sets and located in said middle plane. In a first version, more particularly intended for cases where the bands used by the two sets are of the same width, there is a single compaction roller. In a second version, more particularly intended for cases where the band widths may be different, at least two compaction rollers are proposed which can be used and exchanged by simple permutation, in particular by rotation about an axis substantially parallel to the removal axis. One of the rollers is in the compaction position while the other or the others are in the retracted position.

7It should be noted that this principle of permutable rollers in accordance with one aspect of the invention also applies to a single head to rapidly change width without disassembling the roll in place. The invention makes it possible, by means of a single, simple and limited space device, to rapidly sequence the removal operations irrespective of the method and the necessary bandwidth and consequently makes it possible to increase the rate of availability and removal. of the means while providing the necessary adaptability (compliance) inherent in the removal process. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 is a side view of the double lapping head according to the invention. - Figure 2 is a perspective view of the removal portion of the double head of Figure 1. The double lapping head is mounted on a support device, movable along different axes, at the bottom of a beam suspended vertically to A movable gantry above the removal tool (this is the most usual orientation, but it goes without saying that the invention applies to a double head placed in any orientation). The head comprises two distinct sets A and B of strip removal, entirely on either side of a vertical plane XX (in Figure 1) passing through the place of removal 20 (not shown) on the piece to be coated, and substantially orthogonal to the direction of advance of the head on the workpiece. Each depositing assembly comprises a cassette or a reel 10 which is only partially visible in FIG. 1, from which the composite tape 11 is unwound, which then passes on a reel and arrives in a device 12 extended by a Plateau 13; in this device 12, the separating film 14 is separated and returned to the reel 15. The support film or films 16 and 14 are also returned to the level of separators rearward on one or two winding mandrels, so that only the pre-impregnated strip 17A, 17B advances 2894510 to the point of deposition defined by a roller 20A of a single compaction device 21 for the two set of deposit A and B located on either side of the plane XX in which the roller 20A (with material thicknesses near) is in the compacting position. Each strip circuit which is conventional, in particular with a cutting station and possibly a movable carriage device such as that described in the Applicant's prior document FR 05 07159, will not be described in greater detail. 2 a band 17B of width less than that of the band 17A. The compacting roller 20A shown in the low compaction position corresponds to the width of the wide band 17A. A second compaction roll 20B corresponding to the width of the narrow band 17B is placed in the retracted position on the same single compaction device 21 which carries the roll 20A. The support 21 is a block bearing on two opposite sides the rollers 20A and 20B, and rotatably mounted about a substantially horizontal axis YY, as symbolized by the arrow F, in a main support 22 which is itself vertically movable by means of two cylinders 23 with integrated guide whose body is secured to the double head. Thanks to the rotation of the support block 21, associated with indexing system 20 and / or angular fixing, it is easy to switch from one roll to another to present the roll of width adapted to the bandwidth that is going to be used. The vertical mobility of the roller provides the normal compaction force to the dispensing surface and the necessary vertical compliance with respect to the actual positioning of the workpiece surface. Finally each roll 20A, 20B is mounted in the support 21 by a device 24 allowing an elastic angular movement of the roll, to provide the necessary angular compliance with respect to the actual positioning of the workpiece surface. In other words, the system of the invention makes it possible to ensure the two compliance functions: - to drive the normal surface compliance with respect to the actual positioning of the surface of the part. providing, by means of an elastic angular movement, the information necessary for controlling the angular compliance with respect to the actual positioning of the surface of the part in the space of the depositing machine. 7
