Abstract

The vehicle (1) has a one-piece rigid opening roof with top (5c) and side (5b) panels that stows into a rear boot compartment (9) when retracted. The stowage compartment has a folding or supple cover (13) that is opened and closed manually to allow the roof to be deployed from or retracted into it as it pivots about a transverse axis (29). The cover can also be opened to give additional access to the boot for stowing or removing luggage.

Description

It is typically a convertible motor vehicle. Such a vehicle is described in particular in EP-B-901 421. Nevertheless, the retraction of the roof in the open position, tilted backwards could be considered insufficiently ergonomic and cause problems related to possible damage to the roof, by the fact that its concavity, then turned upward, can constitute a bowl suitable for receiving and retaining dirt, rainwater ..., which could be inconvenient when closing the roof over the roof. cockpit. It can also remain a problem related to the accessibility to the roof articulation zone, or even problems of difficulty of assembly and / or maneuvering. In order to provide a solution to at least some of these problems or disadvantages, all or some of the following features are proposed here: the roof, which is therefore in a single rigid articulated part, is articulated with respect to the vehicle body for be housed inside the volume of the trunk, in the open state of the roof, under the movable cover of which the trunk of the vehicle is provided, - this one-piece roof integrates, in one piece, an upper panel and panels side of rear window and reported with this roof, when hinged or tilted relative to the body, - especially for issues of cost and simplicity, it is recommended that this one-piece roof is pivotally mounted and adapted to be moved manually between its said open and closed positions, the articulation of this rigid one-piece roof is located substantially at the level of the upper belt the body of the body, the articulation of said roof is carried out about an axis located substantially below, or below, the lower edge of said rear window pane, the movable covering lid of the trunk is adapted for be opened and closed manually above this chest. Other features and advantages will become apparent from the description which follows, made with reference to an embodiment of a vehicle part according to the subject concerned and in conjunction with the appended figures, given by way of non-limiting illustration. and in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic side view of a rear portion of a vehicle according to the features here considered, in a state of the roof 25 closed one-piece above the cockpit, - Figure 2 shows the same part of the vehicle in an open, tilted rearward state of the one-piece roof, with access to the at least partially open storage trunk, - Figure 3 is a schematic view from above, on a smaller scale, of the vehicle of the preceding figures, - and Figure 4 shows a lid or cover trunk flap. Figure 1, the mark 1 relates, as a whole, to a convertible vehicle. It can in particular be a coupe / cabriolet version. The vehicle 1 has a front and rear rear AV, and a longitudinal axis X extending between the front and rear. Furthermore, the vehicle 1 comprises a box 3 dressed with a body and a rigid roof 5 mounted articulated relative to the body 3 between a closed state (Figure 1) in which it extends above the passenger compartment 7 of the vehicle (configuration cut) and an open state (Figure 2, configuration convertible) in which it has tilted to a situation away from the top of the passenger compartment. Specifically, in this open state of Figure 2, tilted rearward, the roof 5 is housed inside the volume of the trunk 9 which extends behind the passenger compartment 7. Access to the trunk 9 is conditioned by opening the device, marked 11 as a whole, which selectively closes and covers the upper cover 13, which will be favorably manual opening and closing. This cover, or even the entire device 11, could be a tilting hood, such as in particular a hood in one or more rigid parts mounted typically pivoting from the front to the rear of the vehicle to open, or be open , when the roof must be tilted between its open and closed positions.

In Figures 1 and 2, the covering device 11 which conditions access to the interior volume of the trunk 9 comprises, as cover 13, a deformable cover. It is typically a flexible or semi-rigid cover. As illustrated, it is a tarpaulin mounted on longitudinal guides 15, such as slides, between a stretched state (FIG. 1) above the trunk 9 and an accordion folded state, as in FIG. 2, or in the manner of several flaps, as fig.4. Thus, the covering device 11, and here the cover 13, extends just above the trunk 9, and more precisely above the area thereof which will receive the roof 5, once tilted towards the roof. substantially rearward horizontally as in Figure 2. This explains that the upper opening 9a of the trunk for passing the roof 5 extends longitudinally (length L, Figure 1) substantially between the front edge of the trunk and a rear portion thereof, the cover or cover 13 being open by being moved, or by being moved, backward, as shown in Figure 2. More generally, we can consider that the recovery device 11 of this rear space 9 of roof storage comprises a lightweight construction mounted movable relative to the body 3 and which is foldable and unfoldable and / or flexible, as essentially here the cover or cover 13, this light construction being adapted for tr: - folded, deformed or moved, to clear, above the storage space 9, the passage 9a for the movable roof 5, and unfolded further deformed, or moved again, to close the passage 9a, once the roof permanently tilted in volume 9 or close above the passenger compartment, as in Figure 1.

Of course, this lightweight construction, and therefore here the cover or tarpaulin 13, can also be opened and closed at will to put or remove luggage from the trunk 9, in the closed state of the roof. As an alternative to the folded solution of the cover or cover 13 illustrated in FIG. 2, it is possible in particular to note the possibility of wrapping this cover or cover, then flexible and rollable, on a reel, towards its rear edge. Note again that the cover 13 could be made in the form of slats or shutters, such that 17a, 17b Figure 4 with reference to the coverage then identified 13a. These slats may in particular be rigid or semi-rigid. Figures 1 and 2, in addition to the upper cover 13, the covering device 11 also comprises a rear gate 19 which is erected in the closed position, as in Figure 1, to then close the rear opening 9b, raised upwards , volume or safe 9.

Figure 2, it can be seen that the gate 19 is pivotally mounted relative to the body 3, towards its lower rear edge 19a, to tilt backwards to open and thus clear access to the volume 9, by the opening 9b.

The gate 19 may in particular be rigid and come in continuity with the rear side walls of the body of the trunk 9, in the manner of an element of this body (see right side 91 Figure 1). In the closed state of the gate 19, FIG. 1, its upper edge 19b covers the rear edge 130 of the cover 13 and / or the rear rear support holding member 130 of the cover or cover 13. The roof 5 is a rigid roof, in one rigid part hinged relative to the body, as seen in Figures 1 and 2, Figure 2 showing an intermediate tilting state in phantom. In its closed state, this rigid one-piece hinged roof 5 extends longitudinally between, at the front, the upper cross member 23 of the windshield of the vehicle, to which it is releasably secured by means of releasable locking schematically in 25, and the rear of the passenger compartment 7. Figure 1 it is found that, by its lateral flanks or rear quarter panels, 5a, the roof 5 overflows, in its closed state and at the rear, to the above a trunk portion 90 of the trunk 9. As can be seen, the rigid roof 5 will integrate, in one piece, an upper panel portion 5c connecting laterally, rearward, to said side portions, or side flanks, 5a, 5b which flank it laterally, behind or just behind the cockpit. These side portions or flanks 5a, 5b descend from the top of the roof (part 5c) downwards, at least substantially to the level of the upper seat belt, 27.

And it is precisely substantially at the level of the upper body belt 27 that is favorably located rear axle 29 around which the roof 5 tilts between its open and closed positions. The axis 29 is a transverse axis, typically perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X of the vehicle.

Thus, and favorably, to be articulated with respect to the body, the one-piece roof 5 will be pivotally mounted at the rear of the passenger compartment, near the front of the mobile trunk lid 11, 13. Also preferably, both the articulation of the roof 5 that its constitution, its structure will be adapted to allow it to be manually moved between its open and closed positions. To ensure this pivoting about the transverse axis 29, it has here been preferred that the lateral portions or flanks 5a, 5b each carry towards their lower portion a pivot shaft, such as the shaft 31 for the rear lateral portion 5a. in Figures 1 and 2; see also fig.3. Preferably, the roof 5 will also be provided with a rear quarter window or rear window glass 33, which can be erected in both the open and closed position of the roof. It could be a tilt-mounted telescope on the roof, on a frame attached or integrated with it.

Favorably, this window or rear window 33, which will therefore extend transversely to the longitudinal axis X, will be carried, fixed, to a frame provided at the location of the flanks or side portions 5a, 5b, at the rear of the front part 5c of the roof.

Thus, this rear window 33 moves relative to the body 3 at the same time as the entire roof 5.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, it can be seen that the articulation axis 29 of the rigid roof 5 with respect to the body is situated substantially at the bottom, or even slightly below, of the lower edge 33a of the rear window 33. also note that the pivoting mounting of this roof relative to the body around this axis 29 and, in connection with the conformation of the roof and the mounting of the rear window 33, such as, in the closed state of the roof (Figure 1), the axis 29 is located behind the telescope 33, while it passes in the open state of FIG. 2. It should also be noted that to use together a one-piece roof 5 as above and a cover (11). , 13) mobile chest both manually movable between their open and closed positions will be favorable in terms of cost, simplicity and operational safety, ease of implementation and use, or a priori assembly.
