Abstract
The actuator has a control electromagnet (5) moving an actuator axle (3) from one stable position to another stable position. A selective locking unit (8) moves between a locking position in which the unit retains the axle in the latter stable position against an axial return spring, and a releasing position in which the unit releases the axle. A lock actuating unit (8a-8c) moves the unit (8) between the locking and releasing positions. The lock actuating unit is constituted by a movable locking unit (8a), a lock exciting coil (8b), and a lock magnetic circuit (8c). Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a utilization of a bistable actuator for controlling a switch circuit of a battery for a motor vehicle (B) a utilization of a bistable actuator for moving gate of a fluid control valve (C) a utilization of a bistable actuator for actuating a mechanical locking unit in an electromechanical lock (D) a utilization of a bistable actuator for moving a conducting part opposite to a fixed electrical conductor to establish or interrupt electrical conduction in a bistable electric contactor.
