Abstract

The procedure for forming decorative relief pleats on fabrics consists of overlaying at least one first (1) and one second (2) panel of the fabric, tracing at least one line (11) from one of the panel edges, sewing a seam along a line (12a) parallel to the traced line and at a distance from it and cutting along the traced line before separating and turning the panels. The panels are then folded along two straight pleat lines (9, 10) on either side of the cut out to make pleats which are sewn and then opened out.

Description

The present invention relates to the field of sewing and more

  precisely the production of folds in relief on fabric elements capable of being connected to one or more fixed or mobile supports.

  An interesting application of the invention relates to the production of a window covering, such as curtains, double-curtains, sheers, blinds ... making it possible to obtain, in a visible and decorative manner, folds in relief, c that is, having volume effects. In a known manner, folds can be obtained by gathering a fabric sewn on a gathered tape placed on the non-visible face of the fabric. This 1o solution offers a variety of pleats, more or less dense, that is to say with

more or less spaced folds.

  However, this pleat spacing effect is the only parameter that the user can influence, so that the final aesthetic appearance is always almost the same.

  This solution is for example used with a bar on which

  rings move. A hook ensuring the connection between a ring and a housing point in the gathered tape. This solution can also be applied to all other rod systems such as rails ...

  Conventionally, it is also possible to form a fold in the fabric and then stitch 20 according to the fold in order to definitively form the fold; a hook is then inserted into the seam forming the fold, a hook which is also hooked to the linkage system. Of course, this system is frozen and if a gathered braid is used, it cannot be gathered and can only be used for fitting the hooks.

  Another known way of making folds on a fabric is to sew

  fabric tabs on its upper edge and then slide these tabs, which form passers-by, on a bar.

  Likewise, decorative clips can pinch the upper edge of the fabric, while being connected to rings capable of sliding on a bar 30 for example. This produces pleated curtains and / or sheers hung on

a cylindrical bar.

  It is also known to tie ribbons linked to the upper edge of the fabric on rings which can slide on a horizontal cylindrical bar.

  This type of pleating and hanging, simple to perform, does not confer

  however not a very advanced aesthetic aspect to the fabric.

  Furthermore, the last two techniques mentioned apply only to rods of the bar type and are in no way adaptable to rods of the rail type.

  The present invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks by proposing to produce raised, decorative folds on any type of fabric.

  A preferred but non-limiting application of the invention relates to the production of folds having volume effects on curtains adaptable to any type of linkage rail, bar or other.

  The invention can also be applied to any other element of fabric and / or to other articles such as pleating on lampshades, cushions,

  screens, blinds or any other item of furniture.

  Thus, the subject of the invention is a method intended to form at least one

  fold in relief on a fabric element formed by at least two panels.

  According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: superimposing at least a first and a second panel of fabric; - Carry out at least one route comprising at least one line defined from one of the edges of the panels; - Make at least one assembly seam along a line arranged substantially parallel to said layout at a certain distance outside said layout; - cut the panels according to the layout in order to define a cut; - discard and return said panels; fold the panels along two straight fold lines located on either side of the cutout and defined from said edge of the panels, bringing the two fold lines together against one another along a common straight line; - Make at least a first folding seam along the common straight line of the fabric thus folded; and

  - Open the fold formed between the cut and said fold seam.

  According to one embodiment of the invention, the first and

  second fabric panels a third panel consisting for example of a reinforcing fabric.

  According to FIG. 1, the start of the manufacturing process consists in superimposing at least two panels of fabric 1, 2, which can be of different and / or identical materials and / or colors.

  The height 14 of at least one of the panels corresponds to the intended use: in the case of curtains, the height 14 will be at least the total height of the curtain; the second panel 2 has a height at least equal to that b of the fold envisaged.

  By way of illustration, in the case of a curtain, the curtain itself may

  present a maximum height, while the second panel made for example of a colored fabric will present the height b in order to keep the sheer transparency.

  In the case of a double curtain, the first and second panels 10 can have identical heights, corresponding to the final measurement of the double curtain itself. This not only makes it possible to obtain the volume effect fold in the upper part of the double curtain, but also to produce a reminder of colors and / or of material if the bottom of said double curtain is raised.

  In addition, in the case of the superposition of two panels of fabric,

  Then, as illustrated in FIG. 2, a cutout 15 is made in accordance with the shape of the line 11, possibly at a certain distance (for example 5 mm) inside the line 11.

  Conventionally, notches 16, 17, 18, 19 can be made at the angles of the layout 11. This operation, which consists in freeing the angles, makes it possible to obtain a very flat assembly once it has been turned over.

  Indeed, the following stages consist in: - spreading the lower edges of the panels 1 and 2 according to the arrows F of FIG. 2 in order to open a volume between the "place" faces of the panels 1 and 2 which are, in this stage , facing each other, - further open this volume, grasp from the inside the upper edge of panels 1 and 2, for example at the point of the stitching along line 12b, and

  - Turn over the panels "like a sock", so that the seams along lines 12a, 12b, 12c are found inside the panels 1, 2, 3, that is to say not visible.

  If a reinforcing fabric 3 is present then the reversal must be done

  so as to have fabrics 1 and 2 on the outside and fabric 3 on the inside.

  It is therefore necessary to perform a folding around the area of the cutout 15.

  Preferably, the folding consists (see FIGS. 3 and 4), starting from two folding lines 9, 10 straight, perpendicular to the upper edge of the fabrics 1, 2, 3, and placed at a certain distance from the cutting, to bring back these two lines 9 and 10 towards each other by bringing them together according to the arrows P in FIG. 4 until superimposed along a common straight line.
