Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electronic wallet for storing smart cards used in particular during remote transactions with third parties.
The invention finds a very advantageous application in that it makes it possible to carry out, by means of a smart card, an electronic transaction during which the entry of a confidential code on the keyboard of a mobile telephone is presents the same keyboard to the eyes of an outside observer as a seizure among other seizures.
Currently, the means of telecommunications are undergoing considerable development and, given the techniques already available, it is reasonable to imagine that, in the near future, mobile telephones will allow a user in possession of a specific smart card to connect to the Internal site, select a service from the services offered on this site, read the smart card and authorize access to the service after entering a confidential code held by the user. The specific smart card used for a first service may be different for a second service, which poses the problem of storing these different cards. The user can store them in a classic wallet with several pockets; this wallet having the advantage of having dimensions compatible with those of the jacket pocket or a handbag. Thus, after selecting a given service, the user takes his card out of his wallet, presents it to a reader associated with the mobile phone and enters the confidential code on the keypad of his mobile phone. The first disadvantage of this process is that it requires removing the smart card from its storage, which has the consequence of, on the one hand, disclosing the possession of the smart card to malicious observers and, on the other hand, risking d '' lose the smart card or forget to put it away. The second disadvantage of this process is that entering the confidential code immediately follows the reading of the smart card. This precise sequence allows the malicious observer to pinpoint the instant of entry of the confidential code and, knowing this instant, it is easy for him to observe the keyboard keys requested by the user and to deduce the confidential code from it. .
Also, the technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to propose a smart card storage wallet which allows the user of the wallet to carry out a remote transaction requiring the entry of confidential data associated with a smart card, without handling this smart card; the remote transaction being controlled by means of a personal device provided with a keyboard and an interface module to a communication network. A solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to the present invention, in that said portfolio comprises - first radio means for communicating, at a short distance with a personal device provided with a keyboard and an interface module, a communication network, - at least one read / write means of at least one smart card, means being in electrical connection with the first means and - battery connected on the one hand to the first radio means and, on the other hand, to the read / write means to provide them with energy.
Thus, the smart card storage portfolio according to the invention which comprises a first radioelectric means, at least one means of reading / switching off at least one smart card and a battery, ensures a radio link between a smart card and a personal device provided with a keyboard and an interface module to a communication network. The radio link is established over a short distance, that is to say a maximum of a few meters. The interrogation of a smart card during a transaction with a third party is carried out by means of this radio link and the read / write means of the smart card. Thus the user does not need to handle either his wallet or a smart card contained in the wallet to carry out his transaction; the smart card being with or without contact.
According to a first embodiment, at least one means for reading / writing a smart card is a second radio means equipped with an antenna interacts with contactless smart cards by creating an electromagnetic field to extract and write information in these contactless smart cards, the second radio means being in electrical connection with the first radio means.
According to a second embodiment, at least one means for reading / writing a smart card is a smart card reader with contacts in electrical connection with the first radio means. According to a third embodiment, the portfolio includes a means for reading / writing a smart card consisting of a second radio means equipped with an antenna which interacts with contactless smart cards, and a means for reading / writing. a smart card consisting of a smart card reader with contact. Advantageously, the battery can be rechargeable or non-rechargeable, depending on the applications of the portfolio, other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear during the following description given with reference to the accompanying drawings given by way of nonlimiting examples. FIG. 1 represents, in the form of a diagram, a portfolio according to the invention in the open position.
Portfolio 1 is made up of a first section 2 and a second section 3 interior. The wallet 1 comprises pockets 4, a first radio means 5, a read / write means 6 of at least one chip and a battery 7. The first radio means 5, the read / write means 6 of a card chip and the battery 7 are, according to the embodiment shown diagrammatically, arranged on the same side of the wallet 1, in the second part 3, opposite the chip cards 8.
The arrangement between these elements is determined to obtain minimum bulk. The battery 7 is preferably arranged along an edge of the wallet 1 as illustrated so as not to disturb the electromagnetic propagation of the first radio means 5 and of the read / write means 6 of a smart card .
pochettes 4 contiennent N cartes à puce 8 et elles sont décalées entre elles de façon à être réparties sur un côté du portefeuille 1 pour minimiser leur encombrement et obtenir un rangement optimal des cartes à puce 8. pockets 4 contain N smart cards 8 and they are offset between them so as to be distributed on one side of the wallet 1 to minimize their bulk and obtain optimal storage of smart cards 8.
In the configuration where the wallet 1 is closed, all of the pockets 4 containing the smart cards 8 are folded down and, preferably, it does not cover the battery 7. This preferred arrangement of the pockets 4 makes it possible to limit the thickness of the contents of the wallet 1 by the thickness of the battery 7 alone. first radio means 5 is a known means for communicating over a short distance, at most a few meters, with either a mobile telephone terminal or a personal microcomputer or a personal digital assistant connected to a mobile telephone network, such an assistant being better known by the acronym PDA, abbreviation of the English terms Personal Digital Assistant. The radio link with the terminal, the microcomputer or the assistant can make a link known by the English terminology Bluetooth.
The reading / writing means 6 of a smart card 8 is a device which makes it possible, at any time, to read one of the smart cards 8 contained in the wallet 1 and to write to this smart card 8. This device 6 can be carried out in different modes which correspond to different applications of the portfolio 1, mode is detailed with reference to FIG. 2.
The battery 7 is connected to the first radio means 5 and to the read / write means 6 to supply them with energy. This preferably flat battery, its thickness determining the thickness of the wallet 1, and its maximum dimensions are of the order of 1.5 cm x 8 cm x 0.5 cm so that the wallet 1 has a size close to that of a classic portfolio is approximately 14 cm x 10 cm x 1 maintaining the dimensions of a classic portfolio avoids breaks in use. The choice of a type of lithium ion or lithium ion polymer battery in the previous maximum volume makes it possible to have a rechargeable battery 7 of energy capacity compatible with the functions of the portfolio.
2 shows, in the form of a diagram, first embodiment of a portfolio 1 according to the invention. This first embodiment corresponds to an application for contactless smart cards.
For this application, the reading / writing means 6 of a smart card 8 consists of a second radio means 9 equipped with a radio reception transmission antenna 10. The structure of the second radio means 9 is known to man of the trade and is therefore not described in detail.
The second radio means 9 interacts with the different contactless cards 8 contained in the wallet 1 by means of the antenna 10. During this interaction, the second radio means 9 transmits and receives information with the different cards contactless 8. The antenna 10 has the dual function of ensuring communication with the contactless cards 8 and of supplying power to these contactless cards 8. The antenna 10 can be covered with a material, such as leather, plastic, which has the function, in addition to giving an aesthetic appearance, of maintaining a minimum distance of a few mm between the antenna 10 the contactless cards 8 when the wallet 1 is closed.
The second radio means 9 comprises an electronic module, known elsewhere to those skilled in the art, which makes it possible to select a card from among the N cards without, contact 8 contained in the wallet 1. The selection is carried out according to an anti-collision protocol of the ISO 14443 standard.
The second radio means 9 is connected by wire with the first radio means 5 to allow an exchange of information between a contactless card 8 and the first radio means 5.
The position of the battery 7 relative to the antenna 10 is important, the battery 7 must not have an overlap area with the antenna 10 when the wallet 1 closed; the existence of such a zone opposing the circulation of the magnetic field of the antenna 10.
The antenna 10 has a specific shape linked to the storage of contactless cards The loop formed by the antenna 10 must partially cover each of the loops formed by the antennas of each of the contactless cards stored in the wallet 1, when the latter is closed. The shape of the antenna 10 must be adapted to the number of contactless cards and to the shape of the antenna present on each of them. The battery 7 is connected to the first 5 and second 9 radio means providing them with energy. When the battery 7 is rechargeable, recharging can be carried out according to different embodiments to which correspond different embodiments of the wallet 1. According to a first mode, the battery 7 is equipped with visible metallic zones when the wallet 1 is closed. These metal areas come into contact with the terminals of a charger when the wallet is fitted into this charger. Such a charger is adapted to the shape of the wallet and keeps the wallet being charged; this type of charger is known by the English term cradle. According to a second mode, the battery 7 is in electrical connection with a socket installed on the wallet 1. This socket adapts to a plug connected to a charger. According to a third mode, the battery 7 is in connection with a third radio means. The charger is equipped with an antenna and the battery is recharged via the electromagnetic link between the third radio means and the antenna of the charger. A second embodiment of the wallet corresponds to a wallet in which there are only smart cards with contact. Such a mode currently has the drawback that the smart card readers with contact are bulky. FIG. 3 represents, in the form of a diagram, a third embodiment of a portfolio 1 according to the invention. This third embodiment corresponds to an application for contactless smart cards and contact smart cards. In addition to the elements already described with reference to Figures 1 and 2, the portfolio includes a smart card reader with contact. The smart card reader with contact is preferably arranged in the first part 2, same side as the smart cards. This arrangement makes it possible to obtain good contact between the reader and the smart card with contact, whether the wallet is in the open position or in the closed position. In the diagram, only a smart card 11 is shown with contacts 12, this smart card 11 masking the reader located behind. When the wallet is in the closed position, the smart card 11 with contact can be superimposed with the battery 7; the functioning of the smart card 11 with contact is not altered.
According to this embodiment, the wallet 1 preferably comprises a single smart card reader with contact. Indeed, this type of reader has a size such that it is not currently possible to install several readers of this type in the portfolio while retaining the dimensions of a conventional portfolio.
FIG. 3A represents a first profile view of the portfolio in the open position. battery 7 determines the thickness of the wallet.
FIG. 3B represents a second profile view of the portfolio in the open position. This view shows the thickness of the battery 7, the storage 4 of the smart cards 8, 11 in the first part 2.
The wallet according to the invention allows, for example, a user to buy a plane ticket without going to a travel agency.
