Abstract

The unit includes a vessel with an opening (20) connected to a collector (9) which is angled to the rear to allow part of the layer of hydrocarbons in front of the vessel to be collected by natural flow. The forward speed is controlled according to the receiving capacity. The collector drains (10) contains stop valves and distribute the water/hydrocarbon mixture to selected tanks (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) to port and starboard. A large capacity seawater pump (11) returns water from the tanks to the sea via a pipe (12) and nozzle (13). It is the volume of water pumped out that defines the rate of collection of the water/hydrocarbon mixture. A hydrocarbons pump (14) transfers the decanted oil from the tanks through a pipe and nozzle to oil or slop tanks (7). These are emptied through a nozzle (17) to the outside.

Description

The present invention relates to an autonomous oil recovery and storage unit off the coast.

Large leaks from a ship form sheets that tend to disperse. Recovery must be done as soon as possible. The intervention unit is ready to operate upon arrival in the area. In this invention project, a former medium-capacity tanker could be transformed into a pollution control vessel.

The device would make it possible to recover a mixture of seawater and hydrocarbons without external pumping.

The water is pumped back to the sea by internal pumps, the recovered oil is stored on board.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention. FIG. 1 represents a section of the operating device. Figure 2 shows a top view of the device.

With reference to these drawings, the whole represents an oil tanker transformed or built for the recovery of heavy hydrocarbons on the high seas.

The hull (1) has its bow modified at the level of the waterline (22). This modification (20) consists in making an opening across the width of the boat.

The crushed funnel-shaped mouth is connected to the large collector (9) provided with drains (10) terminated by shut-off valves.

The manifold (9) inclined towards the rear of the boat is provided with a stop valve (21).

The interface (18) represents the water-oil separation zone.

In the machine compartment (8): a) the large capacity seawater pump (11) is connected to the tank bottoms by pipes and the barrel (12), the discharge (13) is discharged into the sea b ) the hydrocarbon pump (14) is connected to the decanted oil phase of the tanks and to the tank of slops by pipes and the barrel (15).

The outlet (16) is connected to the tank of slops.

The discharge (17) allows the draining towards the outside of the tank of slops. The extended mouth (20) of the large collector (9) inclined backwards makes it possible to collect, by natural flow, the portion of oil slick located at the front of the ship, the forward speed of which is adjusted according to the reception capacity.

The drains (10) of the manifold (9) fitted with shut-off valves distribute the hydrocarbon water mixture to some of the starboard and port tanks (2.3.4.S.6) chosen as receiving tanks.

The seawater pump (11) of large capacity, discharges into the sea via the barrel (12) and the piping (13), the water contained in the tanks known as in reception, it is the volume of water discharged into the sea which conditions the reception capacity of the water + hydrocarbons mixture.
