Abstract

The invention concerns an automatic gear-box (10) for a motor vehicle, comprising from upstream to downstream, a hydraulic torque converter, two coaxial upstream (14) and downstream (16) planetary gear trains, and at least a bridge (18) designed to drive the vehicle wheels (20), wherein at least an element of the planetary gear trains is linked in rotation to the bridge (18), at least en element of the planetary gear trains (14, 16) is linked in rotation to another element of the planetary gear trains (14, 16), a least an element of the planetary gear trains (14, 16) is capable of being selectively linked in rotation to a shaft (22) of a turbine (12) of the converter, and at least an element is capable of being selectively linked to a housing (19) of the gear-box (10), to set different gear ratios (AR, R1, R2, R3, R4). The invention is characterised in that the bridge (18) is capable of being directly linked in rotation to the shaft (22) of the converter turbine to provide a supplementary gear ratio (R5).
