Abstract

The invention concerns a system for submitting documents consisting of three sub-systems (SS1, SS2i, SS3i) of the designer, the beneficiary and the representative. The data are transmitted through a public network after being compressed and encrypted. The data concerning the model reach the beneficiary (SS2i) simultaneously with a reader software capable of being downloaded. Description

 The present invention relates to a system for submitting illustrated documents (models) prepared by a designer on behalf of a beneficiary with the participation of a stakeholder, the designer submitting his model to the beneficiary so that the latter can comment and changes to the speaker for the development of the model for its use.

 Such an illustrated document is already being transmitted, for example in the form of a fax. It is also possible to transmit such documents with computers in the form of color images which can be printed in color. The quality of such a print can be excellent because computer systems allow the reproduction of images with more than 16 million colors.

However, transmitting such a color image faithful to that of the original is not usual and is only done in very limited professional applications, employing powerful technical means.

 In fact, the difficulties which do not generally make it possible to transmit an image of excellent quality are linked to the volume of data of the image to be transmitted, the duration of the transmissions and the heterogeneity of the machines at the two ends of the transmission line as well. that the heterogeneity of the programs used.

 The image illustrating such a document, for example a model for a package, comprises complex composite elements: realistic illustrations of slides, drawings or texts, graphics or information in bar codes.

 The illustrations are very large BIP-MAP images and the text and drawings are vector images occupying very little space. But the result is that the file size defining such images often exceeds hundreds of millions of bytes.

 These images can be recorded on high capacity physical supports, such as magnetic or optical supports. However, their routing from the designer to the recipient by mail is relatively long compared to the time it takes to transmit information over networks.

 The remote transmission of such files to speed up their routing is possible. But as already indicated, the volume of files generates significant transmission times and, consequently, prohibitive costs; moreover, during transmission, the information is sensitive to disturbances of the networks, whether it is usual telephone networks or specialized networks.

 It is therefore very important to seek to reduce the transmission time to reduce the risk of disturbance and reduce the cost of the operation.

 Another important element in the difficulty of transmitting images of excellent quality is the heterogeneity of the machines; this situation is often all the more accentuated if the companies participating in the exchanges are located in different countries or use different and sometimes incompatible operating systems.

 Finally, the software used in the machines is very varied. In software of the same brand, the appearance of the image can be modified according to the nationality of the user and the files are not fully compatible, for example for the texts accompanying the drawings.

 In conclusion, even current means of remote transmission do not allow the transmission of an image of satisfactory quality for industrial objectives.

 The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and proposes to develop a system for transmitting illustrated documents or models, allowing rapid transmission of information to the recipient and then from the latter to the operator or the designer, despite differences in the machines or software used by the participants in this exchange of information.

 The system comprises a first subsystem SS1, that of the designer who prepares the illustrated document or model and a second subsystem SS2i, that of a beneficiary. As there can be several beneficiaries, schematically only one of them is presented in the drawing but under the reference SS2i.

 Finally, the system includes an SS3 operator subsystem to which the beneficiary sends his comments on the illustrated document he has examined, to have it modified and to carry out technical and economic evaluations (quotes, etc.).

 The designer subsystem SS1 comprises design means 1 used to design the illus trated document or model. It is, for example, a graphics station comprising a graphics computer, a display screen, a printer, a mouse, a graphics table for ordering software and generating a computer image.

These design means 1 can also use the images of a computer network to establish a model.

 The information is transmitted to the memory 2 which also contains downloadable software 4. The subsystem SS1 also comprises transmission means 3, namely in order, compression software 31 which compresses the flow of information received from memory 2 to transmit it to encryption software 32 which codes the information and transmits the encrypted information to a transmission software 34. The decryption means can comprise a system for splitting the encrypted message so that as long as the file fractions are not combined, the encrypted file is indecipherable, each file fraction appearing as a separate file. The transmission software sends the data over a public network R, for example a telephone network. The model information and the downloadable software are sent to an SS2i recipient.

 The subsystem SS2i of the recipient or beneficiary comprises reception means 6 connected to the network R.

These reception means consist of reception software 61, decryption software 52 and decompression software 53. The reception software allows information to be received by the network R. The information is decrypted by the decryption software 52 which can only operate when all the file fractions are combined and decompressed by the software 53.

 The reception means 5 transmit the decompressed information comprising the file of the model and the reading software to the memory 61 of the computer 6 of the subsystem SS2i.

 The beneficiary or recipient uses the SS2i subsystem to examine the proposed model on the display screen or in the form of printed documents.  The operator can intervene on the document since he has a program allowing him to do so. Then the document thus worked is transmitted to the subsystem SS1 in the memory thereof. The document can also be transmitted back to the recipient.

This return path is made by transmission means. This return transmission is represented by a dotted arrow connecting the memory 12 to the memory 2, the new transmission being made by the subsystem SS1, by its transmission means 3.

 The free downloadable software used for implementing the invention can be in PDF format by ADOBE ACROBAT. As compression software you can use the ACROBAT DISTILLER software which compresses files to the POSTCRIPT standard. This standard corresponds to the most common format in the graphics industries. The compression can be done in a more or less extensive manner depending on the volume of information to be transmitted.
