Abstract

The box-shaped packaging according to the invention consists of a belt of four side walls (1, 2, 3, 4), two of said opposing walls (2, 4) being provided with first closure flaps ( 17, 18) and the other two side walls (1, 3) being provided with second closure flaps (12, 13). These second flaps (12, 13) overlap on said first flaps (17, 18); they are contiguous or practically contiguous and tear-off adhesive strips (32) are positioned on their joining zone to ensure the closure of the packaging. According to the invention, one of the side walls (2) which carries the first flaps closure (17) comprises an opening means in the form of a tear-off structure (24) disposed over its entire length or width as appropriate, between said first flaps (17); on the other hand, the flaps (17) associated with this wall (2) comprise, over their entire height, an opening means located in the extension of said tear-off structure (24), consisting of a cutting line (28), a cutout and / or an extension element of said tear-off structure. These features make it possible to ensure the automatic opening and flattening of the box after removal of the tear-off structure (24) and the adhesive strips (32).

  EASY OPENING AND RECOVERING BOX

  The present invention relates to the field of packaging; it relates more particularly to a cardboard box or similar material, consisting of a belt of four side walls extended by flaps

closing.

  Crates of this kind, commonly known as American crates, can be factory pre-assembled to form the side wall belt

  they are then delivered flat to the customer.

  After having put the packaging into volume, one of the ends is closed, for example by means of an adhesive strip positioned on the joint of the outer flaps, or else by stapling or gluing. The other end is closed from the

  same way, after packaging the products.

  To open the box, we often use cutting or cutting tools, such as scissors or cutters, which involve the risk of injury.

  or which may damage the packaged products.

  On the other hand, the complete overhaul of the packaging is not always very

easy to get.

  The present invention aims to remedy these various drawbacks by proposing a body structure whose opening and flattening

  are carried out without any difficulty and without special tools.

  This packaging is of the type comprising a belt of four side walls, two of said opposing walls being provided with first closure flaps at their ends, and the other two walls being provided with second closure flaps. These second flaps cover the first flaps; they are contiguous or practically contiguous and tear-off adhesive strips are positioned on their joint zone to ensure

closing the packaging.

  In this way, the removal of the adhesive strips and of the removable structure

  ensures the opening and automatic flattening of the cash register.

  Still according to the invention, and in order to facilitate the opening and flattening operation, the packaging includes at least one means for gripping the detachable structure, in the form of a cutout or pre-cut area, arranged

  on the removable structure, or on the edge thereof.

  According to another particularity, one of the ends of the adhesive closure strips sticks against the side wall provided with the removable structure, on said removable structure. This makes it possible to remove said adhesive strips in continuity with the operation of removing the removable structure. The tear-off structure can be a precut strip or an attached tear strip. In certain embodiments these strips extend over the height of the adjoining closure flaps; in other embodiments, these flaps have cutting lines or else

  cutouts arranged in the extension of the removable structure.

  The invention will be further illustrated, without being in any way limited, by the

  following description in association with the accompanying drawings, in which:

  - Figure 1 is a flat view of the corrugated cardboard blank for obtaining a packing case according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a view of the partially mounted package obtained from the blank of Figure 1; - Figure 3 shows the packaging of Figure 2 closed by means of adhesive strips, after packaging of the products; - Figure 4 shows the operation of opening the packaging; Figure 5 is a view of the packaging of Figures 3 and 4 after opening and flattening; - Figures 6 to 10 illustrate, in the form of flat blanks, variants of

  realization of the packing case in accordance with the invention.

  Once set in volume, the corrugated cardboard blank illustrated in Figure 1

  allows obtaining the packing case shown in Figures 2 and 3.

  This cardboard blank comprises a cardboard strip forming four side walls 1, 2, 3 and 4 connected by the fold lines 5, 6 and 7. On its end edge, the wall 4 has a securing tab 8 connected by the fold line 9. This tab 8 extends over the entire length of the wall 4 and it is noted that it has small tabs 10 which extend its

two ends.

  The side walls 1, 2, 3 and 4 have a generally rectangular shape; the walls 1 and 3, on the one hand, and the walls 2 and 4, on the other hand, have identical dimensions to form a rectangular box. The four walls 1, 2, 3 and 4 have the same height and the walls 1, 3 have a little width

  greater than that of walls 2, 4.

  The side walls 1 and 3 are extended at their ends by flaps, respectively 12 and 13, connected by the fold lines 14 and 15. These flaps 12 and 13 occupy the entire width of the walls 1 and 3; their

  height corresponds substantially to half the width of walls 2 and 4.

  The side walls 2 and 4 are extended at their ends by flaps, 17 and 18 respectively, connected by the fold lines 19 and 20; these flaps 17 and 18 occupy the entire width of the walls 2 and 4; their height is slightly less than half the width of walls 1 and 3. The

  flaps 12, 13, 17 and 18 have an identical height.

  On the blank of Figure 1, we note the grooves 22 of the carton

  wavy, oriented lengthwise along the side walls.

  The side wall 2 has a pre-cut strip 24 arranged in its middle part and over its entire length, between the end fold lines 19. This pre-cut strip 24 consists of two juxtaposed portions 24 'and 24 "which each extend from the central area of the

  wall 2 to one of the fold lines 19.

  The width of each portion of strip 24 'and 24 "increases slightly from the central part to the fold lines 19; at their level of

  meeting, we note the presence of a precut patch 26.

  The assembly of the box is carried out by joining the external face of the tab 8 by gluing with the internal face of the wall 1; a belt is obtained with four side walls 1, 2, 3, 4 provided with flaps 12, 13, 17 and 18 allowing the ends to be closed. During the same operation, the small tabs 10 which extend the tab 8 are secured to the flaps 12

to optimize resistance.

  This operation can be carried out at the customer or in the factory. In the case of factory assembly, we get a pre-assembled, flat box, which can be delivered

as is to the client.

  On the packaging site, the pre-assembled box is set in volume (Figure 2) and one of its ends is closed by positioning the flaps 17 and 18 perpendicular to their adjoining side faces 2 and 4, by folding down the flaps 12 and 13 which extend the walls 1 and 3 and maintaining the assembly by means of an adhesive strip 32. This adhesive strip 32 is positioned on the joining edge of the flaps 12 and 13; it extends over the ends of the side walls opposite 2, 4, in particular so that one of its

  extensions come to be placed on the end of the precut strip 24.

  After conditioning the products in the packaging, the other end is closed in an identical manner to obtain the box illustrated in FIG. 3. The presence of the T-cut lines 28 makes it possible to create an opening line in the flaps 17 while preserving as much as possible the integrity of

  these, in order to limit the decrease in resistance of the body.

  The opening of the packaging is carried out by punching the precut patch 26 to form an opening constituting a means of gripping the portions of precut strips 24 ′ and 24 ". As illustrated in FIG. 4, it is then sufficient to tear off these portions of pre-cut strips 24 'and 24 ", then tear off in the same movement the adhesive strips 32

  to obtain an automatic reset of the body.

  The fact that the sections of adhesive strips project slightly over the side walls 2 and 4 makes it possible to obtain good closure of the packaging and also to facilitate the operation of opening and resetting the box; indeed, the removal of the adhesive strips 32 is carried out in the continuity of the removal of the portions of strips 24 ′ and 24 ", without requiring intervention

  The cardboard blank laid flat after opening is shown in FIG. 5. This complete flattening is obtained very quickly and very easily,

  Figures 6 to 10 show flat cardboard blanks that allow

  On the cardboard blank illustrated in FIG. 6, the flaps 17 have a cutout 34 over their entire height, in place of the Tee cut line 28. On the fold line 19, this cutout 34 has a width which corresponds to

  the width of the ends of the portions of pre-cut strips 24 'and 24 ".

  FIG. 7 illustrates a derivative embodiment in which the flaps 17 comprise a small pre-cut portion 35, in the extension of the strip 24, followed by a cut 36. The pre-cut portions 35 extend over the entire width of the strip pre-cut 24; they are adjacent to them so as to be torn off with the portions of strips 24 ′ and 24 "during

  The presence of the precut portions 35 makes it possible to reinforce the structure

  The embodiment of FIG. 8 comprises a precut strip 38 with a structure slightly different from that illustrated in the previous embodiments.   to the adhesive strips and tearing off the central part 39.

  We note here the presence of T-28 cutting lines arranged in

the flaps 17.

  The embodiment illustrated in FIG. 9 comprises a precut strip 42 which extends over the entire length of the side wall 2, associated with precut extension elements 43 which extend over the entire height of the flaps 17. The elements extension 43 are attached

to the precut strip 42.

  The central part of the wall 2 is equipped with a precut patch 44 from which extend the strip portions 42 ′ and 42 "followed by the extension elements 43. From the patch 44 serving as a gripping means, the width of the pre-cut portions 42 '/ 43 and 42 "/ 43 decreases

- CLAIMS -   1.- Cardboard packaging or similar material in the form of a box consisting of a belt of four side walls (1, 2, 3, 4), two of said opposing walls (2, 4) being provided with first closing flaps ( 17, 18) at their ends and the two other opposing side walls (1, 3) being provided with second closing flaps (12, 13) at their ends, which second flaps (12, 13) are contiguous or practically contiguous and overlap on said first flaps (17, 18), said packaging also comprising closure means consisting of tear-off adhesive strips (32) positioned on the joining areas of said second flaps (12, 13), characterized in that the one of the side walls (2) which carries the first closure flaps (17) has an opening means in the form of a tear-away structure (24, 38, 42, 46) disposed over its entire length or width as the case may be, between said first flaps (17), and in that e said first flaps (17) comprise over their entire height an opening means located in the extension of said tearing structure (24, 38, 42, 46), consisting of a cutting line (28), a cutout (34, 36) and / or an extension element (35, 43, 47) of said tearing structure (24, 42, 48), so as to ensure the opening and automatic resetting of the body after removal of said detachable structure (24, 38, 42, 46) and said bands adhesives (32).   2.- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises at least one gripping means (26, 40, 44, 50) of the removable structure (24, 38, 42, 46), in the form of a cutout or pre-cut area, arranged on   said removable structure or at the edge thereof.   3.- Packaging according to any one of claims 1 or 2,   characterized in that one of the ends of the adhesive closure strips (32) sticks against the side wall (2) provided with the removable structure (24, 38, 42, 46), on the removable structure (24, 38 , 42, 46), to allow the removal of said strips (32) during the removal operation of said removable structure.
