Abstract

Paint colorant is supplied through an orifice (1) to a reservoir which contains a tube pierced with a large number of holes. Compressed air is delivered (4) to the reservoir and forces colorant through a pipe (6) towards a paint receptacle (14). A balance and circuit (13,16) weigh the added colorant and control the supply via a valve (5)

Description

-1- The present invention relates to a device for metering in

  automatic, of any type of liquid product, in particular dyes

  intended for the coloring of paints.

  Traditionally the dosage of these dyes is carried out by a system using positive displacement pumps, actuated by motors

  step by step, managed by a computer.

  The dye in a tank, also called a canister, is sucked up by the pump and

  spilled into the container below.

  Gathered inside a body, these tanks, variable in number and capacity,

together form a machine.

  In these systems it is necessary to have a stirring of the dye, in case it

  would tend to sediment or separate.

  There is a risk of pump imbalance, with a need for recalibration, as well as intrinsic safety problems linked to

  using a desktop type PC.

  According to the attached documents, the devices of the invention make it possible to remedy these drawbacks.

  The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.

  Figure 1 shows the tank, in which

  the dye is poured through the upper orifice (1).

  Compressed air is sent inside (4), pushing the product down removing

using a pump.

  A tube (ll) pierced with holes (12) like a flute, regulates the output of the product by creating a suction over the entire height, avoiding a

agitation of the product.

  Passing through a solenoid valve (5), the dye is poured into the container (14 figure2) by

of the desired weight to be achieved.

  The formulas are managed by a man machine interface (HMI) controlled by touch screen terminal,

  eliminating the use of a computer.

  Concerning intrinsic safety, the voltage being 24V DC, the system is thus more reliable. Compared to current volumetric systems, the advantages are the following: - no moving parts (pumps etc ...) and therefore less sources of breakdowns - absence of computer - greater precision - increased security

- no agitation of the product.

Claims (2)

  1) Device for dosing fluids, more particularly dyes for coloring paints, characterized in that it consists of a reservoir which comprises: an orifice (1) situated at its upper end by which is admitted a metering fluid -a tube (11) housed inside the tank, pierced with holes (12) -a supply (4) of compressed air located on the external wall of the tank, at a level below the orifice (1), creating a suction of the liquid over the entire length of the tube -a solenoid valve (5) connected to the tube externally at the bottom of the tank receiving the liquid sucked in and delivering the desired quantity of liquid to a container (14) at the by means of a tube (6) 2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the container (14) is arranged on a   balance (13) connected to an automaton (16) controlling the opening and closing of the solenoid valve (5) as a function of the mass of liquid to be reached.
