Abstract

The assembly bush (5) for two half flanges is made up of two complementary parts (6,7) made from plastics, one a female ring (6) and the other a male ring (7) introduced from one side and the other of holes placed at the ends of complementary pivotable half flanges. The rings engage axially one inside the other and contain a recess (10) in one and a complementary projection (9) in the other (7) which couple and lock the two rings together.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for assembling two

half-

  adjustable flanges making together an adjustable flange.

  Currently, to assemble end to end two fittings, for example of

  two pipes, adjustable flanges are used.

  Each adjustable flange is in the form of two half flanges

  adjustable assembled by means of two steel crimping rings.

  Each crimping ring is placed in superimposed holes of the half

  orientable flanges then the straight edge of each end of said ring is stamped using hydraulic pliers to crimp it against the wall of the half flanges

  One of the disadvantages of these steel rings is that they are expensive.

  In addition, they do not resist corrosion, which is inconvenient in use for submerged installations where the environment must not be polluted, by

  example in installations such as water towers.

  Finally, the crimping of the steel rings requires the use of an expensive hydraulic clamp, heavy and difficult to maneuver and which also requires a

regular maintenance.

  The object of the invention is to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art such

  According to the invention, this result is obtained with a device for assembling two orientable half-flanges which together make an orientable flange, characterized in that it consists of two complementary plastic parts, namely a female ring and a male ring intended to be introduced on either side into superimposed holes of the ends of complementary shape of two orientable half-flanges, said rings fitting axially one inside the other and comprising complementary means

  coupling and joining.

  According to one embodiment, the complementary coupling and securing means consist of a bead on the outer wall of the male ring intended to be positioned in a groove of complementary shape produced at the interior wall of the female ring when said rings are fitted into one another. According to another embodiment, the complementary coupling and securing means consist of a bead on the inner wall of the female ring intended to be positioned in a groove of complementary shape produced at the outer wall of the male ring when

  said rings are nested one inside the other.

  An orientable flange (1) (see FIG. 2) is of generally annular shape and is made up in a known manner of orientable half-flanges (2,3) whose ends

  of complementary form collaborate between them.

  The ends (2a, 2b) of an orientable half-flange further include a hole (4) intended to be opposite the hole (4) of the adjacent ends (3b or 3a) of the other orientable half-flange when those -are working together to achieve the

  The assembly device (5) according to the invention of two orientable half-flanges (2,3) is in the form of a female ring (6) (see FIG. 4) and a male ring (7 ) (see Figure 5) made of plastic and intended to be introduced respectively on either side of the orientable flange into the holes (4) when these are superimposed (see Figure 2) and to fit axially l '' in one another (see Figure 6) for example using a simple mechanical clamp (8)

as shown in Figure 7.

  Advantageously, the rings (6,7) comprise an external flange (I 1) constituting a support zone for the front ends (12) of the branches of the mechanical clamp (8) used for the interlocking of said rings

  The plastic rings are made by injection.

  The advantages and the performances of the invention are numerous and in particular: - low cost of the rings and the manual clamp compared to the rings and the hydraulic clamps conventionally used, - ease of assembly, - resistance of the rings to the conditions of handling and for transporting fittings. - possibility of using a food plastic in the case of installation

  Submerged o the environment must not be polluted, for example a water tower.

An assembly device (5) of two orientable half-flanges (2,3) which together produce an orientable flange (1), characterized in that it consists of two complementary parts (6,7) made of plastic, namely a female ring (6) and a male ring (7) intended to be introduced on either side into superimposed holes (4) of the ends (2a, 3b) or (2b, 3a) of complementary shape of two half - orientable flanges (2,3), said rings (6,7) fitting axially one into the other and comprising complementary means of coupling and solidarity (9,10).   2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the complementary coupling and joining means consist of a bead (9) on the outer wall of the male ring (7) intended to be positioned in a groove (10) of complementary shape made at the inner wall of the   female ring (6) when said rings are nested one inside the other.   3. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the complementary means 1 5 for coupling and securing consist of a bead on the inner wall of the female ring intended to be positioned in a groove of complementary shape produced at the outer wall of the male ring   when said rings are nested one inside the other.   4. Device according to any one of claims I to 3, characterized in that   that the rings (6,7) comprise an external flange (I l) constituting an enlarged support zone for the front ends (12) of the branches of a clamp   mechanical used for fitting said rings (6,7).   5. Device according to any one of claims I to 4, characterized in that   that the plastic rings are made by injection.
