Abstract
Description
TELEPHONIOUES ACCORDING TO RATE OFFER, AND RE
AUTOMATED DIALING ACCORDING TO THE SELECTED NETWORK
The subject of the present invention is a telephone apparatus capable of modifying a calling telephone number to direct the connection request to a determined operator which is chosen according to a price list.
The invention also relates to a method of modifying the telephone numbering making it possible to optimize the choice of operator / network.
More specifically, the invention provides an electronic device connected to telephone networks on the one hand and to one or more telephone sets on the other hand and capable of adding to or modifying the dialing dialed by the caller according to certain criteria . These criteria can for example be economic. Indeed, telephone operators offer variable rates depending on the day and time of the call, its destination, its duration. Some also offer packages, for example monthly or decreasing rates depending on the number or duration of communications. An individual or a company, subscribed to several operators, will therefore have an interest in directing this or that call to one operator or another depending on the time of the call, its destination or any other criterion that may affect pricing. Generally this optimization is manual in the sense that the caller must choose the operator himself. Within a company, this operation depends entirely on the motivation of the employee to minimize his costs, and on the organization put in place: he must, before each call, refer to the detailed information concerning these tariff conditions of the different networks that the administration of his company must communicate to him. This last condition is all the more difficult to fulfill since, due to the competition faced by operators, prices are constantly changing. Ultimately. it will therefore be up to each employee to choose the telephone operator wisely. There are still electronic boxes which add to the call number the codes necessary for the call to be directed to a given network for a given destination of the call. For example, a subscriber can be registered with France Telecom, which he prefers to use for national communications and Spnnt for those abroad. When the box recognizes the code 00, which represents a call abroad, it will automatically connect to Sprint. However, these boxes do not optimize the choice of network according to the price lists, and can in no case take account of price changes.
The invention makes it possible to solve the new technical problem of the automatic choice of operator or network to be used as a function of all the elements (destination, schedule, packages or decreasing prices, etc.) of the updated price lists.
According to a first aspect, the invention relates to an electronic unit, connected to the telephone networks on the one hand and to one or more telephone sets on the other hand.
According to a second aspect, the electronic unit includes a time counter which, connected to the price list, makes it possible to calculate the cost of the communication.
According to a third aspect, the electronic unit comprises a interrogation function of a central computer / server, which makes it possible to periodically update by downloading the tariff grids in force of the various networks offered.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description of embodiments of the invention, given by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings which show: - Figure I a representation of a telephone installation without a dialer; - Figure 2 a representation of a telephone installation comprising a
numberer; - Figure 3 a schematic representation of the numberer according to the prior art, - Figure 4 a schematic representation of the numberer according to a first aspect of
the invention; - Figure 5 a schematic representation of the numberer according to a second aspect of
the invention, - Figure 6 a scheniatic representation of the numberer according to a third aspect of
the invention,
In relation to Figure I, the telephone installation does not include a dialer and the choice of network directly reflects the numbers typed by the caller.
According to FIG. 2, a dialer I is interposed between the enterprise standard S and the external telephone network R
The numberer of the type of cell known by the prior art is represented in FIG. 3. The incoming call is analyzed by an electronic recognition circuit
Destination Requested referenced 2 which recognizes the region of destination by decoding the incoming number. Depending on this destination, circuit 7 makes a selection of the network on which the call is to be directed. Then circuit 8 detects a numbering using the selected network access code. Naturally, circuits 2 and 8 are capable of passing the voices, once communication has been established, as shown by the arrow in thick lines in FIGS. 3 to 6.
In Figure 4 the invention is shown schematically according to a first aspect. The incoming call is also analyzed by an electronic Destination Recognition circuit
Request referenced 2 which decodes the destination region according to the incoming number. By convention, the most used network code and prefix system in the area concerned will be called normal numbering (in France, presumably, France Telecom's numbering system), so that the system is used perfectly transparent. Recognition of the destination of the call is generally carried out by analyzing the code or prefix of the normal numbering system. For example a number starting with 00 31
is intended for the Netherlands. Clock 3 can be a simple electronic clock, making it possible to know the timetable for the call for correspondence in the tariff grids. Depending on the time and destination of the call (receipts from 2 and 3), and the tariff grids in memory 4, the Tariff Comparison Calculator 5 compares the tariffs of the available networks. As a function of this comparison, the circuit 7b makes a selection of the network on which the call is to be directed. Then the automatic numbering circuit 8 automatically redials the call number using the access access codes and prefixes of the selected network.
FIG. 5 presents a variant of the invention in which the information contained in the tariff table 4 is periodically refreshed. For this, the memory 4 comprising the price table is connected to. a server 12 via an electronic circuit 13, for example a modem.
In a preferred variant of the invention, the server 12 is remote from the telephone installation and is therefore consulted via the telephone network. In this case, it is advantageous to make the connection with the server using the already existing connection of the box to the network R, as shown in FIG. 6.
The circuits 13 and 4 can be grouped into a central computer, which can be installed by the service provider company, which installs or rents the dialer l.
It includes the detailed price list (depending on the localities of origin, destinations and timetables) of all the networks available from the country concerned.
These grids are updated daily, according to the information received from these networks.
The server can be interrogated at any time by subscribers, it includes recognition of the origin of the call, allowing it to recognize the subscriber who calls it, and therefore to check the validity of the confidential code as it must enter from his telephone or switchboard.
Once this has been done, the computer-server automatically downloads the latest price lists for the networks to which the subscriber has declared to be subscribed (and which are therefore also stored) in the memory of the user 4
FIG. 6 also presents a variant of the invention in which the dialer can calculate and display the cost of the communication.
The computer 9 detects the end of the communication, and, according to the clock 3 and the information contained in the memory 4, calculates:
the duration of the call,
the actual cost of communication on the selected network
the cost that this same communication would have represented, on each of the networks not selected.
This information is stored in a memory 10 and can be transmitted to the user by a circuit 11. This can be a simple display, or even a communication circuit with the caller's telephone, by means of the link shown. by a dotted line in Figure 6. In this case, the report of the communication can be in voice form, the circuit 1 1 being able to perform a voice synthesis. With certain telephones which have a digital link and a display, circuit 11 can transmit the report by this channel. Likewise, this method allows interrogation by the user of the memory 10.
la consommation détaillée par appel;
memoire.The information concerning the last communication is added to that of the previous communications. The memory is organized so that, at any time, the user can request:
detailed consumption per call;
The total amount of consumption since the last reset of the
memory.
Ia repartition de cette consommation selon les réseaux, selon les horaires;
visualiser rapidement la rentabilite de l'optimisateur.The distribution of this consumption according to the networks, according to the schedules;
The theoretical calculated amount of the total consumption, if this had been
done entirely on each of the available networks, which will allow it to
quickly visualize the profitability of the optimizer.
In its preset application mode, the invention proposes an automatic numberer comprising
a circuit for detecting the destination of the incoming call
a clock
a dialing circuit to the telephone network
a memory compiling tariff information on networks
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the examples and embodiments described and shown, but it is susceptible of numerous variants accessible to those skilled in the art. One could thus use a personal computer, provided with modems for perform the tasks of memorizing the rate tables, calculating the short of the communication and even interrogating the server. The incoming communication could then be received by a second server, also connected to the computer.
It is also clear that the invention is not limited to the preferred embodiment.
