Abstract

The joint, designed for one side of a pivoted supporting rack on a clothes drier made from two folding rectangular frames with the racks fitted between them so they can pivot between horizontal and vertical positions, consists of a sleeve (16) fixed to a vertical section (12) of a tubular frame member. A bush (17) is fitted horizontally to the sleeve and has slots (18,19) in its sides to receive the hooked ends (14) of one or two racks (13). Each slot is partially covered by a semi-cylindrical surface (20, 21) which keeps the hooks in position. The bush is fitted with a metal reinforcing peg (24) inserted through it from the sleeve. The peg has a domed head (26) on one end and a self-centering conical tip (27) on the other. The joint is quick and easy to deploy and fold, requiring no technical knowledge.
