Abstract

The storage drum for a spiral coiled wire comprises two support plates (1,2) lying parallel to each other at a fixed distance apart, and guide elements (3,4) mounted between the two plates. Each of the guide elements may be a roller which is free to rotate on a spindle which lies perpendicular to the support plates and which may be attached to these plates. The spiral coiled wire is passed around these two rollers, with one ends passing through a central hole in the first support plate (1), and the other end passing through a hole (6) in the corner of the second support plate. The extension of the spiral coiled wire when under tension may be between 0 and 50 % of the retracted length of the coil.
