Description
NEW THIOLS CONTAINING ONE OR MORE AMINO GROUPS AND
THEIR MANUFACTURING PROCESS
The present invention relates to novel monoor polythiols containing at least one amino group, as well as to a process for their preparation. New thiols are compounds which contain an amide group or an imidazoline group in the molecule and exhibit high reactivity.
Chem. Soc., Vol. 269, page 2672, 1947), par exemple.Various thiol-type compounds are known at the present time. In particular, thiols containing one or more amino groups have long been sought after and find utility in a wide range of applications because of their unique qualities. For example, cysteamine, a compound which has the simplest structure of all thiols containing an amino group, is useful as an intermediate for drugs and as a hair treatment agent, giving permanent waviness to hair. N-alkylated compounds, i.e. thiols containing an amino group, which have an alkyl group, have been found useful in the field of printing (as described in JP-A-06 127 168), as intermediates for medicaments. (as described in JP-A-48 44244), in the field of photography (as described in
US-A-3,221,013), and in the field of rubber (as reported in J. Am. Chem. Soc., Vol. 269, page 2672, 1947), for example.
Therefore, great utility can be expected for these new thiols containing at least one amino group and additionally containing an amide group or an imidazoline group.
The present invention therefore aims to provide such new thiols which are expected to be useful in various applications, for example in the field of photography, the field of rubbers, as intermediates for the synthesis of drugs for example, this by reason of 'high reactivity of these thiols.
The new mono- or polythiols containing at least one amino group according to the invention are characterized in that they are represented by formula (I)
in which - R11 R2, R3 and R4 each independently represent a
hydrogen atom, a C1-C10 alkyl group or a
aromatic residue, the residues R1 and R3 (or R2 and R4)
can be linked together to form a cycle
hydrocarbon with the two carbon atoms that
bear R5 represents an alkyl or alkenyl residue, linear or
branched - A represents a group (II)
linked to R5 by -CO or a group (III)
linked to R5 by carbon x and y, identical or different, each represent 0 or an integer from 1 to 10, with the proviso that 1 <x + y <10 m, n, o and p each represent an average number of -CR1R2-CR3R4-S- sequences, said mean number possibly being zero and said sequences possibly being identical or different, the "n" possibly being different if x is greater than 1 and the "p" possibly being
be different if y is greater than 1, and
"m + E n + o + E p" in the case where A is a
group (II) or "m + E n" in the case where A is a
group (III) being greater than O and possibly ranging
up to 30, being in particular between 0.5 and 10 and mixtures of such mono- or polythiols.
In particular R1, R2, R3 and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C8 alkyl group or a phenyl group, R1 and R3 (or R2 and R4) which can be linked together to form an alkylene chain.
R5 represents in particular an alkyl or alkenyl residue, linear or branched, C7-C29, preferably C7-C19. R5 can also represent the residue of a complex fatty acid amide, the resulting mono- or polythiol then being in the form of a mixture.
A subject of the present invention is also a process for the manufacture of a mono- or polythiol as defined above, characterized in that at least one compound of formula (IV) is reacted:
in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 are as defined above, on at least one compound of formula (V) or (VI)
in which R5, x and y are as above, and where appropriate, the product of formula (I) thus obtained is reacted, in which "m + n + o + LP" or "m + represents the number means of moles of compound (s) (IV) added, with still at least one compound of formula (IV), thus making it possible to increase the value of “m + Sn + o + or of“ m + con ”.
The invention also relates generally to the addition products of at least one compound of formula (IV) on at least one compound of formula (V) and / or at least one compound of formula (VI) , these compounds being as defined above. The invention also relates to an addition product of at least one compound of formula (IV) on a product of the condensation reaction by dehydration of a fatty acid with a polyamine with formation of amidoamine and partial cyclization of this. last in imidazoline.
The number of moles of compound (s) (IV) added to 1 mole of compound (V) or (VI) is at most equal to the number of moles of compound (s) (IV) introduced per mole of compound (V) or (VI) introduced.
In practice, if the number of moles of compound (s) (IV) added is less than 0.5, the product obtained risks not showing any advantageous characteristics. Conversely, if this number of moles is greater than 30, the thiol will contain too many sulphide bonds, which also risks damaging the desired properties.
It is also possible to carry out the addition of the compound (s) (IV) to a mixture of compound (V) and of compound (VI) consisting of a product of the condensation reaction by dehydration of a fatty acid with a polyamine with the formation of amidoamine and partial cyclization of the latter to imidazoline.
The process according to the invention is generally carried out in an organic solvent which is inert under the reaction conditions; however, the solvent may not be necessary. As concrete examples of the organic solvent which can be used, mention may be made of aromatic compounds, such as benzene, toluene and xylene, compounds of ether type, such as diethyl ether, ethyl isobutyl ether, tetrahydrofuran or dioxane. , alcohol-type compounds, such as methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, n-butanol, t-butanol, heptanol, 2-ethylhexanol and cyclohexanol, compounds of nitrile type, such as acetonitrile and benzonitrile, amide type compounds, such as
N, N-dimethylformamide and N-methylpyrrolidone, as well as dimethylsulfoxide.
The reaction is generally carried out at a temperature in the range of 10 to 200 ° C, preferably in the range of 50 to 120 ° C. If the reaction temperature is less than 10 ° C, the reaction rate will be excessively low. Conversely, if the reaction temperature exceeds 200 ° C, thiirane ring-openers and other by-products will form in an amount large enough to undesirably decrease the yield.
On the other hand, since the manufacturing process of the invention is based on a ring-opening addition reaction of a three-membered cyclic compound on an amino group, which is a liquid phase reaction capable of being easily controlled, the manufacture can be carried out without a complicated step.
The disposal of waste effluent is avoided because the reaction forms only few by-products and the formation of waste water having an unpleasant odor is also avoided. Thus, the process of the present invention allows the production of a thiol advantageously from the standpoint of cost and from the standpoint of environmental protection.
The following Examples illustrate the present invention without, however, limiting its scope. In these examples, the abbreviation SE was used to denote ethylene sulfide.
Example 1: Preparation of an SE adduct
on the formula amidoamine
In a four neck flask having an internal volume of 500 ml and equipped with a stirrer, thermometer and Dimroth condenser, 60.0 g of 2-aminoethyl dodecanamide (AEDAM) and 180 g of dioxane were placed and heated to 101 ° C, while being maintained in a nitrogen atmosphere. To the solution maintained at this temperature, 44.6 g of SE placed in a dropping funnel (AEDAM / SE molar ratio = 1 / 3.0) was added dropwise over 7 hours. After the dropwise addition was completed, the subsequent reaction was allowed to proceed at the same temperature for 1.5 hours. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was allowed to cool to room temperature and was filtered to remove a small amount of insoluble material (0.3 g). The filtrate was subjected to vacuum distillation to remove the solvent by evaporation to obtain 98.8 g of a light yellow waxy product (yield. 95%).
Le spectre d'absorption infrarouge est représenté sur la Figure 1.The product thus obtained was subjected to elemental analysis, infrared absorption analysis and NMR analysis. The results are presented in the
Table 1. By calculating on the basis of the increments, 6 2.5 - 2.8 ppm, of the peak obtained of the three hydrogen atoms of the terminal methyl group in the NMR analysis, the product was identified as a compound. having 2.7 moles on average of SE added per mole of AEDAM. The infrared absorption spectrum is shown in Figure 1.
