Abstract

The invention concerns a device for pre-adjusting the functioning duration and the extinguishing of slow-burning diffusers such as insect-repellent coils or joss sticks. The invention is characterised in that it consists of a fire resistant element (1) made of material that cannot be set aflame by the burning part (2) of the diffuser, which is contacted, by at least one of its surfaces with one of the surfaces of the burning part, downstream of its end and at a distance therefrom that determines the burning time.

OPERATING TIME ADJUSTMENT DEVICE AND
EXTINGUISHING DEVICE FOR SLOW COMBUSTION DIFFUSERS
Some diffusers of products into the atmosphere operate by slow combustion, the smoke resulting from combustion ensuring the desired diffusion.

 This is the case of household diffusers such as, for example, insecticide spirals or incense sticks.

 These devices are often made using agglomerated materials which burn slowly by diffusing an active product.

 The user of these diffusers cannot easily, in the current state of the art, control their operating time or switch them off.

 The extinction of the diffuser can currently be operated for example by breaking the combustible part or by pouring water on the burning zone.

 These methods are impractical and sometimes dangerous.

 Unless the quantity of combustible product corresponding to the desired burning time is anticipated in advance, it is not currently possible to regulate the operating time of the diffusers.

 The device according to the invention makes it possible to adjust the operating time of the diffusers and to ensure their extinction at the end of combustion.

 The invention constitutes an improvement in the conditions of use of slow combustion diffusers.

 The figures representing the invention show a slow combustion diffuser of the spiral type. This is just an example.

 The forms and the arrangements of the representations, in the figures, of the elements constituting the invention are purely indicative.

 Referring to Figures 1 and 2, the invention consists of the firebreak (E) intended to be placed on the fuel part 2 of the slow combustion diffuser.

 Is called difflise or slow combustion diffuser, the assembly consisting of the combustible part 2 and all the possible accessory elements such as support or others.

 The combustible part (i) designates the part of the diffuser whose slow combustion ensures the functioning of this device.

The active area of the diffuser is that of the fuel part 2 which is in the process of combustion, it is called the part in combustion
When the diffuser is operating, the burning part 4 e moves along the combustible part 2, gradually burning the latter.

 The fire barrier 1 has the characteristics of being movable and of being able to be placed on the combustible part Q, at any location thereof.

 The shape and construction of the fire stop 1 are such that when the latter is placed on the combustible part 2, the combustion of this part is impossible at the place where the fire stop is placed.

 The fire stop therefore stops the combustion of the combustible part Q at the place where it is placed.

 The fire stop, for example, make it impossible to burn the combustible part 2 by disrupting the arrival of air on the burning part 4, when the latter arrives in the vicinity of this fire stop.

 The fire stop, another example, makes it impossible to burn the combustible part 2 by reducing, passively or not, the temperature of the burning part 4, when the latter arrives near this fire stop.

 The combustible part 2 can be made of a homogeneous material, for example agglomerated or dried or hardened paste.

 The combustible part 2 can be made of heterogeneous material, for example reinforced with wood.

 The combustible part 2 can be formed in a spiral.

 The combustible part Q can be formed into a stick.

 The fire stop 1 may be made of a non-flammable material.

 The Q firebreak can be made of a metallic material.

 The fire stop Q can consist of a ring 6 or of another hollow element sliding along the combustible part (t enclosing the latter.

 FIG. 2 shows a part, enlarged with respect to FIG. 1, of the end of the fuel part 2.

 With reference to FIG. 2, the firebreak Q can carry a transport and handling device W and an active part 6.

 In this case, the transport and handling device 5 can allow the user to easily handle the firebreak 1, of which only the active part 6 contributes, when the time comes, to the extinction of the combustible part Q.

 With reference to FIG. 2, the fire stop Q may include an adhesive part W allowing it to be held on the combustible part 2.

 The firebreak 1 can be associated with other elements, for example accessories of the diffuser.

 The position of the firebreak 1 determines the operating time of the slow combustion diffuser.

 The extinction of the fuel part 2 does not take place until the part in combustion reaches the place where the firebreak is located.

 At a given instant, the longer the length of the combustible part located between the burning part (g and the fire stop 1, the longer the future operating time of the diffuser.

 A fairly precise knowledge of the length of the fuel part burned per unit of time makes it possible to relate the distance between the part in combustion (g) and the fire stop Q and the duration planned for the combustion.

 The combustible part 2 of the slow combustion diffuser may include marks 8.

 These marks can indicate to the user the interval traveled by the burning part (! ~) For one or more chosen time units.

 It may then suffice for the user to tie the fire stop 1 at a number of intervals of the burning part tcorresponding to the number of time units at the end of which the diffuser will stop operating.

 The invention thus allows easy adjustment of the operating time of the slow combustion diffusers.

When the user wants to turn off the diffuser without delay, he just needs to place the fire stop (g on the burning part
The operating time of the diffuser is then zero, the invention therefore allows the immediate extinction of slow combustion diffusers.

CLAIM 1:  Device for extinguishing and adjusting the operating time of slow combustion diffusers, characterized:  -Because it includes a firebreak and can be placed anywhere on the combustible part  -By this the firebreak i makes it impossible to burn the combustible part 2 at the place where it is placed;  -Because the choice of the position of the co, e-fire 1 allows the combustion time of the fuel part 2 to be adjusted. CLAIM 2:  Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the firebreak 1 makes it impossible to burn the burnable part c by disturbing the air supply to the burning part 4 when the latter arrives in the vicinity of the firebreak (5 ) CLAIM 3:  Device according to either of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the combustible part Gest consists of a homogeneous material. CLAIM 4:  Device according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the combustible part 2 consists of a heterogeneous material. CLAIM 8:  Device according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the fire stop consists of a hollow element sliding along the combustible part 2 and enclosing the latter. CLAIM 9:  Device according to one of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the fire breaker comprises a transport and handling device 5 and an active part 6.
