Abstract

The person is held in bed by a belt (2) that is fastened round the waist. This is adjustable in length and held by non-slip fasteners (3). A strap (4) slides in a casing, formed by the belt fixed to the upper part of the sheet (1). The bottom of the sheet is fitted over the foot of the mattress. The sheet only covers 3/4 of the bed and covers the pelvis and lower limbs of the person. The strap, fixed round the mattress, is made in reinforced textile material and is adjustable in length.

HYGIENIC AND FALL PROTECTION SHEET
The invention aims to simultaneously solve two major problems encountered by nursing staff in dealing with certain types of patients: maintaining their hygiene, and preventing falls.

 Nothing really exists in this area, except a system of metal barriers adaptable to the bed.

 These do not deal with the problem of hygiene and sometimes prove dangerous, because the bedridden person is often unconscious or agitated and can therefore get bogged down or banged on bars.

This invention is therefore intended to keep bedridden or sick people in their bed, and in good conditions, with no more notions of hygiene and danger. It can also, and in some cases be adapted to children.

 This device is composed, according to a first characteristic, of a sheet, fixed to the patient's waist by a belt, and of a strap which fixes the whole to the bed.

 Optimal hygiene is thus achieved, because between the plane of the bed where it is placed and the belt in place, it is impossible for him to slip his hands under the sheet, (the strap becoming integral with the plane of the bed from his size ). Thus, this restraint is particularly intended for people who are incontinent and half lucid, preventing them from discovering themselves or degrading the devices put in place diapers, urinary catheters, etc. This will avoid major hygienic damage, annoying for the patient, and generators of additional tasks for the nursing staff.

 Optimal security is also achieved, in the face of possible falls from the bed, while preserving the patient's mobility and comfort. Indeed, he can move freely while being only limited to the center of his bed. This belt does not prevent the different positions as needed, namely sitting or on the side.

 Finally, it is essential to emphasize that in this way the dignity of the patient is preserved, because he remains clean and covered.

According to particular embodiments:
- the sheet may be of the "fitted sheet" type on its lower part to facilitate its positioning at the foot of the bed.

 - The strap can be removable, and slipped into a sheath formed on the belt.

 - the strap fasteners on the side uprights of the bed, may consist of a part pre-installed on these uprights, and provided with a fastening / quick release system to the strap, of the automobile seat belt type or similar.

 - the strap can be fitted with a length adjustment system.

 With reference to these diagrams, this device comprises a sheet of flexible and washable textile (1), of identical quality to those used in the care units, but shorter in the direction of the length because having to stop 3/4 bed.

 Fixed around 50 cm at the top of the sheet, a belt (2), about 10 cm wide and 110 cm long (for an average size), in fabric identical to the sheet but slightly padded. Its two ends are intended to join in the back of the patient at waist level, and to be fixed between them. So that their assembly does not leave an embarrassing thickness in the back, they must simply be applied one on the other, the patient's weight coming to complete the effectiveness of non-slip fasteners or the like (3).

 A strap (4), made of reinforced textile or the like, fixed over the entire width of the sheet, at the top of the sheet and therefore superimposed on the belt, makes it possible to secure the device with the bed. For safety reasons and to facilitate interventions, a quick attachment / unhooking system must be used to link the strap with the side uprights of the bed.

 The sheet of sheet remaining on each side is called to be bordered normally under the mattress, but very flexibly. The patient must in no way be tightened in his bedding, he must remain free of all his movements.
