Abstract

A device for protecting users from the radiation generated by screens such as computer monitors and television sets is disclosed. The device comprises a double transparent filter consisting of two walls of different thicknesses, i.e. a clear convex rear wall and a thicker smoked front wall. The frame is made of sealing rubber with a U-shaped cross-section and twin internal grooves. The gap between the walls is filled with water and encloses a bare copper wire for earthing. The device may be placed against the uprights surrounding the screen of the apparatus in question, and is held in a position parallel to the screen by two rails fastened to the uprights. Said device is particularly suitable for users of apparatuses with screens, such as computer monitors, television sets, videotex terminals, video game consoles, etc.

The present invention relates to a protection device for screens of the computer monitor and television receiver type.

The users of these devices, especially those whose proximity to the screen is essential, undergo a permanent attack of radiation detrimental to their health.

This results in eye problems, increased fatigue and many nervous disorders.

The existing protective filters do not seem to provide a satisfactory solution.

The device according to the invention effectively protects users from these serious drawbacks.

 This device comprises a double filter composed of two walls made of transparent synthetic glass, of identical format to the format of the screen used.

The wall constituting the rear face is colorless, that constituting the front face is smoked.

The wall of the rear face is of a thickness (2, Smm) less than that of the wall of the front face (Smm).

The two walls are framed by a rubber profile "U" having in its inner base two parallel grooves 5mm deep and spaced 2.5mm.

The width of each groove corresponds to the thickness of the framed wall, ie 2.5mm and 5mm.

This constitutes a double waterproof filter comprising a vacuum between walls 2.5 mm deep.

This vacuum is completely filled with mineral water.

The filling is carried out using a syringe through a hole made in the middle of the rubber field, in the right corner, at the top of the device.

The weight of the water combined with the relative flexibility of the thinnest wall gives the double filter a convex shape on its rear face.

Through the hole used for filling is introduced a bare copper wire (diameter lmm) which plunges into water to the bottom of the double filter. Its non-submerged part is sheathed and ends with a clamp to be connected to an earth connection.

The device is positioned against the uprights surrounding the screen of the device used parallel to it. It is held by two rigid plastic rails fixed to the uprights of the device. The base of the rails is closed.

The double filter is slid inside the rails, thinner wall (convex) towards the screen and connected to an earth connection.

The device according to the invention is then operational.

The measures indicated are not limiting.

There are variants: - the material used for the walls can be mineral glass provided that the difference in thickness is large enough to allow the convexity of the rear wall under the weight of the water.

- the front wall can be colorless (for TV for example) - the water can be colored.

- The watertight seal between the walls can be constituted by an adequate adhesive, of sufficient thickness to form a vacuum. The framing is done by an aesthetic sticky tape.

The device according to the invention is particularly intended for users of screen devices such as computer monitors, minitels, video games, television receivers, etc.

Claims (7)

1) Protective device for screens of the computer monitor and television receiver type, characterized in that it comprises a double transparent filter, composed of two walls of different thicknesses, convex on the rear face, tightly framed by a rubber in "U" profile, with double internal grooves, comprising a void between walls, void filled with water into which a copper wire connected to the earth plunges. 2) Device according to claim 1 characterized by a double transparent filter formed by a rear wall made of colorless synthetic or mineral glass and a front wall made of smoked synthetic or mineral glass. 3) Device according to claims 1 and 2 characterized by the difference in thickness of the walls making up the double filter. The wall constituting the rear face is of a thickness less than that constituting the front face. 4) Device according to claims 1, 2 and 3 characterized by a sealed rubber frame of profile "U" whose inner base has two parallel grooves of the same width as the thickness of the framed walls, creating an interior vacuum. 5) Device according to claims 1, 2, 3 and 4 characterized by filling "the void between walls with mineral water.
