Abstract

The firelighter is made from a strip (5) of a pre-cut and scored material, such as corrugated cardboard, compressed paper or wood veneer, which can be folded into an accordion shape so that it may support the fuel as it starts to burn and promote a draught. The fold lines are shaped, e.g., so that they form tongues (3) and holes (4) to let air through. The strip can be made from a combination of wood veneer and paper which are glued together, and it can be given a coating during manufacture. A number of strips can be made together in a single sheet for ease of manufacture and distribution.

Description

 The present invention relates to a device for lighting a barbecue, fireplace or fire.

 Various devices are known for lighting a barbecue or a chimney in the form of a small volume based on mixed cellulose or the like.

 The present invention aims to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art and is characterized in that the combustion surface is significantly greater and avoids the smothering of the fire when laying wood or charcoal.

 The object of the invention is an economical and safe product allowing the ignition of a fire, from a plate of pre-folded combustible material (5,8) to allow an accordion folding which will support the fuel of the user the time of firing and favor the draw.

 According to an essential variant of the invention The pre-folding lines consist of a succession of creases (5,6) and cutouts (3,4) to allow during the folding in accordion the formation of the tongues (3) for setting fire and / or perforations (4,9) on the tops to favor the drawing.

 Preferably, the invention uses a double-corrugated cardboard of BE type, it is the superposition of a small groove of approximately 3 mm and a micro-groove of approximately 1.6 mm. The use of corrugated cardboard allows combustion between the layers of paper.

 The grammage of the papers is important to regulate the combustion time that we want to obtain: for slow combustion we will use high grammages of paper, up to 400g or even more.

 Preferably we will use cardboard based on 100% recycled paper and the direction of the groove (2) must be directed towards the slots allowing the movement of the flames upwards and a better draft.

 Preferably, at least one of the slots on each crease serves as a snap to prevent the plate from unfolding under the load of the fuel.

 The positioning of the pre-folded plate on the hearth allows to raise the fire (fiv. 3) and thus create a ventilation (7) to avoid suffocation.

 According to another variant, provision may be made, without limitation, for additional cutouts and / or perforations on each folded element in order to favor the drawing and / or firing.

 According to the preferred embodiments of the invention, but not limiting, shown in the figures, the invention consists of a fire starter from corrugated cardboard or flat cardboard or unrolled wood or any other material.

 The low cost of the fire starter according to the invention and one of the main advantages, the other advantages being described below.

 The production of this invention does not require high investment. The implementation is very simple.

 Preferably, several fire starters are grouped together on the same plate (fig. 4) having folded and precut lines (10,11) perpendicular to the lines (5,8) of each fire starter so as to facilitate the manufacturing and presentation (fig. 6) at the point of sale. The last fire starters (16,17) have additional folds (18) to package the assembly and are used to form the sales unit (fig. 6). Tabs (13) located at the end of the last element allow locking.

 The invention is also an excellent advertising medium (15) with the possibility of printing preferably in flexography.

 The user must unhook an element from the assembly, fold the fire starter along the grooves, light the lower tabs (3), position it in the hearth and place the charcoal, small wood or other combustible product on fire.

 The risk of burns is largely limited by the distance between the hand and the firing tabs.

 According to other variants, it is possible to provide: a cutting of the plate (1) or any other system facilitating the linear layout, a locking system to keep the fire starter in volume, a knock-out enabling the latching of the l 'set (12,14), and not limited to all forms of cuts.

 According to another variant, provision may be made for coating the cardboard internally or externally of the wax or other type in order to increase the ignition time.

 According to yet another variant and without limitation, provision can be made for the superimposition of different materials such as a sheet of unrolled wood laminated on cardboard.

Claims (7)
