Abstract

The binding has a clamp (21) that pivots on a body (20), round a transversal axle (22), between closed (P1) and open positions. It is moved by a piston (24) that is moved by a coil spring (25). The spring is on a ramp (26) inside the clamp and rests against a support (28). The piston slides in a central hollow (27) in the body and the body moves with respect to the support. The clamp is locked in its closed position by a pivoting clip (29) engaging in a notched cam. Stops limit the rotation of the clamp and the movement of the piston.

IMPROVEMENT FOR A RETAINING DEVICE
SNOW BOARD FOOTWEAR
The invention relates to a device for retaining a boot to a gliding board such as a ski or the like, for example, a monoski, snowboard and the like. Such a device being generally called in the field of skiing "ski binding".

 The binding of the invention is intended to retain a boot on a ski and is more particularly suitable for retaining a boot on a gliding board of the type called "surs. Of course, the binding of the invention can be used for any type of use as, for example, to retain a shoe on a traditional ski or to retain a shoe on a plate itself retained in a triggerable manner on a ski of the alpine type or a monoski.

 Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows with reference to the appended drawings which are given only by way of nonlimiting examples.

 Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a possible use of the retaining device according to the invention.

 Figure 1 is a top view of a surfboard equipped with the device according to the invention.

 Figure 2 is a side view.

 Figures 3 and 4 are views in longitudinal section illustrating more particularly the retaining device of the invention.

 Figure 3 is a view showing the device in its retaining position.

 Figure 4 is a view showing the device in its release position also corresponding to that of the opening ready to be raised.

 We will describe, for example, a binding used to connect a shoe to a board as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. The snowboard (1) comprises a central part (2) extended at the front by a spatula ( 3) and at the rear by a heel (4), and has a median longitudinal plane (XX). The two shoes (5a and 5b) are fixed on the central part (2) of the board (1) so that their respective median longitudinal planes (Za, Z'a- Zb, Z'b) are arranged at an angle by relation to the median plane (XX ').

 In the embodiment according to the invention, each of the shoes is retained on the surf by a device retaining the shoe not by their front and rear ends, as is conventionally done, but laterally. The shoe is retained between a retaining part or fixed jaw (6) and a movable retaining assembly (7).

 According to the invention, the movable retaining assembly (7) consists of a body (20) on which is articulated a retaining jaw (21). For this purpose, the latter is pivotally mounted on the body about a transverse axis (22) to be pivotally movable between a shoe retaining position (P1) as illustrated in Figure 3 and a release position (P2) as shown in Figure 4 and vice versa.

 The jaw (21) is urged by the action of an elastic system (23) constituted by a movable member (24) urged by a spring (25) on a ramp (26) produced inside the jaw (25 ). Said ramp (26) being constituted by a first ramp or upper ramp (26a) extended downwards by a second ramp (26b). According to the embodiment shown, the movable member (24) consists of a sliding piston movable in translation in a central sliding housing (27) produced in the body (20) of the movable retaining assembly.

 Furthermore, the body (20) is arranged movable in translation to slide substantially horizontally relative to a fixed support (28), while the spring (25) of the elastic system (23) bears on said fixed support (28).

 Note further that there is provided locking means for locking the jaw (21) in position (P1) for retaining the shoe; These locking means make it possible to lock the jaw relative to the body (20) by preventing its upward rotation along (R1).

 The locking means consist of a pawl (29) pivotally mounted on the jaw (21) about a transverse axis and is biased by at least one spring (32) against a notched cam (30) to cause the engagement of said lock in at least one of the teeth of said cam. Thus, in the retaining position (P1), the jaw by biasing the shoe is locked and cannot pivot towards its release position and the shoe is thus held firmly on the board.

 To unlock the jaw and allow the shoe to be released, there is an unlocking member (31) allowing the user to provoke; disengagement of the lock and thus give the jaw the possibility of pivoting upward to release the shoe.

 I1 is provided several stop systems, a first stop system limiting the rotation of the jaw upwards, a second stop system limiting the downward rotation, and a third system limiting the movement towards the shoe of the mobile assembly of restraint.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown by way of examples, but it also includes all the technical equivalents and their combinations.

Claims (3)

 1. Device for retaining a boot to a gliding board of the type comprising a jaw (21) pivotally mounted on a body (20) about a transverse axis (22) so as to be movable in rotation relative to said body between a closed position (P1) and an open position (P2) and vice versa, said jaw (3) being urged by an elastic system (23) constituted by a movable member (24) urged by a spring (25) , characterized in that the body (20) is movable in translation relative to a support (28), while the spring (25) of the elastic system (23) is supported on said support (28).  2. A shoe retaining device according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises locking means (29, 30) intended to lock the jaw (21) in its retaining part (P1) to condemn its pivoting upwards (R1) relative to the body (20).  3. A shoe retaining device according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that it comprises several stop systems, a first stop system limiting the rotation of the jaw upwards, a second stop system limiting the downward rotation, and a third system limiting the movement of the mobile retaining assembly towards the shoe.
