Abstract

A composite material is made from cork agglomerate which is reinforced during manufacture by the addition of fibres. After cutting or working the material any fibres which are left projecting from its surface are removed with the aid of a solvent. The fibres can be, for example, of cellulose acetate, and the solvent used to remove them is acetone.
