Abstract

The assembly comprises a cotyloid implant in the form of a rigid cup (1) and a rigid insert (2) designed to receive the spherical head (4) of a femoral implant. The head (4) is made from a rigid material and incorporates an element (5) of an elastically-deformable material to act as a shock absorber. The ring extends for the whole height of the bush, and is made, for example, from polyethylene. The base of the insert (2) is made to provide a reservoir for a physiological lubrication fluid, e.g. by means of an aperture (2b) linked to a channel (2c) in its inner wall. The insert can be fitted inside the cup in different angles.
