Abstract

The velvet strip is made from warp (3, 5, 6) and weft (2) filaments of polyamide or polyester, and adhesive filaments (4) which can be either bare or covered. The back of the strip has filament (6) of polyamide or polyester, and its front face has taffeta-reinforced loops.

Description

 The invention relates to a self-gripping elastic velvet tape intended to cooperate with a hook tape to ensure a flexible connection of elements, such as for example a medical orthosis or splints.

 We already know elastic velvet ribbons made on looms, also called hooks.

 The mesh structure of such ribbons has the drawback of having poor washing resistance at 90 ".

 In particular, it promotes the twisting of the ribbon on itself, which makes it unsightly and above all awkward, when it has to be grasped to ensure that it hangs with a hook tape.

 Also known are ribbons made on a ribbon loom, also called needles, for example on a simple weaving base with taffeta gum, shiny bottom and float pile. Often in use the pile constituting the velvet is torn off, leading to a reduction in the period of use of the ribbon and giving it an unsightly fluffy appearance.

 The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing a velvet, elastic and self-gripping tape retaining its dimensional stability, even after washes at 90 "C, and having floats which do not tear off, even in the intensive use case.

 This ribbon, of the type having a base formed by warp and weft threads of polyamide or polyester and gum threads, bare or gimped, is characterized in that it comprises threads of pile or velvet which, in polyamide or polyester, with several unitary and textured strands, work according to the technique of the English tour, that is to say surround themselves with a taffeta weave, around the straight rubber thread, between floats, made on several weft strokes and forming curls.

 Thanks to the nature and the resistance of the pile threads and their mooring on either side of the floats, the velvet loops obtained are particularly resistant even when, after connection with the hooks of another ribbon, the two ribbons are subject to elongation.

 Other characteristics will emerge from the description which follows with reference to the appended schematic drawing, the single figure of which represents, in perspective, the structure of the ribbon seen from the back.

 In this drawing, the reference numeral 2 designates the weft composed of horsehair made of polyamide or polyester, 3 designates the bottom warp threads, made of polyamide or polyester, 4 the rubber threads, bare or gimped, with polyamide or polyester covering, and S the threads said of pile or velvet. The latter are composed of several unitary strands and for example five strands, and are textured to allow attachment.

 The structure shown corresponds to that of an industrial elastic tape, for medical use, in order to soften the contact of its reverse side with the skin, it also comprises reverse threads 6, made of polyamide or polyester. It is also to improve the touch at the edges that the wefts are lined with a textured thread, polyamide or polyester.

 In the embodiment shown, the fabric is based on two sets of offset English turns C1, C2, but depending on requirements, it can have one, three or four.

 The armor ratio is twelve shots but could just as easily be lower or higher, as long as any armor latitude is possible once the technique of English turns is established with, as a base, the rubber thread in straight yarn, pile yarn in twist yarn, weft in horsehair or textured yarn, in polyamide or polyester.

 After weaving on the ribbon loom, the ribbon is subjected to a fixing treatment, well known to those skilled in the art.

 The velvet thus obtained has very resistant loops and is not very sensitive to washing at high temperature. Its attachment with the hooks of an additional ribbon can be carried out under tension, without there being any risk of detachment when the tension is released. In addition, an excessive tension causing the detachment, does not cause any tearing of the hairs or curls. which eliminates all risks of fluff formation. Finally, its useful life is considerably increased compared to current ribbons ensuring the same function.

 Such a tape is applicable to the medical field, but also to the domestic and industrial fields.

Velvet elastic self-gripping tape of the type having a base formed by warp (3, 5, 6) and weft (2) threads, of polyamide or polyester, and gum threads (4), bare or gimped, characterized in that it comprises pile or velvet threads (5) which, in polyamide or polyester, with several unitary and textured strands, work according to the technique of the English lathe, that is to say surround themselves (in A) with a taffeta weave, around a straight rubber thread (4), between floats, made (in B) on several weft strokes and forming loops.  2. Velvet ribbon according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises at least two staggered sets of pile or velvet threads (5) working in an English lathe.  3. Velvet ribbon according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it has a backing in son (6), in polyamide or polyester.
