Abstract
Description
RACCORD ANGULAIRE
The present invention relates to an angular connector allowing a change of direction. or a drop in level for a gas-insulated electrical transmission line. Such a line usually used for high voltage (220kV or more) comprises one or more conductors arranged in a tubular envelope, the conductors being held in the center by insulating wedges. The conductors can be aluminum or copper: they can be tubular. The sheath is also made of steel: Steel has better resistance to internal arc and better resistance to internal pressure. Compared to aluminum, steel is cheaper, easier to protect against corrosion and easier to weld at the installation site of the line. The envelope being the seat of thermal losses due to the currents induced in the steel, it is preferable to insert between the conductors and the envelope a magnetic screen which can possibly be made of an aluminum sheath. To facilitate installation, and absorb thermal expansion, sliding pads are placed between the steel casing and the aluminum screen, and the conductor fasteners in the insulating wedges are provided to allow the conductors to slide.
An example of such a line is described in French patent application nO. 93 15355 of December 21, 1993 in the name of the plaintiff. This example is shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings.
In FIG. 1, the references 3, 4 and 5 designate three conductors in the form of aluminum or copper tubes, arranged in parallel with one another and housed respectively in the openings 6, 7 and 8 of insulating arms 9, 10 and 11. The ends of the arms are held tight two by two in jaws such as 13 and 14 constituting the ends of metal arches 19, 20 and 21; the jaws are tightened by reefs 12 and nuts 14A. The ends of the poles form an upside-down, horizontal equilateral triangle.
All the conductor support members thus form a compact assembly (see also fig. 2). The 2 aluminum ducts slide. inside a steel casing 1, on strips 22. 23 made of plastic material or of charged polymer, with a low coefficient of friction. and with sufficient hardness, such as polytetrafluoroethylene.
The aluminum sheaths 2 form, opposite the steel casing 1, a magnetic screen making it possible to reduce the heating in the steel casing.
The teflon strips allow the aluminum sheaths 2 to slide on the steel casing 1, in the event of differential expansions during operation, and also during assembly of the line.
The arches 19, 1 () and 2 1 are given rounded profiles to ensure good dielectric strength with respect to the conductors.
The insulating gas can be nitrogen under a pressure of ten hectopascals, or more. Other gases can be used, such as sulfur hexafluoride.
The connection of two sections of such a line, to adapt the line to a change of direction or to a difference in level is not obvious. Sealing must be ensured, and the insulation distance between the conductor (single phase) or the conductors (three-phase, polyphase) must be respected.
The present invention relates to an angular connector allowing a change of direction for an electric transport line for the connection of a first section of line to a second section of line, the two sections each comprising at least one conductor and an outer casing. of cylindrical protection, the at least one conductor being disposed centrally in each section in the vicinity of the axis of each envelope, characterized in that the envelopes are connected to each other by a ball joint welded after relative positioning d 'a section relative to the other, according to the chosen orientation, and the at least one conductor of the first section is connected to said at least one conductor of the second section by a ball joint.
In one embodiment of the invention, the ball joint of the envelopes is formed on each envelope by a spherical segment provided with a first flange, said first flange being fixed with the interposition of a seal, to a second flange welded to the envelope, the radii of the spherical segments of the envelopes being different, so as to form an exterior spherical segment and an interior spherical segment, the difference in the radii being substantially equal to the wall thickness of the segments, so that the interior segment can move in sliding inside the outer segment.
In the case of single-phase current, there is only one conductor in the line, the conductor in each section is arranged coaxially with the envelope, and the ball joint of the envelopes and the ball joint of the conductors are concentric.
In the case of three-phase current (or any other polyphase) the ball joints of the conductors are mounted axially sliding on their respective conductors to allow adaptation of the geometry of the fitting to a chosen angle of change of direction.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear during the description which follows, given by way of nonlimiting example, with reference to the attached drawings and which will make it clear how the invention can be implemented.

The gas-insulated electrical transmission lines generally consist of sections of length of approximately 100 meters, which, for manufacturing and transport reasons consist of 10-meter modules welded end to end (between 5 and 12 meters depending on the circumstances). The sections are connected on the ground, as described in the patent cited above to form lines which can reach several tens of kilometers. The subject of the invention is the angular connectors used for changes of direction or uneven ground when laying or burying a line. To make an angular junction between a first section (on the left in FIGS. 3 and 4) and a second section (on the right in FIGS. 3 and 4) of a single-phase line, the steel casings 30A, 30B of the sections are provided, at their ends adjacent to the end to be connected with the other section, of a flange 31A, 3 il. The ball joint of the envelopes comprises for each section a ball element constituted by a spherical segment 32A, 32B. A flange 33A is welded to each segment. 33B. and the flanges of the segments are fixed, for example by bolts to the flanges of the envelopes with the interposition of a seal. The diameters of the two spherical segments differ from the thickness of the wall of the segments so as to be able to fit the segments into one another. They can thus slide relative to each other without excessive friction and be welded to each other in a leaktight manner without difficulty.
Inside the envelopes are arranged a central conductor 35A in the first section and a central conductor 35B in the second section. These conductors, which can be formed from an aluminum or copper tube, are also connected by a ball joint. To do this, a ball joint piece 36 is welded to the end of the conductor 35A. The ball joint has at one end a spherical ball 36A and the other end is welded to the conductor. The other bearing of the ball joint is formed by two half-shells 37A, 37B each comprising at one end a hemispherical shell and at the other end a form of connection adapted to be fitted onto a connection element 38 itself welded to the 35B driver. It goes without saying that the shape of the connecting element 38 could be produced directly on the end of the conductor 35B.
The conductors are carried inside the envelopes by insulating shims not shown in the figures, but shown and described in the French patent cited above. In the first stretch. the ball joint part can be held in position by an insulating wedge 40 in the form of a truncated cone fixed by its large base to the casing while its small base is formed with an opening 40A through which the ball joint part 36 is introduced. The fixing of the large base can be carried out for example by means of two flanges -11.12.
In one mode of application of the invention, the fasteners of the frustoconical setting on the casing and on the ball joint part are gas tight.
The ball-joint part is advantageously fitted with a corona guard 43.
Once the assembly of FIG. 3 has been carried out, the second section is oriented relative to the first in the chosen direction. In order to facilitate the operation, the casing 30B can only be put in place after completion of the junction, then the flanges 33B and 31 B are bolted together.
After orientation, the two spherical segments are welded at 45 and the connection is then completed (fig. A). This assembly system allows an angular displacement of ::::: 250.
FIG. 5 represents another example of application of the invention in the case of a three-phase line. The envelope ball joint is identical to that of the single-phase line.
Each section in this case comprises three conductors. In order to achieve a change of direction, while keeping the same arrangement of the bars (even between axes) in the two sections; it is necessary that the centers 60 of the ball joints of the conductors are in the bisector plane 61 of the angle formed by the two sections, passing through the center 62 of the sphere of the ball joint of the envelopes.
This is possible by shifting the ends of the conductors, as shown on the second section (on the right) in Figure 5. This is not always easy on the first section, which during the succession of laying operations, is completed when we start the angular connection. This way of proceeding is also not convenient to compensate for backlash and thermal expansion, or to achieve gas tightness.
According to the present invention. a ball joint part 50 is provided on each of the conductors of the first section, and these ball joint parts each consist of two parts: a part 5 () A carrying the ball joint, and a part 50B welded to the conductor, these two parts being mounted with longitudinal sliding one inside the other. The electrical continuity between the part 50B and the ball joint 50A is ensured by the contacts 51.
As in the previous case of the single-phase, the ball-joint parts 50, at least the fixed parts 50B, are held in position by wedges in frustoconical cone 52 on which are also fixed corona shields 43.
These three truncated cone wedges are fixed to a cone support plate 55.
This plate is fixed at its periphery to the casing 30A of the first section, and is formed with three openings through which the three conductors pass. Each opening is thus closed by a cone. The large cones of the cones 52 can be fixed to the plate 55 by a counter plate 56 of the same dimension with the same openings. According to a particular and advantageous embodiment of the invention, the cone support plate is fixed in a sealed manner to the envelope and each cone is fixed in a gas tight manner both on the cone support plate, and around the ball joint of each conductor.
This assembly system allows an angular clearance a little lower than that of the single-phase line of the order of + lS.
By way of example, the conductors can consist of aluminum bars with a diameter of 220 mm. the wall having a thickness of 17 mm.
In this case, the steel envelope has a diameter of 1,219 mm and the wall 9 mm. The aluminum sheath can be 4 mm thick.
