Abstract

Recovering bovine serocolostrum comprises (1) collecting colostrum (A) from healthy lactating cows belonging to a herd with no acute or chronic udder disease; (2) immediately coagulating (A) by adding rennet and CaCl2 to produce a curd and a soln., i.e. the serocolostrum (I), practically free of fats and high mol.wt. proteins (esp. casein); (3) sepg. (I) and transferring it to packages (esp. cartons); (4) freezing at about -20 deg C at most 4 hrs. after taking (A), so that any contaminating germs do not have time to develop; (5) immediately before admin. (orally to new-born calves) each package (previously placed in a closed bag) is thawed using water at not over 40 deg C. (I) is admin. from an artificial teat, oesophageal probe or slowly from a metering pistol. Also new is an appts. for this process.

le prélèvement du colostrum de façon à ne pas laisser le
