Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a liquid retentive composite material absorbing oils or liquid chemicals. The material consists of a primary layer 10, an intermediate layer 11 consisting of a liquid retentive or absorbent substance, which can optionally be associated or supported by a support layer 12, and a secondary layer 13, the various layers being joined together by needling, sewing or gluing
The layers 10, 12, and 13 could possibly be nonwoven, woven, or knitted geotextiles or a combination of these geotextiles, of synthetic, vegetable or animal nature.
The material, having by its composition and its constitution a large and controlled capacity of retention and possible restitution of liquid to the external environment or absorption of oils or liquid chemicals, is particularly well suited to constitute a reserve of useful water by ensuring the water regulation of a substrate or a plant cover, to regulate by retention then subsequent restitution of the flows of liquid such as for example rainstorms and thus contribute to the control of the flows of the systems sanitation and drainage, to absorb oils or liquid chemicals allowing it to be used in - environmental protection works or storage of polluting products or liquids
The advantages of the present invention are essentially due to the use for the intermediate layer 11 of a substance having a very high liquid retention capacity, with the possibility of subsequent restitution thereof, or of a substance exhibiting the Ability to absorb and retain oils or liquid chemicals
The variation in dosage of the substance making up the intermediate layer 11 and the choice of its nature makes it possible to manufacture materials having perfectly controllable and vari able characteristics allowing various applications
The layers 10, 12, and 13 will be, for example, non-woven geotextiles produced by needling, by chemical bonding or by heat-sealing. They may also be woven or tri-rated geotextiles, or a combination of nonwoven and woven, nonwoven and knitted geotextiles, woven and knitted, woven and knitted nonwovens
Layers 10, 12, and 13 will be synthetic in nature such as, for example, polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, acrylic
They may also be of a vegetable nature such as for example jute, coconut, or cotton, or of an animal nature such as for example wool or silk
Depending on the mechanical performance and the desired durability of the material, the different layers 10, 12 and 13 may be of different types and manufacturing. The primary layer 10 may for example be a nonwoven polypropylene geotextile reinforced with a woven polyester geotextile, the layer 12 a nonwoven jute geotextile, and secondary layer 13 a knitted polyethylene geotextile
The substance making up the intermediate layer 11 may be present in the initial state in the form, for example, of powder, seeds, granules, grains, or aggregates. It can be organic, mineral, or derived from synthetic chemistry, or be a combination of them. It may for example be based on crosslinked polyacrylamide or acrylic acid or any substance having a strong liquid retention capacity or for example hydrated calcium silicate, or any substance having a strong absorption capacity for oils. or liquid chemicals
The different layers can be assembled together by guillotating, by gluing, or by sewing
The assembly of the layers makes it possible to obtain a flexible, flexible and deformable material having mechanical performance, in particular
to link a resistance to traction and tearing, allowing it to adapt to the stresses applied both in the implementation phase and during its use on flat or uneven supports and of variable geometries.
