Abstract

The hand protector is made from sterilisable leather or plastics, and is in the shape of a half-mitt (1) covering the hand and wrist, with curved edges (5, 6) to avoid hurting the patient. The protector has an opening (2) between the thumb and forefinger, with guard strips (4) along the inside of the opening, and can be attached to the hand by elastic straps or open flexible clips. The portion of the protector to receive the thumb is connected to the main body by an articulated joint made from a thinner portion of the same material. USE/ADVANTAGE - Offers protection to hand of person giving injection, especially when filling implanted subcutaneous capsules. Fits all sizes of hands and provides more reliable protection against accidental pricking with contaminated needle.
