Abstract

An established LCD etching technique produces upper and lower exciting fields, 3 and 4 in number, giving 12 possible combinations, in each digit space. Each combination corresponds to a segment (A-K) of a composite pattern constructed by superimposing all the script numerals, with added decimal point (L). The controlling electronic circuits group these combinations one, two or three at a time, to reconstitute the numerals 0 to 9, with the point. Alternatively, each digit space is occupied by the 8x10 dot matrix, again with added decimal point. Both methods are equally applicable to LED or lamp displays. USE/ADVANTAGE - For all kinds of digital displays. Dot matrix version allows successive or alternative presentation of Arabic (i.e. occidental), and Arabic script, numerals on same display.
