Abstract

The solar cooker or steriliser is made of a non-conducting material, with a heat absorber (4) on at least one of its walls. The cooker is closed by a transparent panel. Product for cooking or sterilising is held in a heat conducting vessel (3), which may be capable of being pressurised. The lower (6) and upper (1) sections of the cooker can move relative to each other, adjusting the size of the cooking chamber according to the size of the cooking vessel (3). Pref. upper and lower sections may be shaped so one fits over the other, and can move up or down, alternatively they may be hinged so one moves relative to the other. An additonal heat source, such as a gas burner may be positioned below the vessel, perhaps with ducts in the absorber panel to direct hot air from the burner.
