Abstract

Infestations by nits and lice are treated by applying to the skin or scalp a compsn. contg. NH4OH and an oxidising agent. The compsn. is liq., pref. aq., and contains 0.5-25% of NH4OH and the usual concn. of the oxidising agents normally used in treating hair, esp. H2O2, a bromate, a perborate, a per-salt or a peroxide. It may contain tensides at neutral pH, esp. in the form of a shampoo, and also softeners, esp. surfactants or cationic polymers. ADVANTAGE - Treatment is simple, harmless and effective.
